We spent 4 blissful days at this wonderful historic guesthouse only 40 km from Victoria West. The last time we visited was 12 years ago and unlike so many establishments which tend to change their winning recipes and try to cut corners to save on costs, the experience was just the same. We spent the very hot days in the garden which is immaculately maintained. Cooled off in the very chilly pool, walked up the kopjies and saw lots of game. The staff are very hands on but not intrusive. Loved the home cooked meals by Barbie and team and the evening chats at the bar with Kevin. The rooms are very old school comfortable and spotlessly clean. We had a room with a door to the garden as we had our little dog with us. Ronel certainly knows her guests and we loved that she brought our favourite tipple to us in the garden spot on at noon. Many thanks to the family for another wonderful time of peace and relaxation. We will certainly not wait another 12 years before visiting again.…
If you want to relax in an oasis right in the heart of the Karoo, then this is the place to be! The old guesthouse is kept in an excellent condition and its historic feel and character very well preserved. Hospitality, service and the farm fresh food are outstanding, and have a true Karoo character. We will definitely be back to explore the surroundings further.
Conveniently located near Victoria West and 40km from Loxton, Melton Wold offers both creature comforts of a lovely bed and hot water showers as well as the options of delicious, wholesome meals. Enjoy the farm or explore the surrounding towns. Swim in the pool, read, play table tennis, take a walk or a drive. The tran quility lends itself to peace of mind and just being if that is what you are looking for. Enjoy the colours of the Karoo sky at dusk. Absolutely incredible hospitality and friendly service. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
An historic oasis! Such a lovely surprise find! Thank you Ronel and family for your hospitality and service. We will definitely be back to visit and spend more time exploring the area and history of the property.
The camping here was a great experience, lots of nature and wildlife around. The hosts were very friendly, we did take the opportunity to eat breakfast and dinner in the main house which was very nice. A nice balance of being in nature but having amenities available if required.
