I arrived early, tried to checkin early and stood in an enormous line that wasn't moving at all. My room wasn't ready, OK, I can live with that. Eventually I was told 15:00. Stood in line forever again. No, no room til 15:40. Back in line again for 30 minutes. Crazy slow.

We had the most amazing 3 day stay at the JW Marriot in Nov 2021. We were there with 2 other couples and had all just stayed 4 days in Cabo San Lucas immediately prior to this, so this was the 2nd leg of our trip to Cabo. First off, San Juan del Cabo is a MUST visit I think. 4 days in Cabo San Lucas and 3 days in San Juan del Cabo is the perfect way to spend a vacation week. There are some great restaurants not to be missed (Flora Farms and Acres) which are a quick cab ride away from the JW. The resort itself was perfection - it was beautiful and calm, it felt so comfortable and not at all cold/pretentious like some do. After reading many bad reviews, I honestly cannot believe anyone wouldn't enjoy themselves here and I have travelled a ton as well. It was the perfect vibe and energy here. There was tons of pools with sun chairs everywhere so it was never a problem finding a perfect place to lounge, and in fact we found it quite fun trying a new spot each day. The rooms were lovely - we upgraded to Oceanfront which was honestly SO worth it, though it did look like the Oceanview rooms had a pretty nice half view of the ocean too. Don't think you can go wrong, it was a very well laid out resort in that respect. The beach at sunset was one of most magical walks I've ever done, with huge waves crashing (cant swim but no matter) and the sun setting. It was always secluded and was beautiful in it's unrefined state. We found services to be very fast and friendly, we ordered food and drinks to wherever we were posted up for the day and never had an issue once. Breakfast each day was delicious and I loved that they had both a full buffet and an a la carte menu for days we weren't as hungry. It was November, so I don't think it was at full capacity, which was amazing. The food and drink prices were NOT excessive like so many other resorts so we felt like we could just treat ourselves and get whatever we wanted. I wouldn't have changed a thing, it was the perfect way to experience San Juan de Cabo. I would 100% return here, and recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, easy going vacation.

Room Tip: Upgrade to oceanfront - worth it! But all the rooms seemed like they would have some ocean view.

I rarely leave reviews, but felt compelled to come and leave my 5 star review of my time at the JW! It was well earned. To be honest, we debated staying at another hotel (the Viceroy) after reading a few negative reviews about the JW, but my entire group was SO pleased with our decision. I can wholeheartedly say that we had an incredible experience from start to finish - which is why I’m writing this review. Highlights: - the energy of the the resort is calm, relaxing and rejuvenating. - the resort grounds are perfectly kept (loved sitting by the fire pits in the “secret spot) - service is AMAZING. Every single staff member is attentive, polite and hard working - the beach is tranquil and gorgeous (highly recommend going for a long sunset walk on the beach and watching the waves crash) - very generous portions at lunch, delicious and great value - so many different pool options and we never had to fight for a chair Thank you for an amazing stay JW team. Definitely consider staying here!!

I was genuinely concerned about having chosen to stay at this resort after having read some of the negative comments. Just goes to show that some people are never happy. I can't say enough positive things about our experience at this resort. The staff was personable, accommodating and helpful. Our room was beautiful and housekeeping was terrific. The grounds were well maintained. Covid precautions were taken seriously by all staff. The location was great. Very close to San Jose del Cabo which has an incredible restaurant scene and wonderful art galleries. Restaurants of special note: Acre, Flora Farms, Don Sanchez. Took a drive to the Manta for drinks on their rooftop bar to watch sunset over the Arch. Get a reservation for all of these. Only unwelcome surprise on the trip was a mandatory Mexican government imposedliability insurance charge of $55 per day on rental car. Overall this was an incredible vacation which I highly recommend.
