Farm 215 is a very special place. The Fynbos suites looks like a luxury hotel suite, but is eco-run, and situated in the beautiful fynbos botanical plains with breathtaking views. The self catering facilities are perfect, and its cosy and quiet.

This is a remote spot, with nothing around for less than a 20 min drive (even a grocery store - nothing is walkable) so dont come here if you want convenience and amenities. But DO come here for tranquility, peace, harmony with nature, and relaxation. Maarten was always within reach if we needed anything - but left us to enjoy the complete privacy and quiet.

We needed rooms for my 2 x sons and myself for an open water swim the following day. The staff were wonderfully friendly and accommodating even though we arrived late into the night. The last km of roads were rough but accepted and possibly expected as part of staying in a remote location. We stayed in the main building and the rooms were large with magnificent open views of the Lomond Dam and hills. Very quiet ( except for frogs 🐸) and very dark so you can see a million stars. A gem of a place and we would definitely stay there again.

We enjoyed a great month on a wilderness retreat in the fynbos - a wonderful view, expansive, mountains and sea, and birdlife and tortoises and lizards regular visitors. Some fine walking on the land, and we enjoyed excusrions in the surrounds as well. The hosts were very attentive, all needs met as soon as they were expressed. Others obviously came and went from the neighbouring properties but we always felt private. You can look back at the place from a nieghbouring winery and visit Africa's southernmost rainforest nearby. A very bumpy road to get in, so we were glad of having high clearance in our car. A great stay.

We stayed in one of the Fynbos suites at Farm 215 for the weekend. The view is stunning and the suite is stylish and comfortable. We were disappointed with the breakfast and consumables in general. For the price that one pays to stay there, it felt like the breakfast was rationed (small portions) and the food pre-prepared. There is also no fridge in the room to keep fresh milk for tea and coffee. While the location is lovely, a few small touches and a bit more generosity could have made our stay really wonderful.

Our stay at Farm215 was absolutely perfect. Everything was actually even nicer than the photos on the website. The view is just amazing! The kitchen has everything you need. The bed is huge and super comfortable. You don’t have to leave the property for amazing hikes through the nature reserve. The supermarket and fishstore in Gansbaai is a beautiful 25 minute drive. From the balcony you have a panoramic view of fynbos, winefields, mountains and the ocean. The neighbours (8 minute drive) are actually a great wine domaine (Lomond wine estate) with an excellent selection of wines. Every evening we enjoyed a glass sitting on the huge balcony and watching the sunsets. Oh, and the host, a dutch guy called Martin, (who is assisted by a wonderful team including the lovely Naomi and Jacob,) is a very cool dude that makes sure that your stay is perfect. He actually made sure our rentalcar started after we had forgotten to turn the lights off the day before. We will definitely return.

What a delightful stay in one of the Fynbos Villas in Farm 215. We had panoramic views from every part of the villa with large sliding doors opening up to nature. It was peaceful and quiet and we some horses come visit one early morning. What a delight seeing them standing in the fynbos in the mist.
We did not use the hot tub as it was a busy weekend with family and friends.
If I can point out two things for future guests. Remember to bring your own hairdryer. The owner was most accommodating and did find one for me to use, which was most appreciated. And if you don't like drinking water that are slightly discoloured from tannin, I would suggest you bring some bottles water as it is not provided the villas.
All in all we had a lovely stay and will definitely return again.

The mountain suite on the property of Farm 215 was one of the older accommodations on the property. A secluded farmhouse on the mountain with nice views and quite some space. The interior was a bit out dated and stains on chairs and here and there the paint on walls and floors was damaged. Furniture was also a bit outdated and the cottage could use an upgrade in paint and furniture. A mouse ran through the bedroom a few times. The swimming pool outside looked nice but there was no working pump, during our stay we saw nobody on the premises….

Response from , General Manager at Farm 215
Responded 25 Mar 2023
No, the pool does not have a pump. It does not need a pump. It is a natural pool. Clean and fresh mountain water runs into the pool via gravity and runs out at the bottom of the pool to the dam below the accommodation, also via gravity. This is a private nature reserve. If you leave the door open, wildlife might come in and will linger till you open a door again so that it can go out again. It was probably a striped mouse, a pretty little animal. Luckily it was not a baboon. The reserve is 800 hectares, it that is what you mean with "premises" . The accommodation is spaced far apart and the closest place where staff lives is 500 meters away from your unit. "Not seeing anyone" comes with the Sense of Space, which is one of the main reasons people stay at Farm 215, but we do realise that that is not to everybody's liking. Every guest has a dedicated telephone number where we can be reached day and night. Sorry this was not the place for you.

I've been wanting to propose to my girlfriend since the start of lockdown.
With that been said I was positive that the first 'road trip' would be the perfect opportunity.

My partner is American/Canadian and is head over heels in love with the biodiversity of The Cape.
We wanted something secluded, comfortable and eco-friendly. After a few searches online, we both agreed that Farm 215 was the spot to travel too and made a booking for early September, for 2 nights.

We were welcomed by all the right awareness and protocols in place and felt very grateful for such a beautiful surrounding. The fynbos, the proteas, the horses riding, the well-designed suites and even a view of the sea between the mountains in the distance. A fireplace, candles, and lovely Bath.

Bruce the Chef (and do it all Guy) prepared some of the most amazing dinners I've had out of town.
From creating the menu based on our meal preferences to sourcing great local ingredients that he magically prepared. Seriously Thank you for all your Help Bruce! We are looking forward to our next visit as Husband and Wife...

She said YES!

We had a amazing time at the mountain suite, having stayed at the fynbos units before this unit in comparison offers more space but with a more rustic farmhouse interior set in a modernist structure on the hill. We hardly saw anybody except on the occasional walk some of the other guest. Its a very peaceful place with a lot of beautiful fynbos. We where lucky enough to spot some antelope and birdlife is in abundance. The space has a great private outdoor area and a wood fired hot tub that looks over the kloof,
the natural pool that is fed by mountain water is a must try, you skin feels amazing afterwards!

I spent 2 nights at Farm215 - the location is a mere 2 hours from Cape Town. Once you enter the farm, the serenity and vastness of wide open (and safe) spaces overwhelms. The rooms and suites are beautifully thought through and are first class. There are hiking trails but my personal favourite was the 25m natural mountain water pool with a view across the entire farm. Just wow!! The local chef, Bruce, stunned us with wholesome home cooking of exceptional standard. This is definitely one of my new favourite spots to travel to
