While the accommodations are celebrated for their tidiness, opinions are mixed regarding their comfort and value, as some visitors find them costly and raise concerns over deposit and readiness issues. In 2024, my daughter and I visited Great Wolf Lodge three times—June, November, and December—which should tell you just how amazing this place is. Yes, it’s pricey, but in my opinion, it’s worth every penny for the unique experience. The water park is massive and spacious, with slides for all ages and relatively reasonable wait times (just avoid Saturdays!). In June, the water park was perfectly warm, even for a 6-month-old in our group, but November and December were a bit chilly when stepping out of the water—expect some teeth chattering!

Summer visits offer the added bonus of outdoor activities like pools and hot tubs for the same price, making it the best time to go. The food options are varied and delicious, but they’re expensive, and the wait times can be frustrating, especially on weekends. The steakhouse allows reservations, but food can take 30-50 minutes to arrive, so don’t come starving. The buffet is first-come, first-serve with a QR code system for long waits—on Saturdays, we waited 80 minutes for dinner in November, though June and December were much more manageable.

We tried three types of rooms: a standard 2-queen room (June), a suite with bunk beds (November), and a cottage (December). All were spacious, clean, and odor-free despite the hotel’s age. However, a note about the cottages—they’re detached from the main building, so running outside in freezing December temperatures after swimming was a challenge (and I ended up sick—lesson learned to dress warmer!).

The resort offers lots of free activities like yoga, storytime, a disco, and plenty of photo opportunities, all of which are great for younger kids. We also purchased PAW passes each time, which kept the kids entertained with activities like MagiQuest and crafts. A heads-up: the mini-golf included in the PAW pass is outdoors, so it’s closed in winter, and the indoor golf isn’t included—it’s an additional $47 for a family.

Overall, Great Wolf Lodge is a fantastic, family-oriented destination, especially for kids under 8. It’s one-of-a-kind, and despite the cost, we’ll absolutely be returning in May 2025!

My son loved every time we went to Great Wolf Lodge near Seattle, while we lived there.
He has been asking to return to Great Wolf Lodge since the pandemic, 2020.
It was our first time staying here. and we loved it!!!

This one is bigger than the one near Seatte. There are many more things to do and many activities.

We enjoyed the hotel so much, we had little time to see the falls.

My family recently enjoyed a stay at Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls, and while it was a fantastic experience overall, some aspects left us questioning the hefty price tag.

Accommodations:
Our Wolf's Den suite was undeniably spacious, but the dated decor and the bunk bed experience fell short of expectations. Considering the premium cost, we hope that the management considers upgrading and refurbishing the accommodations to match the overall quality of the lodge.

Water Park:
The water park, however, was the undisputed highlight of our trip. The wave pool, slides, and the adult-only outdoor hot pool provided endless thrills and relaxation. The lifeguards were attentive, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Activities:
Great Wolf Lodge offers a variety of activities beyond the water park, catering to kids of all ages. Our son had a blast with the interactive experiences, and the daily character appearances added a magical touch to the stay.

Dining:
While the breakfast buffet was enjoyable, it's worth noting that the vegetarian and non-pork options were somewhat limited. A bit more variety in this regard would undoubtedly enhance the dining experience for a broader range of guests.

Customer Service:
The staff at Great Wolf Lodge were friendly and accommodating, addressing our concerns promptly. Their commitment to ensuring a positive experience was evident throughout our stay.

In conclusion, Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls is an ideal destination for families seeking a perfect blend of excitement and relaxation. However, with a touch of refurbishment and attention to detail in accommodations, the lodge could truly elevate its status as a top-notch family getaway. We look forward to the possibility of returning after some thoughtful upgrades!

We got to the hotel at 11 and went to check in. There wasn’t much of a line but somehow the wait was long. Our room wasn’t ready at 11 which was fine. We were told that we would receive priority check in and that they would call us. We were handed our package and went down to the water park only to find that they only gave us 4 wristbands instead of 5. Back up to reception to stand in another line. Got that sorted and went to the water park. There until after 3 so went back up to reception to get our room. They don’t have our room because now the internet is down. Somehow they couldn’t find us a room but we could spend money at the facilities…. Went back after 4 and stood in another line. Finally got our room. The room was fine.
Went back up to our room around 7 and there still wasn’t any internet and we got a text message saying that the internet was down and that this would be a good opportunity to enjoy more family time by disconnecting. We have 3 children (1 neurodivergent) and internet is essential for them and us to have a calm relaxing time. Terrible night
In the morning I spoke with - David guest services manager and asked how GWL would compensate guests for lack of internet services.
I was told that the Internet is a complimentary service so nothing was going to be done?!!!! Like where does the money come from to pay for the internet if not from building it into the guests package? Also, the website says they have internet service and that it’s included so the expectation is that there be working internet service. We have stayed here every year and before this have had seamless experiences and have really enjoyed our stay. For the price point of this trip and the lack of customer service and lack of accountability when something goes wrong we won’t be back. It’s not GWL’s fault that there was no internet BUT it is their responsibility to make it right. On top of this the wait for breakfast wasn’t great. I feel like they need a bigger seating area/more food services.

Great wolf lodge Niagara Falls

The room seemed clean until my kids were playing and found a half empty water bottle and 2 kids toys that had been left behind.

