We started in JoBurg for our family South Africa trip, and Gardenia Boutique Hotel was an amazing way to begin out adventure. We arrived very early in the morning and they allowed us early access to our room for a quick shower and relax before we started the day. The place smells AMAZING, the hotels name doesn't come from nothing. The room was great and large enough for the three of us. The staff is what stood out the most. Everyone was extremely helpful, and kind. I can not stress enough how much the staff positively impacted our stay. Highly recommend for amenities, food, location, and service!

Went for a solo vacation around Jozi to take a break from life and I found this germ in Craighall/Hydepark. The hotel is beautiful and peaceful and rooms nice and big. Only complaint is no phone in rooms and no "do no disturb" sign which was an issue when I wanted ice or ordered Uber eats and didnt want to be disturbed by room cleaners. So my naps where interrupted.

Lovely , relaxing hotel for people on business trips or as base home when visiting Johannesburg. The place is safe with a lovely pool area and an amazing continental breakfast. The rooms are spacious and well kept. The staff are kind and always ready to help make your stay more comfortable. The only thing that disturbed us was the amount of water wasted in filling the pool daily. Apart from that everything thing else was wonderful. Would definitely recommend the hotel and would stay there again.

No soap, no shampoo. At least there was one towel. Same in the other room we booked. Has the feel of a nice hotel that's going backward through a lack of owner oversight. Nice grounds though, decent coffee, good shared facilities. Just needs some oversight on the basics. Fix those blinds, don't just keep tying knots in the broken cord!

Stayed overnight in this hotel in January 2022. Tyrone, the manager, was on the surface pleasant but clearly didn’t check the rooms for maintenance etc. in our room the curtain rail was broken, the blinds were held up by sticking them through the window bars & a bath towel had a hole the size of a tennis ball in it. When I reported it to Tyrone on check out, his response was that he’d talk to the cleaning staff??

Terrible service, horrible conditions, place is falling to piece, curtains falling down when closing the doors, no coffee in the rooms, dirty dustbin from previous guest….. the list is endless. This place should be removed from any listings and refunds should be made. We left after 1 night and nobody even noticed??

I came here for a business trip and I have to say that it was below my expectations. From the photos taken from the management, everything looks clean and beautiful, however, when I arrived, the rooms were dirty, especially the floor, curtains, bathtubs and shower. The bed was uncomfortable and once I opened the blankets, I found particles of dirt. I was shocked at the condition of the room. Not that all was bad, the room is of good size and the staff were friendly, however, I expected more from this stay. At night, I could constantly hear noise which disrupted my sleep and also, my sink was clogged and the aircon stopped working on day 2 of my stay. I'm not 100% that I could recommend this place, but possibly, my room was the only one with the above conditions.

However, it does have the potential to be a really beautiful place. I found other spaces quite nice and I'll include both the food and the bad photos.

Disappointing & will definitely not be back. Does not deserve the 4 star tourism award. Walls, curtains, shower are dirty. No teaspoons in room to make coffee. Middle of winter in Jhb & no electric blanket or additional blankets, only a duvet. Minimal toiletries. 1 out of 3 TV’s in the suite worked. Breakfast was a shambles, insufficient staff. Broken cupboard on full display. Warm milk served with tea. Bedside lamps don’t work as plug can’t accommodate a 2 prong. Just disappointing all around. Suite needs to be upgraded, perhaps the standard rooms are better but I won’t be back to find out.

I booked this hotel for 3 nights for a business trip and was just looking for a place to relax and this hotel did exactly that. The room was extremely spacious and the hotel was super clean. The manager was so friendly and she always had a smile on her face. Definitely a favourite for business travels.

This is nice, private hotel for mature citizens, travelers and business people. Rooms are spacious, clean and all facing the private garden and the swimming pool. There is a private parking and honesty bar. The only bad think about this hotel was the mediocre and pretty basic breakfast.
