I'll start with the great: Our room was the "Loft Suite" and it was perfect for me, my husband and our daughter. It was ocean front, and the upstairs had two beds and it's own bathroom so if you're traveling with kids who can paddle board and snorkel it's perfect. It's also walking distance to town, which was very nice. Now for the things that made it average: The food is not near as good as the other Palace's. The one exception was the cook at the breakfast buffet who made the omelets and eggs...it's a wait but well worth it. The food and beverage staff is good, and Charlie at activities kept it fun, but everything that had to be done through the lobby staff was a production, which is VERY unlike the impeccable Palace service we're used to. Maybe they're understaffed because of COVID, maybe they're sick of working in the travel industry, but we have decided this was our last Palace vacation. One funny thing...mid trip they sent us a survey and we answered it with "average". Immediately the phone rang and Dora from Guest Services asked my husband "why"? When he tried to explain she ARGUED with him. We laughed it off but obviously she didn't care about the answer.

Traveling from New York is a two flight trip, so it has to be worth it, and Cozumel Palace is! The hotel is beautiful and kept extremely clean. We were very comfortable and every room has a view! First, there is the staff: Dora, who scheduled our Covid test for us and then arranged for a romantic dinner when she heard we were celebrating an anniversary. After our romantic dinner, there was a lovely surprise waiting for us in our room. When, unfortunately, we had to take a trip to the hospital, she came with us to lend support. Pedro, the head of Security, also came and then picked us up. Such beautiful people. Then there is Joel, the Sommelier. He is someone who truly loves his job and loves sharing his incredible knowledge of wine. He is also one of the sweetest people we ever met! So glad we made this new friend. Then there are the restaurants! We started with Agura, which is Indian cuisine. Fabulous! You must try it! The chef, Honorio, clearly put his heart and soul into these dishes. The manager, Selene, was also very proud of what they created. We had similar experiences with the Japanese and Italian restaurants! The wait staff was super friendly. Special shout out to Evert, Kika, Ruisel , Eric, Ivanovich, Jonathan, and the hostess, Martha!!! Go for the Cozimil dinner and wine tasting events , totally worth it! All of this with that beautiful ocean right there. Can’t forget that ocean!! My husband and I will definitely be back!!

We travelled mid-January and purchased on Expedia , even though we are Palace Elite members. The price was cheaper on Expedia so our membership was useless. There is a beautiful reef in the ocean off this property, so it’s really nice for snorkelling. Cozumel is a great island - which is why we keep going back - and this resort has a great location. The first room they gave us was next door to the covid testing room. There was a steady stream of people and noise and constant lineups of people lingering outside our room so we asked to be moved. I actually couldn’t believe they would book people in this wing. It was really REALLY noisy and disruptive. We were moved to a first floor room with no balcony or view - downgraded it seemed - so again asked to be moved to a balcony room. They refused unless we paid another 500$ US. So we did as our holiday was for 10 days and we value being able to use the patio/balcony. Food is mediocre. The dinner foods in the Italian, Mexican, and buffet were over cooked. The buffet was cold . The room service food is different from the restaurant food and hit and miss. The best food is breakfast and poolside. The poolside pizza is really nice but don’t try and order pizza from room service - because it’s a floppy terrible mess. We have been to this resort 3 times in the past. We have come to expect a certain standard when it comes to the Palace resorts. We found this time that some staff are less than accommodating , sometimes downright rude. The wait staff, on the other hand, are amazing. My husband contracted Covid while at Palace Cozumel. We had received an email on December 28 that this resort would provide up to 14 days isolation at no charge should someone in our party contract Covid. When we asked for them to honour that commitment , they refused , claiming their policy had changed to 5 days. As Canadians, we must remain outside of Canada for 11 days if we contract Covid abroad. We kept this booking and travelled based on this promise. Customer service at the resort refused to honour the email. My husband went to one of their “isolation rooms” so I would be able to leave the room for the rest of my holiday. In that room, he was facing a noisy busy street, given lower quality room service food, and not provided a mini bar. I was told that unless he went to the quarantine room, neither of us would be permitted to use any of the resort /leave our room for the duration of our booking. After he moved to the isolation room, I never had another visit from housekeeping . We have been Palace Elite members for about 7 or 8 years. We have spent our last dollar on their properties.

