The Hotel degli ULivi will live long in our memories. On a cycling tour of Puglia, we were pulling our way up the long hill which leads out of the lovely village of Castro. It began to rain ☔️, like no rain you’ve ever seen. Getting desperate (there was thunder and lightning about), we stopped at the Hotel degli ULivi. The young gentleman who greeted us could not have been more welcoming and friendly, even though I think he doesn’t get many cycling customers. We enjoyed our huge, steaming hot cafe lattes and the most gorgeous cake, all for less than 5 eoros. Our bikes were tucked away under cover and he was happy for us to stay as long as it rained - what a gentleman. We used the loos and in doing so, admired this superb hotel, all cool marble, rich wood, and great design, and wished we could stay. If we come back to Puglia, we certainly will.…
We spent here 5 great nights from the 25th till the 30th of April, 2013. The hotel has a perfect location from all points of view: 5 mins of walk to the center of Castro, 10 mins of walk to reach the sea shore and in max 40 min in car to see any place of marvelous Salento. Without any additional costs, the breakfast was served in the room and we could peacefully have our food admiring the spectacular view from our balcony. The hotel is not modern but it's clean and well finished. The personnel is highly professional and really kind. We highly recommend this hotel for everyone who is searching a nice hotel in modest price.
Good hotel in general. Amazing view from the little balcony of my room. We booked a queen bed but they just tied 2 twins (they tried to get far from each other every night). If you can, avoid the poor breakfast, especially the espresso: We felt very bad for few hours in the morning but we realized only the last day that it was because of the coffee..
Good option in this town that has limited choice. The manager was very keen to get things right for us and went the extra mile. Hotel is much larger than it looks and continues up the hill, It has probably seen better days but suited us fine. Room was good with air con and large balcony Breakfast was a huge disappointment. Get there early! One tip is not to eat at the fish restaurant in Castro itself unless you feel like spending lots!! We were stung. We stayed 2 nights on our road trip around Italy and it was fine. No beach so swimming off the rocks!
