Casa John forms the last outpost on the Tofinho Beach, just 20 kilometres south of Inhambane. Casa John offers 6 luxury self-catering units, 3 six sleeper units and 3 four sleeper units. Its position provides spectacular coastal views, the sea spray tingling the decks of the six luxury houses. Resident whale sharks loll in the immediate waters, competing for space when migratory Hump Back Whales make their appearance from early June to October. From the living areas, dolphins can be sighted chasing their catch, frustrating sea birds and interrupting your afternoon siesta.

We love Casa John. The hospitality of the staff is always super and the accommodation is gorgeous and not to forget to mention the view and sparkling pool. Walking distance to town but sufficiently far for total peace and quiet.

Family holiday with Grannies, children and grandchildren.
Wonderful.
Stunning views and beaches, really well equipped lodges. Fresh prawns, crayfish and fish in abundance.
Staff helpful.
Difficult to find in the dark for newcomers but that in itself an adventure!
What a pleasure.
Thank you

the house was much more thet we expected. It's situated ina wonderful position with a terrace where you can have breakfast while watching dolphins and whales. The staff is very helpful.
A suggestion: get fresh lagostas from the local fishermen (we paid them 250 mtn a kilo) and use the barbecue in the internal garden.

We (couple with two small kids) enjoyed the view and the good style of the apartment as well as the swimming pool. It was low season, but it was possible to get fair service. We appreciated the style, but were a bit irritated that the prices were only given in Rand, asked information of the owner on it. Don`t do that, he is presented himself as an old-school hateman, who came shouting into our apartment without having ever met us before.
We had never met aggression and a bad spirit like this, lots of shouting and insults in front of little kids for no reason, sent out during dinner.
If you give some value for sustainable tourism development in a very poor area, this is not your place. If you want to make a backward South-African boss richer, go for it!

Casa John is still a good self-catering option, the houses are good for family holidays and is safe, but it needs to keep it up; we were surprised to find that they don’t offer any shower gel or bath soap. On the first night no one was there to give us the keys to lock the rooms, although safe, is uncomfortable to leave the doors unlocked specially at night.

We were in a group of 6 friends for 10 nights over Christmas and New Year. The house was more than spacious, super comfortable and built for entertaining. It was also frequently cleaned. Casa John is perfectly nestled away from the hustle and bustle of the town with paths leading off to quieter beaches... but still close enough to walk to town. The views from our verandah and from the pool were unbeatable. Small issues were the leaky fridge and the oddities that come with power fluctuations, but these did not nearly dampen our enjoyment of the place. I'd recommend Casa John to anyone visiting Mozambique.

A very comfortable casitta, with amazing vistas over the Indian Ocean, watching Humpback whales breaking the waters from our verandah - Wow. A 15 minute walk along the coast to Tofu, expect locals selling/making bespoke bracelets/necklaces, you can even get measured up for colourful, really well made shorts/dresses, as a reminder of this special place, just ask for Ricardo, in the market place, he'll soon appear. Dhow trips available locally provide opportunities to enjoy this beautiful environment under sail, visit local communities and spot sea creatures at very close quarters; collecting discarded shells, including some beautifully marked pansy shells and sea urchin shells.

What a joy to arrive at Casa John after a couple of long days in the car. We booked 2 x 3 bedroom units and they were stunning. Lovely accommodation with plenty of space - the various entertainment/living areas are perfect for groups. The views are sensational and being able to watch Whale Sharks from the deck was a wonderful bonus. We were concerned re how Covid restrictions would impact our trip but we were able to do absolutely everything - we walked, we boogie-boarded, ate out at the fantastic local restaurants, cooked fresh crayfish and all-in-all had a superb holiday. Lovely and helpful staff. The pool under the palm trees was well-used. Overall Casa John is beautifully maintained and we'd love to go back soon. Highly recommend.

We had a very nice stay in Casa John, the location is very nice, you can hear the ocean from the porch. The place is very clean, although, because it is a bit old, the decor is already passed and the house could use a general revamp.

The chalet has two bedrooms separated by the living area. It was great that we could (out of season) get a reduced rate for just one bedroom. Excellent facilities and wonderful view from the balcony. The pool is large and well maintained. The staff were helpful when approached but need to give more information on arrival eg the wifi code

"We stayed in 2 houses. First house no. 6 Which has 2 bedrooms which were comfortable and were equal in size and house number 3 which has 3 bedrooms but only master bedroom is comfortable because rest of the 2 rooms were very small and therefore we felt little bit hot and suffocated. Its only fine if you'll keep the door open but the view from the balcony was amazing."Read full review
