By arrival a bunch of stuff was broken and kitchen equipment wasn't functioning as it should. Breakfast was included, but they only delivered bread during the first morning. After the handover the owner send a message claiming that we broke a bunch of items and hided them, which was totally not true. He claimed we broke an old wobbly chair, but the chair just lost a leg at the moment one of us sat on it during the first evening. Some minor glueing would easily repair the chair. He also complainted that we did not clean the accomodation, whilst cleaning was already paid for (€90). We just left the place tidy. Overall a very bad experience and unfriendly owners.

A beautiful B&B with gracious host and hostess. We loved our three days at Le Petit Schelishans - lovely rooms, friendly atmosphere, close to the city of Strasbourg and an easy drive to the Route du Vin. There were four in our party and since it was the middle of the week, we had the place to ourselves until the last morning. Lovely garden and gazebo where we had wine and cheese in the evenings after sightseeing all day. Paul was most helpful in suggestions for our sightseeing and also fun to visit with. Spacious rooms (ours was the Waydelich, and our companions had the Gutenberg guest room) and private bathrooms that seem so luxurious after staying in cramped hotel rooms for a week prior to our arrival. Bicycles for use were an added plus! The town of Obershaeffolsheim is a quiet suburb of Strasbourg and we welcomed the friendly atmosphere and quieter pace. One of our favorite places during the entire two week holiday- highly recommended!

This place is just lovely--the rooms, the grounds--and the location seems ideal, in a quiet community near the city. We left the car here, strolled to the bus stop (not too far), and had a great time. There are good restaurants in the area (our favorite: Klein-Hof's regional-Mediterranean-Indian cuisine, well-priced, in a comfortable, casual atmosphere). The rooms are well-decorated with antiques and local art, equipped with highly sleep-able beds and renovated bathrooms. The prices are quite comfortable as well. Breakfasts were very nice, with delicious coffee and fresh baked breads & pastries--as another reviewer points out, request more if you like when you check in; you'll find them very accommodating. The breakfast room itself is open to guests through the day and evening and the gazebo is a great spot for a light meal as well. The owner does not live on-site, and there was some confusion when we first arrived but a phone call quickly put it to rights, and we found the staff quite helpful and pleasant. We were looking for something to give us a sense of comfort and local life, and we couldn't have been more delighted.

We turned up to this b&b at around 12pm, the time we had informed the owner. Unfortunately when we arrived the gate was locked and after ringing the buzzer on the door no one answered. We then tried the house next door and then tried calling the number that was on the door. After five attempts we were about to give up and go elsewhere to stay. It wasn’t until about an hour later the owner answered our call and was extremely rude to us with no apologies. Soon after one of their neighbours turned up to let us in. He couldn’t really tell us anything about the place except for giving us a key. You could say that after this trouble it was made up to us with a beautifully renovated bed & breakfast that is set in a beautiful country village on the outskirts of Strasbourg. Everything in our room was clean and comfortable with amazing views of the storks. There is also a nice little outdoor area where you can sit. However I don’t know whether the customer service was the most disappointing or the breakfast. Don’t bother having breakfast here, it is overpriced and you only get 1 croissant and a small amount of jam. You can get the same thing if you walk a short distance down the street to the local boulangerie for a much cheaper price.

We recently spent a couple nights at Le Petit Schelishans and found it delightful. The location is ideal--a short ride from Strasbourg's city center, with public transportation nearby. Two of us stayed in the Emerence room, the third in the room above, where a hallway-placed telescope offers a closeup view of the stork's nest perched on the nearby church. The rooms are expertly decorated with with lovely antiques, comfortable beds and furniture, up-to-date bathrooms, and a scattering of whimsical local art. The well-kept grounds include a spacious gazebo, outfitted with tables and chairs, as well as a wrought-iron table-&-chair set--all comfortably arranged for guests' enjoyment. Ideal to relax with a good book and a glass of wine or cup of tea. The breakfast room holds several tables with side-trays, and breakfast was a treat, with delicious coffee, an assortment of teas, cereals, yogurt, croissants and a variety of freshly-baked breads. Eggs, cheese, and ham are available for any who want them (just say the word), but we found them unnecessary given the other more-than-generous offerings. Cold drinks are available throughout the day. We found the room, outfitted with guides and maps, a pleasant spot for planning our travels. Owner Paul was a gracious host, making us at home and sharing interesting stories of the inn. We are particularly grateful to Sabine, who worked with us and our very limited language skills to make a last-minute reservation where the accommodations and the bill could not have been more to our liking. We look forward to returning to Alsace, and to another stay at Le Petit Schelishans.

We stayed at this B&B en route to the wine route to visit Strasbourg. We had the room called Emerance, which was quirkily furnished, with interesting antiques and artwork, There was a separate bathroom and WC. The old house itself is very interesting and has a pleasant garden with gazebo and garden furniture and secure parking. One has to open the most enormous wooden gates to gain access! The owners were very friendly. Sadly, we have to agree with a previous reviewer that the breakfast was a total let-down with very limited selection - and very overpriced. Definitely the worst breakfast of our seven day trip to Alsace. No ham or cheese available and a tacky supermarket-type plastic pot of fruit cocktail at each place setting. Just one juice - apple. Described as a 'luxury' B&B but the breakfast certainly isn't.
