This is one of the nicest, friendliest most well appointed campsites I have visited in Africa. We did go for the deluxe campsite option which gave us access to our own ablution block, which was worth the money. However, I also visited the communal ablutions an they are fine as long as you miss the 6 am rush.
The camp which also has cottages, is full of humour, with quirky signs all over the place, which reflects in the friendliness of the staff.
Finally and by no means least, there is an excellent bar / restaurant area, ohh and a shop where they sell amazing braai packs and delicious Wors. Its far enough outside Swakupmond that you are saved from the ravages of the wind and the cold South Atlantic weather.
Will we go back again? Without a doubt and recommend that you also use this Oasis if you are in he area.

Amazing stay!! We had bungalow 2 and 3 and it was awesome for the kids to fish etc. The only problem we had is that there was no washing basin outside to just rinse our cutlery/braai bak. Would recommend all units to just have an outside washing basin. But we will definitely book again! Awesome experience and all staff and owners were so welcoming! PS. The only reason I ticked 'average' for the rooms is because of not having the use of an outside basin.

What a pleasant surprise! We were looking for a campsite in the Swakopmund area and friends from Walvis Bay pointed us to Goanikontes Oasis. We arrived at lunchtime on a Saturday and were surprised by the amount of activity at the restaurant. We enjoyed a delicious lunch while waiting for our campsite to be serviced and were allowed to set up camp as soon as that was done. Each campsite has its own ablution and washup facility and both were spotless. The campsites are very spacious and all have their own electricity.
The owner also arranged for the bar to stay open while the Rugby Championship test between South Africa and Australia was being shown and joined the guests to watch the game. Lovely hikes and sightseeing in the area but be aware that you need a permit to visit the Welwitchias nearby. Sleep quality marked down due to very noisy neighbours who needed to be silenced.

This was the second time we Camped at Goanikontes and enjoyed it once again.

Welcome at Reception - I would suggest that they get someone else to welcome guests especially if you have driven so far and you get that type of welcome. Cecilia was VERY rude due to an email that was send to me a few days before we arrived and requested if us friends can share a stand. I replied that I will ask them, but we have booked and paid deposit in January already to ensure that we get these stands with private ablutions. The manner in which she addressed me due to the fact that I did not come back to her was unacceptable.

The stands is spacious and the private ablutions is key for us - if the staff could bring shower and toilet mats more often as it gets dirty quickly with all the sand or if they could clean the private bathrooms that will help. We cleaned it ourselves, but did not have spare mats.

Restaurant has excellent food - staff is not very friendly

A suggestion is to have a nice swimming pool.

Apart from that, all of us enjoyed our stay at Goanikontes!!!!

Overall stay was great. Food is amazing.
Beds are quite hard.
And the space for extra 12 people (as advertised) was non existent. Pool house should only be advertised for 12 people, not 12 and extra 12.

We were a group of 17 adults and 6 children. We booked 2 stands and only got 1 stand where 7 vehicles had to fit in. It was too small for our group. Later on we found out that they gave us the wrong stand and said we can move to the 2 bigger stands ( that I booked from the start ) Three of the vehicles had already packed off and they didn't want to move everything. The next day, after we left , I received an email asking me if we are still coming....... The admin and reception needs some attention. The ablution block is very small and you can't get dressed in the shower. So everyone who came into the ablution block, look at you while you get dressed...... the only good thing was the bakery. It was 2 of the ladies in our groups birthday. They specially baked 2 cakes for them (expensive) but delicious.

We booked a luxury bungalow and when we arrived the bungalow was extremely hot, with no air-conditioning. Luckily the temperatures dropped on Saturday and the bungalow was then OK. What surprised me most however was that we did not have any cutlery or utensils in the bungalow to prepare our own food or do a braai or to cater for ourselves. On top of that the restaurant was closed on Saturday evening. Had we not been invited to friends at the camping spot to have a braai with them on Saturday evening, we would have been without food. I also thought that I would be able to prepare some food for us during the day at the bungalow, but had no utensils to do so. I recommend that you advise your guests of the facilities available in the bungalows as well as the opening times of the restaurant in advance.

All the staff were incredibly friendly ad welcoming. I was sunny during the day and we could enjoy the awesome big pool to escape the heat. During the evening it rained and even though we forgot our tent poles at home we had shelter from the rain under their beautifully laid out kitchen/ bathroom area.

Will definitely visit again!

overall very expensive. for the same money we could have had a trip to Gondwana lodges and had better food.
the buffet was a complete waste of funds with half the food not there and burnt oxtail. a child of 7 years does not eat 200 dollars worth of food.
the property overall seems to be constructed form the lowest quality of materials found. water not functioning in showers, flyscreens have no purpose, worms everywhere, no fridges.
for the same money you will get a 4 star hotel room with breakfast and all functioning services incl wifi.
way too much noise from seeimingly alcoholic visitors.

I visited Goanikontes Oasis on a 40 day roadtrip through Namibia and South-Africa. Stayed at the campsite. The campsite offers sites with enough privacy while still leaving enough opportunitie sto get in touch with other campers. Abblution is kept clean, cleaned more than once per day. The staff is very friendly. There is enough to do in the surroundings and at the site for a short stay.
