The Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta garners mixed reviews, with guests praising its cleanliness and friendly service, though some experience delays and room issues. While the beachfront location is a hit for its convenience, the value is questioned due to extra costs and underwhelming services. Rooms vary in quality, often needing updates, and the vibrant atmosphere is marred by excessive noise for some. The amenities, including pools and entertainment, are generally celebrated, but not without concerns about overcrowding and datedness.

Just returned from another great visit to Hard Rock Vallarta. Overall, great food and great service per usual. Upon arrival - we received excellent service from Yami at the vacation planner table as we overwhelmed her booking multiple spa and tasting experiences. We were traveling with a large family so this took quite some time and she was incredibly patient with our many questions, changes, requests, etc. Thank you Yami!

I also want to recognize Ale and Carolina from the kids club. My daughter was there every day and they were just the best. She was so excited to see them every day and they made her experience extra special. She regularly talks about going back just because of the kids club.

We seemed to see Juan nearly every night when we went to dinner - I assume he is some type of supervisor? He was wonderful - remembered our family, checked in on us, showed us his awesome Hard Rock tattoo, and had nothing but wonderful things to say about his coworkers and employer. It was very refreshing.

I had the most wonderful facial from Victoria in the spa. It was exactly what was needed as our week of vacation came to a close. My brother also received a facial from Victoria earlier in the week and raved about her.

We lucked out and had two Mexican fiesta nights during our week and both times we had the BEST service from Miranda. He was incredible - making us special drinks that fit our taste, bringing my husband special coffee, and offering to get food for us when he saw us struggling with a fussy baby. Up and beyond service - some of the best we have ever had. He is a gem and should be appreciated for how hard he works.

We had particularly great service at Frida as well - with Rosy, Elizabeth and Angeles (I might have spelled that wrong - sorry!) The ladies were fantastic - offering great suggestions and being extremely attentive to our large group. They even helped my daughter practice her Spanish - which made her so happy and giggle with delight. It was by far our favorite meal of the trip.

Sergio the sommelier is also fantastic. We did both the wine and tequila tastings with him and had the best time. His passion and enthusiasm for what he does is so evident and he really is a huge asset to this resort.

Backing up a second, our check in experience was disappointing - an opportunity for improvement. We booked a family suite, and beforehand, were told verbally that upon arrival, everything would be done to ensure we had an ocean view (these rooms are normally mostly pool view). I said that I was willing to change our booking if necessary to two adjoining rooms (which is basically what a family suite is, lets be real) but was told that shouldn't be necessary. Ocean view was a priority for me personally - I traveled all this way and did NOT want to sit and watch people walking by all day on the ground level. I spent a decent amount of time in the room since we traveled with a young infant who needed multiple breaks/naps. At check in- we were given a ground floor level room and told there was nothing else available. I want to believe them, but this is their slow season, and it was evident that the resort was nowhere near full. What we have come to realize over the years, is that as members, you're often given the worst rooms and have to fight your way for a better room. We tested this theory the last time we came when I booked through the website and my mom booked as a member - same category rooms, and I was given top floor/center/best views of the resort while my mom was placed in a corner with barely ocean view. I get that this is a sales tactic to entice "newbies" to buy into the membership - but its really shameful to treat your members so poorly. Just something to think about Hard Rock...

One other opportunity for improvement, I was disappointed with the service we received on our last day when we booked a cabana. We decided to treat ourselves and in the past, have always received stellar service in these settings. This time around, we were rarely checked on, the ice in our water bucket was never refreshed, we felt like we were a bother every time we asked for a drink refill, etc. I don't expect to be treated like royalty or anything, but a little extra attention goes a long way, especially when you're spending extra money on these cabanas. And for the record, although tipping is not required, we tip heavily and frequently, and are happy to do so because the service is usually so good and these people work SO HARD in the heat and conditions, its the least we can do.

Overall, wonderful as always. These issues won't stop us from returning, but I do think its worth mentioning so processes can be reviewed and improved upon possibly. :-)

