Detailed Reviews
We had another great stay at the Delta although it would be a good idea to keep the dogs to one part of the hotel. Not everyone loves dogs! Parents are expected to see that their children behave and it should be the same for pet owners. That said, the staff are wonderful and the food is amazing. It would have been good to see reminders given to those customers who did not wear a mask at the breakfast buffet. There were lots of them and, for some, it could just be forgetfulness. There is no room cleaning due to COVID restrictions so it would be nice to see a bit of a reduction on the bill! However, the staff are very quick to deliver fresh towels etc and you can ask to have the sheets changed. The good things far outweigh the rest. Thanks for another great stay.

+1
The reasons we selected the Delta Sault Ste. Marie Waterfront were that is offers pet friendly rooms and a place to walk said pet. We did run into 3 or 4 other pets and owners during our brief one night stay.
I found the beds comfortable and the room reasonably appointed with a few exceptions that I will mention. It was nice to have a sitting chair and small table, but notice that there's only a single night stand between the beds. This is not uncommon but still annoying if you're on the outside and need to hack someplace to put stuff (like your phone). The night stand itself does not offer accessible AC power or USB charging outlets. I ended up unplugging the clock to get an outlet for my charging cube.
Are the floor tiles in the bathroom heated? That's nice.
The hotel is indeed right on the waterfront trail and that gave us a place to exercise the dog. Plus the staff told us about a pet friendly patio where we had our dinner.
COVID-19 protocols are in place and there are plexi shields between the desk staff and guests, the desk has a cup of clean pens, and used pens. Masks are required in common areas. Upon completed your stay, you can have your bill e-mailed to you.

We spent one night at the Delta, where we were assigned a great room overlooking the river and the passing of lake freighters into Lake Superior. All of the staff were terrific. We were able to order our dinner and breakfast from their main floor dining room. Due to Covie restrictions the dining room was closed, but they provided us with China plates, metal cutlery and glasses for our wine, which we appreciated. I enjoyed the baked brie appetizer and salmon for my entree. Would recommend the brie as an appetizer to be shared, as itmis a very large serving. My husband enjoyed his scallops as an appetizer. He found his rib eye steak, ordered medium rare, to be perfectly cooked. We had the full breakfast the next morning, a 3 egg omelette accompanied by home fries, fresh fruit and toast. Overall an excellent experience. All covid protocols were followed by this hotel and their staff.

Having stayed here while passing through Sault last summer, I was looking forward to a similar pleasant experience for a brief overnight while driving through. However, other than some random stickers on the floor and plexiglass at the front desk, this hotel is not enforcing social distancing. As a result, I felt extremely uncomfortable and went straight to my room and didn’t leave until I checked out the next day. There are groups of young people using the pool who aren’t social distancing and aren’t part of the same social circle. The hotel is so packed that the elevators are backlogged, resulting in 10 people or more packing themselves in at the same time. The “consider riding alone” sign in the lobby does nothing to prevent this. Mask wearing is very casual through the lobby; mainly only when people initially enter. Once going from the elevator to pool or restaurant, masks aren’t being worn. At the front desk, crowds of people approach and stand closely together to wait to speak to the one person working. I’ve had to stay at other hotels in Sault, Thunder Bay, and Winnipeg for essential travel since the pandemic began, and this hotel is by far the worst.

First this is a 100% dog friendly hotel .. there are dogs of all kinds all over the place and the entire hotel reeks of wet dog smell including my room . I am allergic to dogs and I was assured when I found out at check in only this was a dog hotel - not when I made the reservation- that if a dog is in any room it is deep cleaned .. I can tell you that is untrue or my room would not of reeked of dog smell. I am shocked that the Delta/Mariott chain allows for dog in ANY room and there are not specific floors /rooms that only allow dogs for those of us who are allergic or not a dog person...if you want to take an elevator with a Doberman or a German Shepard then this is the hotel for you. Dog pee on a couple of occasions in the elevator which was disgusting. The only reason I gave this a 1 is because I couldn't go any lower and the front desk staff were really great. The first night at 1 am I had to call down for a party going on above me that took 2 calls to get that quieted down. I tried to go into the dining room for a coffee the first morning and I was told I could not because you were only allowed if you ordered the buffet?? What kind of rule is this? So I had to leave the hotel to get a coffee as I was not going to stay in my room that stunk of dog. There was a couple trying to take their dog into the dining room,,thank god at least they were told no to that. it was like being at an SPCA. The service on the patio the first night was terrible. no one came back to check on us at all although the 2nd night it was much better, no dogs and a very nice patio and the food was fairly good..all in all I will never go back to this hotel again.. also the smokers in front of every entrance/exit including the main front entrance was another annoyance,,, so if your ok with smokers and dogs all over the place and not a very clean hotel you might be ok here ..also they do not clean your rooms in the morning another thing I found out after the fact ,,due to covid ?? but they still charge full rates ..less service same price? its a beautiful location on the waterfront and has such potential to be a nice hotel ..