The beds were ok, but not great.

The conditioner in the bathroom was empty.

The halls are LOUD at night!!! There are signs stating that the activities all end at ten, however there are parents in the halls yelling at their kids and kids running screaming and yelling until at least 11pm. We had a terrible time trying to get our kids to sleep with so much noise.

The housekeeping service does not clean the room or make the beds. So we had soiled bedding to be replaced and when we got back from the day at the waterpark we still had soiled bedding and towels that we had to figure out how to deal with. Housekeeping staff refused to enter the room and gave us a bag and told us to leave it in the hall for them.

Used cups weren’t replenished either, and the garbage wasn’t changed.

We have 2 kids, (3 and 5) and they were tired out from the amazing waterpark after a few hours. The extra activities were cool, but super expensive.

The buffet was great for dinner and breakfast on weekdays, but once it was the weekend the buffet was so understaffed that getting food or a coffee refill was almost impossible. It was packed and uncomfortable. During the week the kitchen was excellent about allergies (chef Chris took us through everything) but on Saturday morning when I asked for margarine instead of butter because of a dairy allergy, the buffet staff said no. They were too busy to accommodate allergies and too understaffed to serve drinks. But they still charged full price.

The place is cool, the waterpark is great. If we ever go back we will only go for 1 night and only during the week, and we will either bring our own food or leave for meals. It’s more likely that we’ll visit one of the other indoor water parks in the area.

Pros: Waterpark was good and has a mix of slides and attractions for adults and kids. Room and common washrooms were always clean. Free activities for kids like story time and dance parties at night in the lobby.

Cons: Service at restaurants was horrible… unless you’re white. Which leads me to the biggest con of our trip - workers at restaurants were extremely disrespectful or ignored us completely however the white customers next to us were treated like kings and queens. Obvious racism which was very sad to see and experience.
Next: no water bottles in the room other than water fountains near the common washrooms. For the cost per night you would expect them to add a few bottles in the room. Also, no housekeeping provided. Which is shocking. They ask you “request” for things you need. So you can potentially spend around $800 per night and not get your room cleaned or have water provided.

Do not spend more than $300 per night at this place because it’s not worth it. Go during a time when it’s less busy and it’s less expensive.

We had a blast at GWL this past week. LOVE the new virtual lines for check in. Staying in our car was so much nicer than standing in a line waiting.

Room was clean and comfortable. Pull out bed was so-so. Bathroom was stocked with towels and soaps. I do recommend bringing a good conditioner as the waterpark is hard on hair. The WIFI was weak but sufficient to keep us in contact.

Hotel was not overbooked, waterpark area was not overcrowded and lines were an expected waiting time. My youngest was able to update his wand (there is a small fee) and played some magiquest happily. The kids enjoyed the arcade and lazer tag too.

We did get the food pass. The buffet has lots of variety and now has allergy/diet labels to guide you which is super. We did find it frustrating that the lines were long and moved slowly due to some items needing to be served to you instead of self serve which we understood but at the same time found frustrating. Everything was fresh and appropriate temperature. A sanitizer station adjacent plate pick-up area and/or on every table would be my only suggestion. Sanitizer was available on the wall before entering from the seating areas but it was not being used by everyone.

We had lunch at Buckets and it was great. The portions were bigger than expected.

We had an awesome trip at GWL! My family loved the water park and the restaurants were great. My daughter has celiac disease and is on a strict gluten free diet, it can be difficult to eating out but we found it so easy at GWL. The chefs went out of their way to prepare her dishes and she had a lot of options and did not get sick once. Thanks for a great stay!

We checked in and paid for our room with credit card and a $250 deposit in cash. The staff very friendly, yet for the average family I found it to be too expensive, it took 2 hours for them to get our room ready, although we were able to use the water park immediately we had nowhere to keep our clothing as all the lockers were taken. I found the rooms to be less than average and the beds extremely uncomfortable. Upon checkout they informed me that my credit card was also charged for a room deposit accidentally, and was assured it would be refunded, yet when I checked my credit card noticed the charged me not once for the room deposit but twice. I spent over 1 and a half hours trying to explain to them that they needed to return 500 to my credit card not just $250. The manager was condescending and rude . Eventually the credit card company itself said they would help me dispute the charges but only after 3 days. And the manager told me I could come back to straighten it out after 7 days even though I live 3 to 4 hours drive away .I will never go there again . They aren’t worth the hype and to make that big of a mistake and not want to correct it is not right. How many people have they done this to and them not notice?

This is our third year staying at Great Wolf Lodge as we love it so much.

The whole experience is really well thought out, with the attention to detail, great food, brilliant water park and other entertainment delivering a fantastic holiday for the whole family.

This year we purchased the Wolf Pass, which has been worth every penny, especially with the less than favourable weather.

The breakfast and dinner buffets are so well put together, with loads of options to suit everyone, even fussy eaters! Lunchtime options are also good, and you can eat in the water park.

The range of slides and activities within the water park itself suit all ages, and even things like the life guards, towel availability, seating provision etc are just what is needed. The staff are so friendly at all times, and always on point for entertaining the kids.

There is just so much to see and do here, and that's why we keep coming back.
