Detailed Reviews
We spent 2 nights in Sault Ste Marie and drove to see the city on our second day so our location didn't need to be central or downtown. Location was on the north side of town on Highway 17.
We had a NS, King Suite with a separate living room/sitting and bedroom area. We had a fridge, microwave, sofa bed, wet bar, chair and desk. The sitting area was nice but a little compact with all the furniture in it. Large room, with good sized bathroom, everything was well kept and clean. Bedroom was a bit cramped as bed on one side was pretty close to the AC unit.
The continental breakfast was open and proof of vaccination was required for access. Room was quiet as the hotel was sort of perpendicular to the highway.
There were several restaurant options within walking distance. We tried Chuck's Roadhouse and Giovanni's and both were very good.
We would stay here again.

Check in was amazing, Sarah was super helpful. This is place is very motorcycle friendly, Sarah helped us move a bench so we could park our bikes under the canopy. Very clean rooms, spacious. Pool and Hot tub were closed due to Covid, unfortunately, but looked to be in nice shape. Would highly recommend this place if you are in the Soo!

This is a great place as it is at the northern end of Sault Ste Marie. For those who are tired of driving from Thunder Bay and beyond, this hotel isna welcome sight.
Rooms are decent, the breakfast is nice as well.
They are taking their cleaning protocols seriously. When they take your ID and credit card, they spray alcohol on them. And when checking out, there are two bins both drowning in alcohol where you are supppsed to drop your keycard in one and your keycard container on the other. I have not seen any other hotels doing that.
But better safe than sorry! Sault Ste. Marie after all is a full day drive from both Thunder Bay and Toronto, so a lot of cross country travellers stay at the hotels in the area.

Dear thankunextbeach, Thank you for choosing the Fairfield By Marriott Sault Ste. Marie. We really do take the cleanliness of our hotel seriously. We have the key disinfecting station to protect our guests and staff, the keys are always cleaned after every use. We've done this from the day we opened our doors, we just have it visable now so guests can see how we care for you. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed our modified breakfast bags, a fruit cup, a Jimmy Dean sandwich and a yogurt, with Juice and coffee available is a reasonable breakfast and hopefully a way to provide a little bit to everyone. We are striving to make travellers like yourself feel safe, and I'm bouyed by your feedback that you noticed and feel it may even have been overboard! This is exactly what we're going for, always trying to do more, never less. Thank you again for choosing to rest with us, we hope to see you again some day! Be safe.

Do they give installers IQ tests? Or should we blame the one who gives them instructions? The installer was given the task of installing shower curtain rails and curtains. Well, the installation went perfectly until he got to a room with a roll-in shower. Well, the rod fitted in the same place leaves the curtain a foot off the floor. Water that hits the floor splashes and runs into the bathroom. Why not install the rod one foot lower so the curtain touches the floor? Or, install a longer curtain. The bath seat is mounted on the wall farthest from the taps/controls. Hotels have now taken to providing bottles of body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. They are mounted near the controls. I can't stand to shower. But when I am seated I can just about reach the conditioner. My finger tips can touch the shampoo. Body wash, forget it. I bought a bottle a Walmart.
Could someone make this bathroom useable and accessible? Give those of us who need an accessible shower the chance to use one.
Otherwise the hotel was fine.
(Kristen, we will be back in four weeks)

Stayed for one night and checked in very nicely. Room was small and for anyone claustrophobic it would seem very small. Cotton sheet and blanket on the bed were very thin and no extra blanket in the closet made it a little cool to sleep despite turning the heat up. Finally dozing off around 1100pm after a long day of driving when we were awoken by the snow clearing machine outside with a loud thud every time he dropped the blade and of course the beeping every time he reversed.
Continental breakfast was okay; nothing outstanding. I usually write fair reviews on hotels but just not feeling it with this Marriott for some reason and will likely stay elsewehere next time in town. Disappointed.

Dear RichChar05; Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with us. Judging by your first impressions, your check in experience was pleasant, for that I'm grateful to hear. I'm sorry to hear you didn't find the room large enough for your needs. Our location does in fact have large suites of two varieties, that have extra space, with a couch area that perhaps would be a better suited choice for you. It's always unfortunate to hear that our efforts at snow removal are being disruptive to guests; we'll certainly speak to our snow removal company to try to fine tune their arrival times. In addition, our hot buffet breakfast consists of vegetarian patties, sausage or bacon, 2 kinds of eggs, yogurt, fresh cut fruit, whole fruit, hot oatmeal, waffles, 4 kinds of cereal, 4 varieties of bagels, English muffins, Multigrain bread, 2 kinds of sweet breads, with a variety of pastries to choose from. If there was something special you'd like to see included or you'd like to elaborate on any point, we'd love to hear from you personally. Please call us toll free 1-877-444-0094 - You can ask to speak with myself, or the General Manager David Cartmill.

