What an amazing oasis in the middle of nowhere! We had a stunning overnight stay on our way from Jo’berg to Lady Gray for Skyrun. We were greeted on our late arrival with the most friendly and helpful staff ever! They served us delicious homemade lasagne and a huge salad and made a scrumptious breakfast before we set off on our travels the next day. We stayed in the backpackers chalets that were very clean and comfortable and enjoyed the rustic showers and ablutions. Plenty options for accommodation from camping up to family cottages. We were able to enjoy a short hike up to the little waterfall and kloof before breakfast but there is so much more to discover and experience on this property. Definitely a hidden gem that we will back for more of!

it is first time my family done the trail/hiking. Its fun and mountain view is beautiful.
6 km is perfect distance for my family, they do have option for 12k and 20k.
Also, they make extra effort to provide me delicious vegetarian meals. The chalet is very spacy and beds are confortable. the only concern is that the bathtube water is a bit yellowish.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. We have a wonderful stay :)

We hiked as a group of 30 hikers. Some camping, others pre-pitch tents and some rooms. Prices reasonable. Manager and Owners friendly. They really go that extra mile. 17km hike Saturday. 5km hike in kloof Sunday. Rooms need and tidy. Hospitality excellence to perfection. Warm, friendly environment with sauna and dam swimming and bar and restaurant. Team building activities. Huge Lapa, braai kitchen area. Value for money. Well done Johan.

We needed a much-needed four-day break in the gorgeous surrounds of the Eastern Free State and decided to try Imla Guest Farm.
It was simply stunning. There are self-catering and catered options. We got there after a 3 hour drive and didn't feel like cooking that night. Chef Thomas' rump steak with mushroom sauce was superb.
The 150 year old sandstone farm house is snug and beautifully appointed... lovely linen and Nguni cow hides on the floors. The vistas over the valley are gorgeous...fields of sunflowers when we were there.
Our daughter was treated to horse-rides, and the mountain biking and hiking trails on the farm are excellent. As an avid birder, I was delighted to spend evenings down at the nearby dam and saw black storks as well as a lifer for me... the red-headed Quelia!
Pets are welcome which is an added bonus.
The staff are well trained and extremely welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
We have been visiting the area for 15 years now and know it well... this is the best accommodation we have found.

We were a group of 7 who've spent Friday 22Sept2017 at Imla. It was absolutely fantastic! The rooms were luxurious with quality white linen, welcoming refreshments & snacks. The surroundings absolutely stunning! The staff couldn't do enough for us & it was a great stay - one that will most definitely be repeated! They also have a quaint little chapel & we are thinking of celebrating a wedding at the venue!!!!

What an absolute pleasure. A magnificent old stone house, with views over the open fields and a large natural rock formation behind.
This was our last overnight stop on a road trip of over 5000km so we might be excused for being a bit picky but there was absolutely no need. Xander and his lovely wife are exceptional hosts who went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed.
We stayed in the self-catering unit, with a fabulous view of sheep turning various shades of orange and yellow as the sun went down. The unit is very well equipped, clean and very comfortable. We had a quick look at the camping area, and it looks great, well-sheltered under trees against the rocky outcrop.
Breakfast was the traditional fare, fruit, cereal and yogurt followed by bacon, eggs, toast, etc. prepared to order and served in a well appointed dining room with great views again.
A big thank you to Xander and all the Imla staff.
Excellent value for money overall, and we recommend Imla to anyone requiring accommodation in the Clocolan area.
One word of caution, if you don't have an LDV or SUV, the road from Clocolan could use a grader, so just drive slowly.
