We spent one night at Laventaba on our way home from the Transkei. It is a beautifully restored and decorated home with very comfy bedding and the area is peacefully quiet. The home is set in a well-loved and cared for garden complete with beautiful chickens. Our vegan breakfast included absolutely delicious pears stewed in a light syrup with ginger, cinnamon and raisins. The pear tree outside was full of fruit and we were given some to take home with us. Thank you Wendy for a wonderful stay.
A guesthouse can make or break a weekend. Laventaba turned ours in the most perfect getaway! Beautiful old house, our bedroom had a fireplace that we used every night. Crisp white linen , good pillows ensured a good night’s sleep. All the cocks in town start crowing early in the morning. Wendy, the host, is extremely friendly, quite a character with a twinkle in the eye. One of those places we will always return to.
Majestical house, which are beautifully decorated in antique flair. Lady of the house are very lovable and very eccentric. Breakfast was good. Rooms not thoroughly cleaned though. Water in bathrooms are hot and strong.
Laventaba Guest House is such a great place to be accommodated. The owner is an absolute delight and has unsurpassed knowledge of the town and its people. Wendy went out of her way to see that we were comfortable and all our needs attended to. The décor in the guest house is something to behold and an example of good taste, hard work and a hint of nostalgia.
We used Laventaba as our base while we explored the dirt roads around Wakkerstroom on motorcycle. Wendy and her staff went out of their way to accommodate our moving schedule to serve us brunch on Saturday and an early breakfast on Sunday morning before we returned home. Besides the scrumptious fritata on Saturday and scrambled eggs Sunday morning we were spoiled with home baked scones and muffins served with multiple cups of excellent filter coffee.
What an amazing experience. Most hospitable and very accommodating. The facility has beautiful decor and will keep you looking for a while. Affordable and the breakfast is tasty. Please support Wendy.
Laventaba will transfer you to a different era with its old world character.Wooden floors, fireplaces etc.Conveniently located close to Badenhorst street where all the action is ito restaurants shops etc.Friendly host.Definitely recommended!
The guesthouse is decorated in a Victorian style with Victorian finishings and photos. Wendy is a lovely hostess who takes care of the visitors. Breakfast provided was tasty. It's a perfect place those looking peace and relaxation in countryside
Wonderful relaxing overnight stay at this amazingly restored and decorated B&B in an out of the way historic village. With so much to do in Wakkerstroom and surrounding area from Birding, hiking, trail running, mountain biking and adventure riding to name a few, to really top class restaurants, historic buildings and more, there really is something for everyone to enjoy. Wendy is a wonderful hostess. Attentive, knowledgeable and always available, she is happy to advise on things to do, places to see and where to eat. She will willingly show you her wonderful garden and happily discuss the history of the area.
