Detailed Reviews
We read some of the reviews with trepidation and were worried about what to expect. Thankfully the cabin was spotless, the bed comfortable and practically everything we needed for a lovely short break. Even though we were right next to the Highway, the cabin is insulated and it didn’t bother us. We were cosy and warm with good heating. The campground itself good do with some TLC such as grass mowing and tidying up of horseshoes but this didn’t spoil our trip. The colours in the campground are stunning and we had a very pleasant trip. We actually stayed here by default and for half the price after we discovered a cabin at a more famous site offered nothing but a bed with no linens, no cooking facilities but a barbecue and microwave and literally nothing else but barbecue tools. Glad we chose Glenview and for half the price too! If you like larger towels bring your own but there are adequate supplies including dishcloths and drying up cloths. We also brought an extra blanket but could have managed with the linens provided.

Delightful and comfortable stay. 1 bedroom cottage had more than enough room to accommodate parents, our adult son and large dog. Only 10mins to Sault College and the ability to cook all of our own meals + have our dog with us makes this place one we will continue to come back to anytime we need to visit our son. Hot tub is huge and was our own private spa during our visit. Kitchen was outfitted with most basic dishes, pots, cutlery needed - if we were coming again I would remember paper towel, a sharp knife, large drinking glasses & we missed our BBQ - but we were able to make everything we planned with what was supplied! Trails were easy to navigate and even though the highway was so close, did not hear it inside the cabin.

This is our second stay here with our ski club for training at Searchmont. The new owners have made a BIG effort to start updated the cabins. Ours had new flooring, fresh paint and upgraded bedding. The new owners are helpful and friendly - exactly what this 'rustic' accommodation needed to bring it back to life!

We should have read the reviews. My husband had good memories from his youth of Glenview Cottages so we make the booking, for a late January "get away", based on his 30 year old memories.
Based on pictures of the Mini Suite Cottage we DID bring our own folding table and chairs and we were glad we did. We wished we'd also brought our own towels, cloths, and coffee maker.
The room ended up having a table and two chairs but as we began to set the table for a board game we discovered that the wall was keeping the table and one chair propped. One leg fell off the table and one chair fell apart as we pulled it out from the table. We called the front desk immediately so they wouldn't thing we had broken the furniture. The clerk offered no apology nor a replacement set. We hauled our folding pieces from the vehicle.
The bathroom had 2 bath towels and two hand towels. No wash cloths.
The kitchen had no dishcloths or tea towels.
The microwave had not been cleaned since the last guest and had A LOT of food splatter insde.
The coffee pot had not been cleaned since the last guest and had a dried out filter pac in the basket (ew) and the pot had dried out coffee in the bottom.
There was a sign above the kitchen sinking "Warning" that if we didn't do our dishes we'd be charged a fee. Well, I did the dishes with a hand towel and laid them to dry on some cardboard we happened to have in our vehicle. I left a note explaining that if they wanted us to do the dishes they should provide the tools to do that.
As we were preparing to leave I decided to write a list of all the things that were broken or missing. I am NOT the type of person that would typically do this, and explained this to the young man who checked us out, but there were just SO many things that were unacceptable I had to. The young clerk took my list, again offering no apology or compensation. I might have expected that the desk staff would be authorized to offer, if not a rebate, a credit for a future stay. A kind gesture that could mean they'd try to do better next time. I would have gladly booked again to give them a second try. But, unfortunately, I will not give them a second try now.
I will say that if the necessary amenities had been provided and/or were clean I would have enjoyed the cottage itself much more. The cottage was clean enough and was quietly located in the centre of the property. The January snow coverage helped with sound absorbtion too. It was a beautiful spot and we did feel like we were on a holiday (except for washing dishes LOL).

We were looking for a dog-friendly accommodation for an evening as we passed through Sault Ste Marie. As we were researching Glenview Cottages, we found a combination of older negative reviews, and newer positive reviews. The newer reviews suggested the cottages had new owners, new upgrades, and there are also newer pictures online showing clean and updated cottages, so we trusted that the older reviews were not reflective of the current state. Unfortunately this was not our experience..
Our cabin was smelly. The carpets, furniture and linens were grimy and stained. There were earwigs on the walls, in the towels, on the fixtures. We were so uncomfortable we layed a blanket from our car over one of the beds and slept in top of it in our clothes. Usually we would have brought our concerns to the staff's attention, however the attendant at the front desk was so unwelcoming and abrasive when we arrived we opted to just cut our losses, get a bit of sleep, and hit the road ASAP the next day.
The only reason this is a 2 star review rather than a 1 star review is because the grounds were excellent. We took our pooch on two different trails at the back of the property, both well kept, well marked, and quite enjoyable. This is definitely a property with a lot of potential, but the cabins are in need of a lot of TLC and the staff could use some instruction on hospitality.

