The guesthouse is decorated in a Victorian style with Victorian finishings and photos. Wendy is a lovely hostess who takes care of the visitors. Breakfast provided was tasty. It's a perfect place those looking peace and relaxation in countryside
Wonderful relaxing overnight stay at this amazingly restored and decorated B&B in an out of the way historic village. With so much to do in Wakkerstroom and surrounding area from Birding, hiking, trail running, mountain biking and adventure riding to name a few, to really top class restaurants, historic buildings and more, there really is something for everyone to enjoy. Wendy is a wonderful hostess. Attentive, knowledgeable and always available, she is happy to advise on things to do, places to see and where to eat. She will willingly show you her wonderful garden and happily discuss the history of the area.
A large ball and claw bath and a Victorian fireplace in the room made this a very romantic visit indeed. Wendy is as unique and authentic as her guest house. Always willing and obliging her breakfasts were delicious and varied and a delight.
What a beautiful house! Laventaba is a treasure trove of shabby chic design, Wendy has the most exquisite collection of furniture, fabric, lamps, glassware, crisp cotton linen, hand crocheted merino blankets, all a feast for the senses. Mattresses are firm and pillows plentiful. From the wide porch you look over a classic rambling english garden filled with rose bushes, lush lawn, willow trees, and in the next field the neighbour’s shetland ponies graze, make sure to see at least one sunset, it’s quite magnificent. Despite all her rare and beautiful things, Wendy is relaxed and hospitable, no need to worry about coasters or being extra careful with muddy shoes, she just wants you to have a great time and enjoy the space. Breakfasts were superb and generous, ask for the mushroom…
Wendy and Steve are the perfect hosts! They made us feel at home right away with their warm welcome, hospitality, 'home from home' accommodation & mouth-watering breakfasts! It is beyond quaint & steeped in history - not only the building but the fascinating bric-a-brac: you can spend hours browsing in EACH room - the detail is fascinating. The beds are super comfortable & your bath overlooks the garden! The garden is stunning & the village is a comfortable, safe 5 - 10 minute stroll away. We can't wait to return! Thanks again Wendy & Steve! Sue & louis-THE-lawyer
