The Water Tower Inn, BW Premier Collection, receives a mix of feedback from guests. While the hotel is applauded for its overall cleanliness, welcoming atmosphere, and range of amenities, including a pool and pet-friendly services, there are concerns regarding value. Some guests have expressed dissatisfaction with what they perceive as high prices relative to the quality of the rooms and service, which they find to be occasionally inconsistent. Room experiences vary, with cleanliness and space often noted, yet outdated decor and comfort issues are drawbacks. The location's convenience is acknowledged by some, but others are wary about safety.

I Travel for work with my dogs and try to avoid hotels that have lower quality rooms / locations of rooms.

If travling with pets the room will be of lesser quality (this is to be expected) but paying the same rate as other rooms and then a pet fee brining the room rate even higher seems a bit much. the fee and reasoning for "enhanced" cleaning after pets seems a bit redundant even right now when they are boasting that they are doing enhansed cleaning of all room and areas due to COVID..

Reception was nice and friendly, I arrived a little late due to construction, I was asked if i was traveling alone, and advised I had dogs, I was offered a free Adult beverage with with pruchesed dinner but was advsied that the location was closing in 15 min, I stated I had to quickly get my dogs settled and would be right do for food as i was hungery and thanked her. I showed up ~5 min of closing and the gates were closed and the server told me they were closed even when i asked for a quick order to go back to my room. Oh well..

I'm sorry that we did not fully meet your expectations. Due to guest feedback, we have recently extended the restaurant hours to 10pm, which should hopefully help avoid this situation in the future. I hope you'll give us another try.

This is my second stay with 2 dogs in tow. The room was clean, quiet and prepared for 4 legged guests with treats (that were eaten before I found the light switch!) and a doggie bowl. Since the room is likely cleaned a little more thoroughly with dogs travelling through them, the $30 extra is not outrageous.
We had the breakfast to go, which was a nice option. It would have been helpful to know about the express check out, but as it was, it did not take too long.
I will stay here again, and recommend to others with pets.

I rarely complete reviews, but I feel that your hotel staff were excellent. We were travelling home during this Covid-19 crisis and needed a place to stay to take a break from driving. Your host was welcoming and professional. There was great signage and clearly visible instructions on not only what you were doing, but what i was to do in handling myself as a customer. The rate was fair and the host was obviously caring in her description of where and how to park, and gave us a room close to our car to ease with my family getting in and out. The atmosphere was ghost-like, but very clean. The cleaning staff was in the area both at night & in the morning cleaning high traffic areas and the hotel. The room was as expected, clean and everything worked. My kids downloaded movies for the next days trip using the wifi and my wife enjoyed a clean shower. The next day the staff was personable, and we were given a bagged breakfast for the road. They clearly cared for their customers which I greatly appreciated in a time where corporate banality is the norm. I like that the hotel is a unique example of the hard-working, thoughtful and caring people who own and run it. I chose to stay there because I had once stayed there as a motorcyclist where I too was given personal attention. Thanks & I hope all your employees return once this crisis is over as I'm sure they have a good employer.

Families hoping for a nice getaway with their children should be warned that the pool has a “no fun” policy. Children cannot jump into the pool, children swimming in the pool must not make any splash with their legs or arms. Essentially, children must stand or sit in the pool only. We booked for three nights at the hotel as a “Covid-safe Staycation”- our only fun getaway all summer with our three children, hoping to give them a fun three days playing in the pool. Our kids were not being boisterous, noisy, diving or running in the pool. They were respectful of their distance from other patrons. The kids were asked to stop jumping or creating any splash in the pool. The issue is that the hotel pool also serves as a “club” for local community members and so has a “no fun” policy. The hotel pool priority is for the club members and not for hotel guests— families be warned. We checked out early and moved to another hotel in the city that allows kids to be kids. This hotel is not recommended for families or sports teams. There are lots of better hotels in the city. We will not be back.

Stayed here on the return leg of a 3 week road trip out west. I booked online and added the box lunch ($16,95 ea) and dinner vouchers ($20 for $25 value), and the breakfast was included because we booked online ourselves. I'm so happy we added these to our booking, definitely worth it! The food from the in house restaurant was absolutely delicious!

For supper we had the cashew chicken stir fry, butternut squash raviolli, a glass of Jaskson triggs, apple something or other and fried banana cheesecake.

Grab and go breakfast: we chose yogurt with fresh strawberries, a muffin, juice and coffee (starbucks) and a breakfast sandwich

Boxed lunch: we chose turkey clubs minus the bacon, 1 pasta salad, 1 green salad, 2 brownies and drinks.

All the food was very fresh and flavourful. The portions were huge. We both had leftovers of our supper that we popped in our cooler and ended up eating for supper again the next night. The boxed lunches were also big portions. We actually split a sammie and ate our salads and had the 2nd sammie for our lunch the next day.

Room: We stayed on the 4th floor. our view was of the rooftop and the main roadway so if you care about the view you might want to stay on the opposite side...we didn't care as much by this point in our trip so no biggee. The room was very clean and comfortable. The coffee maker is the typical one cup keurig type machine but what I loved was that the coffee pod also had a disposable tray, so you know that you're not drinking someone else's residue. Covid made me a germophobe (I'm immune compromised) so this was a really nice touch for me as I am a coffee-holic :)

The staff were all very knowledgeable and really nice. Very personable and we had some chats which was also a nice touch rather than just the standard check-in/out. I had misunderstood when I booked online and received the receipt and thought I had paid (this is what usually happens when I book online) and the staff was very patient explaining and showing me on the receipt that my card wasn't charged and it was actually simply my confirmation, so if you book online check your receipt and if the "deposit amount" says zero then you haven't paid for the room yet.....I had mistakenly thought that was the hold they put on your card when you arrive and not the receipt for payment because it said "deposit" not 'room charge"

Overall it was a great stay. The hotel is nice, it's clean and all of the staff we encountered from front desk, to wait staff to the cleaning staff were really sweet. It's on the main drag from highway so it's easy to get back on the road quickly. We were actually surprised that we couldn't hear the road noise at all from our room, 4th floor isn't that high up so we expected some, but it was blissfully silent. Also you can open the windows for actual fresh air if you like.

Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed here while travelling from southern Ontario to home in northern Ontario during the COVID-19 pandemic. We stayed here because we had heard good things and knew it was pet friendly. Any employee I came in contact with did an excellent job of social distancing and there was hand sanitizer provided in public spaces/entrances. The pet friendly room was tidy but I felt as though it could have been cleaner amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. I brought my own wipes to clean as we were travelling with a small child and found a considerable amount of dirt. Perhaps my expectations were too high, not sure. We stay in SSM a few times a year and likely will not stay here again.

My whole experience there was really quite nice. The room was very comfortable, beds were comfy and everything was clean. The staff were all super nice, very professional and kind. I had thought..(insisted actually) that I had already paid for my room and the extras when I booked online and the front desk staff were super patient and kind explaining the email I received was not a receipt but just the confirmation of booking and showed me on the receipt that I wasn't actually charged as I had thought when I booked. I blame long hours driving for my stupidity :)

The restaurant there has a seriously yummy selection and the portions are huge. We ate in our room as we are still pretty Covid cautious and it was nice to have a proper table and chairs to have a meal at. We had a stirfry and butternut squash ravioli and a couple of desserts The portions were big and we actually ended up having a full second meal from the leftovers the next day, so that was pretty awesome :)

We also took advantage of the box lunch and let me tell you it was well worth the $16.95. We both chose the turkey club and it was shaved turkey with the freshest wholegrain bread ever! The boxed lunch comes with a sammie, side salad, a drink and a dessert. That's a lot of food for lunch.

We chose the grab an go breakfast instead of sitting in restaurant and it was also a lot of food! A yummy and super fresh egg sammie on a fluffy brioche type bun, a yogurt with fresh strawberries and a starbucks dark roast coffee. A great start to a long day of driving.

. I really liked the in-room Starbucks coffee pods with a disposable tray, it was nice to know that I wasn't perking my coffee through someone else's dirty filter lol

Beds were comfy and it was also nice to have a proper table and chairs to sit and eat our meals as myself and my travel companion are immune compromised and still not comfortable going back to public activities.

This trip was a road trip from the Niagara region to Edmonton-- 16 days in total and I stayed in numerous hotels and Air bnb along the way and I have to say that this hotel at the end of our trip was one of the nicest experiences we had. The staff made our stay effortless, they were all incredibly nice and accommodating. I would absolutely stay here again and definitely will recommend your hotel to others.

Thanks for a great stay!

Stayed in the Governor General's Suite for a larger gather of friends, which including a large dinner in Casey's downstairs as room service was not an option.

The room was fine, no real complaints there, perhaps 8ncluding more than two full sized towels for a 2 bedroom suite would be a good idea.

The main problems came to dealing with the front staff. When the reservation was made, I was told the price of the room and was told that a $600 deposit was required for the room, which was fine. Upon check in, that had changed to requiring both the full room price plus the deposit upfront, so over $1000 upfront on a credit card. Was told this is policy, regardless of what I was told on the phone.

Second, I requested a late check-out, was told 1pm for checkout the night of the stay. At 1145am I recieved a call in the room requesting us to leave at 12 noon as the room had to be cleaned, I refused based on the late check-out promised the night of check in. Took some arguing but it was granted.

While on the phone discussing the fact that I had a late check-out, the deposit charge came up again, and this staff member informed me that it was a $1000 deposit plus room charge.

Upon checkout I also learned about a local municipal tax on my bill, which didn't list the % amount, only the total. Also this tax is also taxable by the HST. So basically, tax on a tax...whether or not this is the responsibility of the hotel or not, it should be disclosed upfront.

Front line staff need to be coached on policies to offer a more streamlined and harmonized stay experience for all clients.

Hello, I'm sorry to hear you found our communication lacking. For the suite you stayed in, the "deposit" is $600 on top of room and tax. So the pre-authorization that was taken on your card was correct. We will re-iterate with our team how to communicate this with our guests in order to avoid confusion. As for the Municipal Accommodations Tax, all accommodations partners in Sault Ste. Marie are required to charge it according to municipal law. We always quote our rates with "tax and fees" to try to make this clear. Thanks for sharing and I hope you travel safely.

After a long drive all I wanted to do was lay down. I enter the hotel and there is hand sanitizer and signs stating that if you are experiencing coughing or such which was amazing seeing that we need to be ensuring that we are keeping up with the cleaning process due to COVID 19. That being said I checked in with a lady who needed a shower. Her hair was greasy and her clothes looked like they haven't been washed. I could honestly smell her from 6 feet social distance away. I was disgusted. If I wasn't so tired I would have went somewhere else. On my return travels I was going to book somewhere else, but your beds are heaven and everyone else was amazing. But when I went to check in the front desk girl was amazing, very friendly and quick to get me checked in. I mentioned what had happened on my previous stay, and i mentioned that I wanted to speak to the manager about the hygiene issue, and she gave me the reception managers card, and guess what the issue with hygiene was the MANAGER. That is absolutely appalling.

We were very impressed with this Best Western, very clean, practised social distance, and wore masks. The room was wonderful, great bed, and quiet. It was so nice to be able to walk inside to Casey's for a complimentary breakfast, and easy for our supper meal. Staff was friendly, well dressed, and very helpful in all areas.