The Hard Rock was a great hotel, we had an amazing vacation!! Immediately upon arrrival we were greeted with staff who took our luggage. Check in was relatively easy and we got right to our rooms. The pools and beach were amazing lots of lounge chairs but make sure to wake up early to reserve some chairs if you want good seats. I loved all the activities they had during the day at the pool and beach like water volleyball, beach volley ball, crazy game of the day, aqua aerobics, etc. The activities people like Mimi, Jessie, and Myrica who ran these activities were so fun and friendly we loved them all made our trip that much better. They had boogie boards, kayaks, and paddle boards at the beach which were included also very fun. At night time they had great entertainment like a fire show, Michael Jackson show, magic show which were all very fun! The New Year’s Eve party was absolutely amazing!! Huge buffets of food, fire dancers, a rock and roll show. All the staff dressed up as a singer and had a great dance performance. There was a light up dance floor and much much more! It was a great way to spend the new year. The food was alright. There is an Italian place, sushi, Brazilian steakhouse, and Mexican. During the day there is a buffet of Mexican food, hamburgers, and make your own pizza. I think the food could have been much better. There is something to do here for all ages, we had a 15,16,20,26,50 year old and there was something for everyone!! The bar staff made some amazing cocktails, and all the staff was super friendly! It was fun to see all the Hard Rock memorabilia of rock and roll artists all around the hotel and all the song quotes around. It has great ambiance! This is a great hotel we had an amazing vacation!! And the best part your room key is INSIDE your resort bracelet so you never have to worry about brining a key with you it was super convient!!!

We spent 11 days and 10 nights at the Hard Rock in Nuevo Vallarta (January 13th thru Jan 23rd). There was tons of stuff to do, though we spent a fair amount of time lounging in the Bali beds that Gerardo and Miguel reserved for us at our request. We went with the Rock Royalty package which got us room 8030 on the top floor with a sit-down balcony, Bali beds available for rent in a special section on the beach, and butlers/personal assistants to help with all our needs and requests. We'd had Gerardo as our personal assistant last year as well, and he was stellar as always. This year he was teamed with Miguel and both of them were superb. Sending us our daily schedule of events, booking our Bali beds, booking our boat trip to Las Caletas for dinner and the Savia show in the outdoor amphitheater, and checking with us each day to see if we wanted to make dinner reservations among other things. They also stopped by our bali bed every day just to make sure we doing well and didn't need anything. We both loved it last year which is why we came back this year, and we loved it every bit as much! We also had awesome service while in our bali beds from our servers Juan and Canario. They stopped by often to make sure we had whatever we wanted to eat or drink. Our room was meticulously cleaned twice a day. Unfortunately we don't recall our housekeeping person's name, but she was excellent! In addition, Leonardo brought our luggage up when we arrived. Each person has the name of a band or artist to go with their name. Leo had Santana. We chatted with him for a few minutes and mentioned to him that we had just seen Santana last summer. When it unfortunately was time to go, Leo took care of getting our bags down to the front of the hotel for our shuttle ride to the airport. And he remembered that we were the "Santana" couple.

The thing we love about going here is that everyone is genuinely very friendly and caring. It just feels like "home".

Again from the accomodations, service, food, nightly entertainment, and beautiful sunsets, it was an absolutely wonderful trip! We will definitely be back!

My wife and I stayed four nights here at the end of January and we won't be returning. While the service is definitely excellent (shout out to Pool Concierge Angel and Ciao waiter Cesar), the property and the food & beverages just didn't measure up.

Things got off to a rocky start when we found ants and flying bugs in our room upon arrival. I called the front desk and they clearly had heard this before as their immediate comment was, "We'll send someone up to spray the room." No surprise, no apologies, just we'll send someone up to spray. My bride did not trust whatever chemical they might use to spray so I killed the bugs over the next two days and we let it go.

We also found the food to be just okay. We're used to Moon Palace (which I acknowledge is more expensive) so maybe that was the issue for us. I didn't like that they offered only two beers in the bars - Modelo light and dark - and did not have Grey Goose or Tito's-level vodka options. Note they do have Don Julio Blanco and Reposado but it's not typically displayed so you need to ask for it.

The property itself felt small to us and it was definitely the noisiest resort we've stayed at with loud music going until 11:00 each night. Having said that, it is a Hard Rock so we probably should have expected that.

I will say we will return to PVR though. The beaches are awesome and we loved both Old Puerto Vallarta and the Marina areas. Many good restaurants, bars and clubs depending on your mood.