Kitchen cabinet doors and drawers did not close properly. No dish cloth or tea towel. Minimal cookware and dishes. Some musty smell about the cabin. Bed was firm enough but the pillows definitely need replacing. Brown staining all over them. Cases and sheets starting to show their age. Only 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels in bathroom. None in sink area nor was there a spot to hang one. Hand soap was so dried out it would not lather. Front desk staff very nice but looked at me a few times before assigning us a cabin right next to the Trans Canda Highway. Good thing we weren't here for more than one night. And glad I brought ear plugs. Expected better for $152.00. On the other hand Gino's Italian Restaurant was very good.

If your looking for the back woods run down smelly cottage this place is for you. Cobb Webb’s everywhere, futon that was falling apart, greasy dishes that were obviously not properly cleaned. Also the towels were smelly :/. When we got into the room/cabin in smelt really bad. We had a pet cabin, maybe it was all the crap and pee stains. I hope they don’t charge for cleanings cause they are definitely NOT using it to clean the rooms. Like no effort all all, my dogs ran back into their travel cages and didn’t come out. It’s just not fun. This is like a hunting trip but no hunting just the discomfort and stink😝. Plenty of other places folks. Step up the game guys, you’re in a competitive business world and technology is making it harder to slack off and not get caught. Cheers.

We had high hopes that we'd have a cute little cabin for our stay, but it was closer to one of those cabins that you see in horror movies. The bathroom was moudly and musty, to the point that we had to keep the door shut to avoid smelling it. When we turned on the bathroom fan it got even worse, there were ants in the bathroom, and there was potpourri in there to try to hide the smell. Cupboards in the bathroom and kitchen were hanging crookedly, there was no hot water for showering - you only had a few seconds of hot water before the heater shut off. There wasn't a plug for the bathroom sink, so we had to stuff a wash cloth in the drain to try and do a light wash in the sink (since showers weren't an option with no hot water). The sinks in the bathroom and kitchen were rust stained and so was the stove. The curtains had burn marks, the fridge had a burned out light, it was missing a front step (that should have been our first clue how bad things were going to be 😶). The towels were stained, the couch was stained, the flooring was stained, the carpet was stained, the kettle was stained, the internet kicked in and out, etc. Some of these are only little things, but all together they add up to show how little care is put into maintaining this place.
The only good thing I can say is that the beds were comfy and the roof didn't leak. If you're thinking of staying here, DON'T! It is way too expensive and you can get a much nicer stay almost anywhere else.

2 cabins were booked but were told when we arrived that there was only one available. The absolute minimal for toiletries etc. Soap dispenser in tub was broken. No extra blanket. Hand towels instead of face cloths. Towels were clean but all bleach stained and very worn with strings hanging from them. Kitchen drawer with dish towels had mice turds all over. Bed was comfortable enough but sheets and pillow cases were all stained and more grey than white. No door mat or anything outside the door. Just a bit of a mud puddle. Ok in a pinch but certainly not worth what we paid!

Booked here as could not find anywhere else to be honest. The place is on a busy highway so you need to ensure you request a cabin back from the road. Arrived after a long day driving at 7.30 pm. Man at reception on the phone at just ignored us but the woman eventually assisted us. Drove to our cabin and upon entering found it had not been cleaned from previous guests, bed umade, dirty towels etc.
Drove back to reception and we were asked to wait whilst they cleaned unit/cabin. Eventually they came out to our car and offered us a cleaned unit. Pool too cold to use, no jacuzzi as advertised (unfilled). Cabins look charming but very dated inside and carpets filthy and stained. Internet useless, would last about 5 minutes then cut out.
Upon checking out we said to woman in office (different woman) issues we had and not happy to pay full amount. She advised she would get manager to contact us pre charging our credit card. Never happened. Full amount charged. Would not recommend or stay here again.

Their website says the cottages are smoke and pet free. But it appears the RV Park does allow pets. Not sure of the pet fees. Sorry.
