We visited Amohela Ho Spitskop Now for the third time and again we had the most serene and relaxing stay there. The phenomenal Mountain View’s from our great bungalow as well the breathtaking night sky with the gorgeous Milky Way was very Special! The absolute amazing stillness there let you get in touch with yourself immediately and all stress and city noises are gone immediately. The walks around the Spitskop are absolutely stunning. Jennifer and Alan are amazing hosts who welcome you in the most special way. We had everything you need in the bungalow for self catering but in case you‘d like to go for Lunch or Dinner there are a couple of nice places not far. We already looking forward to spent a couple of days in near future there again.
We stayed at Porcupine cabin, absolutely stunning view of the mountain. Very quiet and peaceful. The cabin was nicely equipped, clean and very spacious. The personnel were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely recommend to anyone wanting to get out of the city.
The property is relaxing and allows you to switch off , with little reception and no TV in the unit , you are forced to enjoy the beauty around you . The hosts and staff are beyond friendly and helpful . The views and fresh air make for a tranquil setting , we will definitely be back soon .
My wife and I have stayed twice at Amohela, with 12 years in between. We will definitely be back to this very special place. Well worth a stay for the excellent chalets, beautiful scenery and splendid isolation.
Excellent 2-day stopover between CT and JHB. Will stay longer next time, or even book it as a destination in itself .Just make sure you follow their directions (both Garmin and Google got it hopelessly wrong :) ).
Allen and Jenny have created the most magical 'Retreat' overlooking the Maluti's Mountains. Alternative living, and respect for nature and its inhabitant are high on this owner run farm. Rarely do you find a gem like this, where the only activities are mindful ones. Learning to relax and rest in our break-neck speed lifestyles is essential and one cannot but marvel at this amazing, unique and intelligent hosts. Lockdown has taught us to value our inner beings and if ever one needed to retreat from commercialisation this is it. Pack a few books, take many walks and let nature enthral you. Highly recommended for the discerning guest.
We recently spend a weekend at Quail Cottage. The cottage has everything you could wish for. The decoration was done with care and gives a calm and relaxed atmosphere. The view is spectacular and on a clear day you can see the Lesotho mountains in the distance. Good thing is that there is not cellphone reception at the cottage, and internet only at the main house. The small kitchen is well equiped. There is a microwave, fridge and a gas stove if you really have to cook. Luckily there is also a Weber braai. The fireplace was packed and we enjoyed the fire especially in the cold evenings. The is an easy hiking trail that takes you around Spitskop. You can climb up the koppie and enjoy the fabulous view. Take your camera and binoculars with you. We were the only people there the first week after lockdown and the lovely place was all ours. Will definitely recommend it to couples and families. The Quail cottage is for 2 people.…
After a long, dry winter of hard, red earth and windswept, barren hills, Amohela-Ho-Spitskop was balm for the soul. Surrounded by nothing but the earth, the sky, and the mountains, it's the most perfect escape from...essentially everything outside its glorious bubble. Our cozy Nguni cabin was delightful in every way, the swimming dam is fabulous (and has the most incredible views), the bird song is a beautiful cacophony, Alan and Jennifer are incredibly gracious and knowledgeable hosts, the bird and animal life is extraordinary, and we will absolutely be back.
A beautiful, calm and relaxing interlude for our little family before our big, extended family (often fraught), Farm Christmas. Truly sorry my uncle was so rude to Jenny on the phone. I’m only piecing together what happened now that we’ve eaten the gammons he was so worried about. We especially enjoyed the lookout views and the swimming reservoir. We’d love to visit again, and maybe for longer next time too. Thank you again, Alan and Jenny, also for the work you are doing to care for the earth.
If you are looking for peace and quiet, then this for you. We enjoyed 2 lovely nights in the Francolin Cottage. It has everything you could wish for in a self catering unit and more... It is very spacious and beautifully decorated.