We booked this hotel back in February 2019 after reading some excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. I have been to Mexico a number of times and have stayed in a number of hotels in Cancun and Riviera Maya. We also stayed in Puerto Vallatra last year, so we were expecting a similar experience as to previous years with outstanding 5 star facilities. Unfortunately the Hard Rock Hotel certainly shouldn't be able to market itself at this.
Firstly to list the things that are good about the hotel
1) Hotel staff are always helpful and polite and cant do enough to help you
2) The Bedrooms were clean and well equiped
3) Pool areas very clean

On the Poor side
1) The reception to the hotel is dark and gloomy and feels very unwelcoming. The temperature in reception is always freezing and damp. It is a huge reception, but no one sits in it due to the horrible atmosphere and dampness
2) The Ciao Bar next to the restaraunt is pitch black day and night and smells of mould and dampness. We only sat in this bar twice and both nights we were bitten by what I can only presume where Mosquitoes or Mites
3) Round the pool at least 50% of the beds are reserved by staff for "Band Members" at around 6am so if you come to the pool aftre 7am there is no chance of getting a bed. These beds are then sat empty for the majority of the day as the people they were reserved for dont show up.
4) The hotel is advertsied as having around 6 restraunts. At lunch the only restaraunts available are self service. These are either the main restaraunt (same limited food every day) or the Pool restaraunt which serves uncooked burgers, raw chicken and chips. There are no restaraunts that you can sit down and order from a menu at lunch with waiter service. This isnt what I expected of a hotel of this quality.
5) In the evening The italian restaraunt is outside and had wind blowing through the restraunt every night, the mexican is the same. The brazilian is part of the main canteen, so the only "real restaurant" which was airconditioned was the Zen restaurant (Asian) this was fantastic and it is a shame the other restaurants werent to this stanadard.

At the Bars the soft drinks were very flat and beer could only be bought on draft. There was no bottled branded beers avaiable. Water could only be obtained in plastic pool glases. No bottled water was available other than in the room.
All in all, whlst the service was great this isnt a 5 star hotel by any stretch of the imagination and with a cost of over £6,000 for one room for two adults and one child for 7 days its is hugely over priced.
There are far better hotels in thsi area and other areas of Cancun. We wouldnt stay here again.

First let me preface this by saying I've never been to the Puerto Vallarta region of Mexico before so I don't really know how this resort compares to others. But I have been to the Riviera Maya region of Mexico.

We were there for a convention for work, but brought our families along as we had lots of free time.

The pros - The resort is in great shape and kept spotlessly clean. The people are extremely helpful and friendly. The servers around the pools and in the restaurants are attentive. We walked a little ways off the resort to go to a mall a couple of blocks away, and one day walked down to the marina, and always felt safe. The sunsets are breath taking and the beach very clean. We could always find chairs.

There was one big thing that we were disappointed in...the food. Most of it was just "okay" and some of it really wasn't edible. My son in law ordered the chicken mole at Jika and it was so dry he couldn't eat it. The beef dishes were always tough. The desserts were bland, although the fried ice cream at Zen was great! The food on the buffets was almost always cold. We had a hard time finding food the children would eat. The burger stand at the pool was always a hit but it closed so early...at 6 pm. The buffet closed at 4:30, So if you didn't want to eat at one of the sit down restaurants, you had two choices...pizza or room service. My daughter's family had to feed the kids in the room for three nights because there was nothing they would eat, and you could at least get burgers and chicken fingers for them in the room.

The adults did love Zen though and wished we had tried it earlier and we would have repeated it. We also loved the omelet station at Ciao. Most of the other breakfast offerings were also just "okay". The coffee was terrible!

I sound overly critical of the food, but that's one of the highlights of a vacation for us and we were sadly underwhelmed.

This is a resort geared to young people, most definitely. There's always loud rock music blaring everywhere and you really don't get the true Mexican cultural experience there, although the one night they did have a fiesta with a huge buffet and a mariachi band.

We loved Mexico and the people, but I think we'll probably steer clear of this resort next time.

This is our 14th time to this beautiful resort. We traveled March 10-19th and we cannot say enough about the awesome staff and beach. We were lucky enough to have the butlers Gerardo, Uri, Alan, and Miguel. They knew what we wanted even before we asked, cabanas, special dinners, scheduled our favorite restraunts even gave us mask and gloves for the trip home. These guys have become family to us and we cannot say enough about how good they are at their jobs. We are praying the c virus gets over quickly. Canerio, Juan, Marty, Cereso at the beach were spectacular waiters even bringing us a wet wash rag to wash our face. They knew what we drank and had it there before we asked. Samuel was an outstanding server in the sun bar his knowledge of tequilla is fantatic. Fabiola greated us each morning , Charly servered us a great dinner on the beach. we were there during the start of the corona virus and they took exceptional care to make sure that the food was served safely Zen was our favorite resteraunt and the chef cut came out and met us and Kevin was a great waiter. Hector and many other of the wait staff.