This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. It was dirty and run down. Paying Delta prices for complete filth. We arrived late and had to change rooms 4 times until finally the last room was at least doable. I was so looking forward to this hotel due to the location and the beautiful boardwalk outside, I was so so so disappointed with this place. I did end up receiving one night free because of the huge inconvenience of moving rooms 4 times after midnight and the front desk manager the next morning was super nice but the whole experience at this Delta was just terrible. The food on the patio restaurant also sucked, it was cold when it arrived and the burger was burned to a crisp and wasn’t even edible. I’m not sure how this Delta has high ratings. The bathrooms were disgusting and we found hair in our beds. Dusty and old lipstick smeared on the bathroom door, some kind of weird grime on the shower glass door.

Nice hotel. Great location.
we stayed 3 days. Our room was a little run down, shower needed regrouting and the arm chair had tears in the fabric. However, we have a dog so I’m wondering if the rooms that have pets are a little less meticulous. Which is fine, I’m just sharing an observation.
Beautiful location, we could walk all over, and our room had a lovely view of the bridge.
Pool was nice if a little stuffy. It would have been nice if they could open a window or a sliding glass door on warm days.
Gym was under renovation, so unable to use that.
All the staff I interacted with was friendly, helpful and engaging.
An overall lovely experience, and we will go back, BUT the bar downstairs…I walked in to order a drink and had zero acknowledgement for 10 minutes plus. There were two people ahead of me who also appeared to have not been acknowledged so I just waited.
The first guy had a group of 4, and he finally gave up. He said he had been there a half hour. The bar tender was “busy” with the three people seated in front of her and never looked elsewhere. Chatting, etc. I did not see drinks actively being served. Finally the woman in front of me walked over and said she wanted to order and the bartender seemed surprised. We were standing AT the bar, and there were 6 people seated, three of which she was chatting with.
The woman in front of me ordered her drink and then said “She is waiting to order as well!” pointing at me.
I ordered a dirty Grey Goose Martini with Bleu Cheese Olives. About 10 minutes later I was served a half full not chilled martini with pimento olives, and was charged $22 Canadian.
Again, nice hotel, fine for dogs and kids, don’t bother with the bar. Walk down the street for better options.

Rooms on the water have great views of the river. Pool is not heated but it was empty so we had it to ourselves. Rooms were clean. We made a reservation for 2 adults and one child for a room with a bed and a pullout bed, arrived to no sheets on the pullout. Requested housekeeping to make up the pullout - arrived promptly but he tried to hand me the sheets - I said please make the bed, he said he had never done one before. Anyway in the end, the bed was made nicely but it should have been done before check in.

We spent two nights at the Delta, where we had dined while on a return from from the states eight years ago, and remembered a fantastic meal. Our original plan was to do the Agawa Canyon Train trip but that was cancelled so we enjoyed The Soo and the hotel. Our room was spacious with a great view of St. Mary's River and the US on the far side. Since the train trip was cancelled, we asked for suggestions and the receptionist was a fount of information--enough for more than two days! Eggs Benedict for breakfast was excellent, as was dinner at a table next to the floor to ceiling windows and another great river view. The food was as good as we had remembered from years earlier. While we didn't take advantage of the location for walking or shopping, the hotel is located next to a river-front walking trail and across the street from a mall.

We stayed on the 8th floor in a room facing the water with a beautiful view and king bed! This time of year there’s plenty of hockey tournament travellers, so we asked for a room on a floor where there wouldnt be hockey kiddos and they gladly accommodated us. The room is clean and has a humongous TV. Our room had a spacious shower (no bathtub).
We went to the pool and there’s a nice big hot tub there that overlooks the water too. We really enjoyed the pool area. It’s well taken care of, seemed very clean, and the jets in the hot tub were nice. The change rooms are spacious and there were plenty of towels by the pool.
This is random, but I really enjoy Delta’s water campaign with waterdrops. There are water bottle filling stations on every floor by the ice machine, and you’re given a glass carafe for your room. No more plastic water bottles! I really like this extra touch.

Sorry, we don't travel with a pet so the best thing would be to call the hotel directly. They are very pleasant.