We stayed for three nights in a king size suite. Room was spacious and very clean. Hotel is close to a busy road but we heard very little noise at night.
Gym was good and well equipped. Breakfast was also good with eggs, bacon, bagels etc.
Hotel is close to Walmart Supercentre and other large stores.
My only gripe was the laundry. One washing machine and dryer. Cost $1.75 each. I had to hunt around for some coins in the end Reception came to my aid but it would be good if these were free, such a small amount of money when you consider our total bill was $800+.
Apart from that all good.

Room 328 for one night. The room was well laid out. The bed was comfortable. The room and bathroom were very clean. Our sleep was uninterrupted by outside noise. The hot tub and pool were very welcome after our drive. The staff were very friendly. A nice place to stay. A full self serve breakfast was included. The hotel is located on the north edge of town so a drive is required to any off site activities.

I've stayed at Fairfield Inn properties before but I have to say, overall very disappointed in this one. The common areas seemed ok but that all changed once in our room. It was tired and worn out. The beds were terrible. I actually sunk in mine and had awful sleep. The other bed had small what appeared to be blood stain on blanket.
The TV in the room had bad reception and ao tiny. I've stayed in Sault st Marie many times and there are far better options especially in that price range. Maybe it was just a bad room but I can only review what I was offered. Based on my personal experience, I'll definitely look elsewhere next stay.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience while staying with us. Your experience of an unsightly stain is below our standard. Providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and IÂ sincerely apologize for failing to meet your expectations. I have shared your feedback with the housekeeping leadership team to ensure the necessary guidelines are in place and reviewed to prevent this from occurring in the future. I hope you choose to stay with us again when your travels bring you back to the area.

During this month we have stayed at 18 hotels - including Marriott, Hilton, Best Western, Holiday Inn, and Sandman. The Fairfield Inn in Sudbury gets the booby prize for accessible showers. On our first visit earlier this month, my husband pointed out the shortcomings of the roll-in shower. The comment from the manager was that she would bring it to the attention of maintenance. Well four weeks later in the same room, nothing had changed. Obviously, maintenance did not get the memo.
See attached photos:
The bottom of the shower curtain is still 2 feet off the floor. My idea is that the fact that water splashes and runs over the floor is of no consequence since they provide an extra towel to mop it up. Plus there is a second drain in the middle of the bathroom. Given that why bother having a curtain at all?
He also mentioned that a person seated cannot reach the bottles mounted on the wall. This has a partial fix since there were extra bottles of shampoo and conditioner also provided. The body wash is still impossible to reach. So the accessible shower is okay except for a person who has to sit.
Don't worry Kristin we will not be back.

Dear TimTimToronto; Since taking over as GM in May, I've been trying to organize a few important details in the hotel. It's a shame that you didn't get a chance to see the new shower curtains I've ordered for that room. I truly wish the order had come in before your next stay, though as we'd never ask a guest to clean the bathroom themselves, I imagine the perception is what bothered you. We have a drain installed in the bathroom floor, and the curtain is higher to provide less of an issue for those in a wheel chair. It's also a shame that you didn't come to speak with me personally. You mentioned shampoo and conditioner in your last review and my housekeeping team added those to your room for you. I apologize this gesture failed to meet the mark. I wish you the best.

A typical Fairfield Inn and the very good staff made us feel very welcome. Very near to many restaurants and shops. The breakfast was much better than many Fairfield Inns even though the juice came in those little boxes with straws. For some reason the TV’s only broadcast in Analog which provides a poor picture on A HDTV. We enjoyed our stay.

Funny thing is my husband works for sleep Country, in Cambridge. He has been there for 20 years so knows mattresses.
His name is Barry.
We are not a pet friendly hotel, with the exception of service animals only. Within a close proximity to the Fairfield Inn & Suites is the Watertower Inn and they do allow pets in some of their rooms, I just believe there is an extra fee for a pet.