For the second year in a row Hard Rock Vallarta continues to amaze me and my husband with their outstanding customer service and beautiful resort. We spent 11 nights over the Thanksgiving holiday, and we still could have stayed even longer! We wanted to give a shout out to some of our new and old friends at the resort. To start with, we would like to say how much we appreciate everyone at the resort and all the little details they put into everything they do to make our stay the best. Thank you to Miguel, Alan, Gerardo and for everything you do. The guys made sure that our stay was a memorable one by recognizing my birthday and our anniversary. Rock Royalty is so worth it!!! Since this was our second vacation at the resort, we got to get to know the guys a little more and feel like we have we have made some great friends that make us want to go back to visit year after year. Some of our new friends we made this year are Selena and Yohana at The Market. Every morning we came down to have breakfast they always had a great smile and cheerful attitude, which was the best way to start our day. On the beach, Marti and Juan always made sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. Another two great smiling faces that made our vacation perfect. Even though Carneiro was not working in our area, he remembered us from our previous year’s stay, and came over several times just to say hello and share great information about Nuevo Vallarta. One of our favorite things to do while at the resort is to spend time in the spa and relax. Hard Rock’s spa is one of the best. We wanted to mention specifically Erica, Edelmira, and Veronica for giving us the best massages and facials we have ever had. Everyone at the spa has a great attitude and relaxing energy that makes you want to hang out there all day. We also wanted to show appreciation to Anna for keeping our room fresh and clean every day. Everything at Hard Rock Vallarta was outstanding! The food is outstanding no matter which restaurant you choose. One of our favorites are the cheese empanadas at Frida’s. We really enjoy Fiesta Night with all the entertainment and yummy food. We definitely will be back next year to visit all of our friends!

We recently traveled to Puerto Vallarta and stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta. We were with a group of almost 750 LGBT Women and felt welcomed the entire time. The grounds, the pool, the room and the scenery were absolutely stunning. The staff at the restaurants were very attentive and made sure we never had an empty glass LOL. Our personal favorite was the Marketplace. Norma along with the wait staff gave us so much love and attention that it would definitely be one of our top reasons for us to return and also recommend the hotel. Customer Service is everything. The room attendants leave a surprise Ani-towel in your room each night. If you are looking for a fun activities and exceptional treatment you definitely need to stay at this hotel. They will go above & beyond and do anything to make you feel like a ROCKSTAR and ensure that your experience is the best one ever. Thank You Hard Rock Vallarta. As an added bonus, they are EXTREMELY Handicap accessible. Ramps everywhere, even on the beach.

Atmosphere - This is the one are that this resort (and all Hard Rocks) really shines. The relics of music plastered everywhere make it a very cool resort/rock and roll museum experience. The entire theming and quality of the rooms and building are very good. I also love that the resort is not gargantuan.

Food - This is an area where the resort really fell short. We did not have a single meal that made an impression as really good. All of the food was pretty mediocre and some really bad. This is unfortunate, because it is in an area of Mexico that has some of the best food in the world. We went in to downtown Puerto Vallarta one night for a food tour and were blown away at how good the food was. Nothing was necessarily bad or nasty, it just wasn't very good.

Cleanliness - Another area where the resort fell just short. While overall, it seemed very clean, we ended up having a pretty bad issue with ants in our room. We called twice on two separate days and they came up and sprayed, but they kept coming back. After the second time they came and sprayed and the ants returned, we asked for a different room and were told they would call us back, but we never heard anything.

Hello zschaefer8, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are delighted to see your time with us was enjoyable and to know you received everything here at Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta in the excellent and friendly service of our rockers. However, we see there are a few points that require our attention and we assure you that we are working hard in those areas of opportunity in order to enhance your future visits. Many improvements are being implemented at our facilities and the menu of all our 5 specialty restaurants was updated recently to add multiple combinations of the best of Mexico with the special touch of Hard Rock. We hope in the near future we can share these improvements and many others with you. It’s been a pleasure having you with us and we cannot wait to welcome you back; we will do our best to pamper you and offer the flawless experience you deserve. Warm Regards, “This review was responded to on behalf of the General Manager of Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta”

Yes, I was there last week as a Rock Royalty customer. You have one of the top two floors and a butler service. They give you a pool bag and you have treats in your cabinet. Each afternoon they bring you a special snack. You get the privilege of them reserving your dinner reservations, spa reservations, and a spot at the pool if desired.

We tip at the end of the trip. We've done it a few ways, if all worked equally as hard we give the group a tip. If there are 2 and one caries the load, we've given them individual tips adjusted with how much they helped.

One more thing Purplefan10, when you do decide to relax on the beach make sure you find a waiter by the name of Angel. He will literally bend over backwards to tend to all your beverage and food needs!! Feel free to name drop me, he will be excited. Feel free to ask any other questions or concerns.