We stayed in an ocean-front room for 4 nights. We enjoyed the resort overall - the food options were very good. We especially liked the Mexican, Italian and the Indian restaurants. The drinks were also good. The nightly entertainment was good - we enjoyed the Michael Jackson tribute. There were only a few kids but the overall vibe is suited for a family vacation. We also visited the Palace hotel in Playa del Carmen via the ferry and had our 90 minutes sales presentation there. The salespeople were aggressive but respectful when we kept declining all their offers. The Palace resort in Playa del Carmen had a non-stop party vibe with loud music near the pool. One of the things we loved about the resort in Cozumel was that it was within walking distance to the town (15-20 minutes). We walked there every day and went to the shops and parks. There was snorkeling right at the Palace but we couldn't do that because of the rough seas for a couple of days. We went on a 3.5 hour island tour instead for 1500 pesos reimbursed by the 90-minute presentation. We went to the tequila museum as part of this tour - the tequila there is too expensive but the information and tasting is good. We ended up buying our tequila across the street from the resort at the Chedraui supermarket! One thing to note is that ATM machine at the resort gives pesos at a significantly bad rate from your US bank debit card. You may be better off using the ATMs at a bank location or at the Chedraui.

This was my first stay at a palace resort and on the island of Cozumel. The Cozumel Palace is a very nice resort with a few caveats and inconsistencies . Although a few staff were not particularly engaging or friendly, the majority of them were friendly and very willing to go above and beyond . Special mention to Josie who provided good service. Charlie the entertainment lead was the best too! Our room was on the third floor. at the western end of the building. It was located near a mechanical room which was quite noisy. Although it didn't disturb our sleep it could be an issue for some, so try to reserve a room near the eastern end of the building. Not only will it be quieter but save you some steps to the elevator(There is only one for the entire property, other than a service elevator which we used about 1/2 the time) which proved to be a long hike. The room was well laid out and i would rate it 5 stars. King size bed, jacuzzi tub, bar and fridge fully stocked. a small living room area with loveseat, chairs and table, perfect for room service that was available at no extra charge! A veranda with chairs, table and Hammock, The view was amazing! The room was kept very clean and well stocked. No security issues either. Food. There are 3 themed restaurant's for dinner each night as well as a buffet Oriental/Indian, Italian and Mexican. The Oriental themed restaurant, provided the best dinign experience followed by the Mexican themed restaurant. The Italian restaurant tried really hard but was a bit of a disappointment to me. ( I have been blessed to eat in Italy and have access in my community to many very good Italian restaurant's ) The Dinner Buffet provided a good variety of food choices and food was generally fresh. I would recommend getting there early as the food is sometimes picked over and cold as the night goes on. By far the best food was at breakfast! the Buffet was full of fresh fruit, breads and yogurts. The French toast was to die for. The lady preparing the custom egg dishes was amazing! Huevos Motuleños were out of the park! Pool and Amenities The pool area is split into 3 main areas. the far eastern would be the most tranquil and best bet to relax, the centre pool is the activity area and is closer to the bar in fact it has a swim up bar. and then there is a smaller pool area generally for kids. The hotel is located on a coral reef so there isn't really a beach per say although the hotel has two sandy areas with chairs and grass roof shelters. The only complaint with regard to the pool set up is that young children could be heard screaming in the pool area. This was more of a problem with bad parenting then with the resort. Its a delicate issue for sure for the staff to handle but i would have appreciated staff to intervene and issue a caution to the parents. Also the hotel did not enforce a pool closure time and children were observed in the pool in the evening. Bar and Entertainment The main lobby bar is well stocked with top shelf product that staff will generously give to thirsty patrons. I was very pleased to enjoy Grand Marnier for a night cap. The entertainment was reasonably good each night with good variety The highlight of the stay was the Michael Jackson show!! The pool bar provided good service but could have benefited from offering a menu of specialty tropical drinks that would help guests to pick a good local drink. This resort overall provided a good to very good first experience. There are a few areas that could use improvement and the resort is starting to wear a bit in places( chair pads and some trim and flooring in the common areas)
