We stopped in Victoria West on our way back to Gauteng from the Western Cape. What a gem of a place.
We were contacted in the morning for an expected arrival time, we were met with such a warm Karoo greeting and immediately felt at home. We washed off the travels and the heat in the tiny but refreshing pool and sat poolside and chatted and enjoyed a Karoo evening.
Owing to Covid restrictions they did not provide meals but the kitchen is well equipped and we were able to make our own dinner. There were other restaurants in town which provided meals or takeaways.
Pet friendly with a number of dogs having fun and games on the lawn.
The units were well appointed and air conditioned and we had an excellent nights’ sleep.
Highly recommended if you are looking for a stop over. The N12 is also considerably quieter than the N1 so the drive was also more pleasant

We were a group of friends traveling together, and had to stay over in Victoria West. The Victoria West guesthouse had enough accommodation for all of us, so we booked well in advance. The staff was very friendly and patient during the process of booking and making sure that everybody was placed in rooms/units which suit them best. We were received warmly and was surprised by the most beautiful little units. It was in the middle of winter, and we were treated to a lovely home-cooked meal and warm atmosphere. Nobody could complain about their rooms - beds were comfortable and we had enough warm water for showers for everyone. Breakfast was also a nice experience. The owner, Wilma, and her staff made sure that we all had enough to eat before departing. We'll recommend the guesthouse to anyone who happen to need a place to stay in that region. Very good value for money as well!!

This is a wonderful find in the Karoo. Very friendly owners (worldly, well-travelled, film- industry background types) Werner and Elsabe go the extra mile to make a stay very comfortable indeed: beautifully clean, sumptuous beds, lovely 2024 Karoo-style and surprising privacy. You won't want for more.

We found the place on Tripadvisor and phoned the owner at about 1pm to ask if we could stay overnight and were very welcomed. The house with wooden floors had everything one needs for a one nights stay and even for a longer to experience the surrounding area. We had 4 beds, a fully equipped kitchen, a braai area on a small veranda, a big living area.

We always have such a pleasant sleepover in Victoria West. The Victoria West Guesthouse is definitely one of our favourite stop over on our way to Mosselbay. Mietjie is the friendliest person ever. There is absolutely nothing to fault the guesthouse on. Everything is spot on. Well done on a well kept establishment that always make you feel at home!

A well placed town to overnight, stayed here many times. You can walk the town and see the great old buildings, specially the Theatre one of the oldest one in South Africa .The guest rooms are great and well equipped, breakfast was mouth watering. Wilna is an excellent host and will arrange dinner upon request, real Karoo cooking.
Go and enjoy the Karoo it is great!!!

Reception was very welcoming and efficient. We were given an enormous family unit (2 rooms) with bathroom and small kitchenette. Kitchen was suitable for our overnight stay but would be challenging for a long self-catering stay. Everything was spotless and comfortable. We were not troubled with any noise either from traffic or other residents. All the accommodation appeared to have been upgraded and was in good repair without having lost its small country town feeling.
The restaurant recommended for dinner was very good and cheap (all in a country town fashion). We did not have breakfast at the hotel.
Reception gave us some ideas on places to visit in the town which proved to be very interesting.
All told, a most satisfying stay and too short. Would certainly visit again.

After a very nice experience in the past, it was not difficult to choose accommodation for our group to stay on our recent journey via Victoria-West. We can be nothing but very pleased by the way the staff (Mietjie, Nadine and Wilma) welcomed us and made sure that each of our group of 20+ are settled and satisfied with our rooms. Before going to bed in our lovely, clean and tidy rooms, we had a lovely home-cooked dinner prepared by the staff. Overall a good experience, comfortable beds, good quality linen, warm showers and friendly staff - highly recommended!

Is the en suite bathroom behind a closed door or merely behind a screen?
