Detailed Reviews
We stayed here on our way to Saskatchewan and on the return trip home, I can't say enough good about the Catalina . Easy and fast after hours check in, ample parking for my dually pick up and cargo trailer. The rooms are very spacious ,a big plus for us as we travel with our 3 smaller dogs . The bathroom was spotless and the room itself was tidy, clean and odor free. Rooms are pretty soundproof, didn't hear any traffic noise or noise from the rooms on either side. Owners are very friendly, rates are very reasonable and the Catalina is dog friendly ! We highly recommend you stay here.

rolled up fairly late after a long day of riding. Was greeted with a friendly smile unlike the folks down the road who didn't care for a bug covered rider in the lobby.
Not only was the room clean and quiet, the place was well kept beyond what you would think of an older motel. They even offered me a bucket of soapy water and some rags to clean my bike. Simple and proper treatment. long over due review as this was mid Aug.

We were initially disappointed when we approached the motel. The pictures on the website showed better than we saw in person. Staff proved to be very friendly and helpful and the room was cleaner and better appointed than we expected after our first impression of the motel. The towels were great.

The high Trip Advisor rating is why I chose to patronize this small independently owned motel for one night. I was disappointed. Although updated, the decor is worn and the room looked unfinished in spots (above window); bathroom wall was cracked and the paint was peeling; the bathroom counter was painted (?) and chipped; although it did appear clean, the room didn’t smell fresh and you could not open any windows; the shower curtain had dark spots along bottom, and small window air conditioner took hours to cool the room off. On the positive side, it is reasonably priced, pet friendly and the desk mgr/owners were courteous. My rating is generous based on my experience unfortunately.

I appreciated the ideal location as I was travelling through the area. The very nice and clean room, so beautifully arranged with good coffee available. It was a treat to stay here. I liked the staff and simple process of checking in and departing.

We were very pleased with the accommodations offered. The rooms were clean, quiet and spacious, and offered free high speed internet, DVD players, large screen TV, fridge, microwave, full size coffee maker and hair dryer. The beds were very comfortable. The location was ideal, and was within walking distance of many fast food outlets. including a Chinese buffet restaurant. It was also within walking distance of excellent bargain priced shops. The motel also had a casino package free of charge with your stay. The staff were very courteous. We would highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for accommodations in Sault Ste. Marie. Look no further -- you won't be disappointed!

We booked this as a train tour package from the motels website ([--]) and it included 2 nights accommodations, 2 train tickets to Agawa Canyon, breakfast and lunch on the train, a casino voucher for a free gift (deck of cards), $5 to play with, a coupon book for free or reduced admission to attractions in Sault Ste. Marie. This cost $178/person.
When we first pulled into the parking lot, we thought it wasn't going to be a nice motel, but when we got in our room, we were pleasantly surprised. The room was updated and clean. We had a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, cable TV, alarm clock, phone and a hair dryer.
We didn't hear any out side noise from the road with the A/C on, or even when the top window vents were open there was no loud traffic noise.
Oh, the beds were so comfy. I have never slept on a better bed at a motel, or hotel. They were better than mine at home. They must have been new this summer. The first night we slept together and the double was a little crowded for 2, but the next night we went solo and slept like babies.
The grocery store/ strip mall was right across the street, along with some fast food places and other places for shopping.
The Train Station was about a 5 min drive from the motel.
I'd recommend this motel, as it was a great place to stay comfortable for a couple nights at a reasonable price.

I highly recommend this motel. It was clean, cute and inviting. I stayed for 2 nights on my way up to Thunder Bay and went back for a night on my way back down. Very reasonable rates. The staff are very helpful and freindly. I will go back there again!

We were shown the room first. The check-in was fast and efficient. The owner was very friendly. The room was nothing fancy, but nice and clean, very comfortable bed. Hair dryer was appreciated. Close to restaurants and main road so we could resume our journey early. We would definitely stay here again as it is so reasonable in price.
