Paradisus Cancun

This resort was spectacular. Our room was the Reserve Ocean View suite. Upon arrival we were directed to the Reserve area, which was in building 5. The Reserve check in was absolutely stunning. The relaxing music, the subtle smells of vanilla and lavender, the pools of running water, the hanging vines, the lanterns, all just a sensory delight.

Check in took just a few minutes and we were escorted to our room by our concierge Jose. Jose made our dinner reservations for the week and said if we needed anything to let him know. Our room was just mere feet from the all day charcuterie board and bar. Julio made the perfect drinks. In the morning, there was a variety of fruits and breakfast snacks along with a coffee bar, juices and morning beverages, yes you could get a Mimosa or Bloody Mary. In the afternoon, this area has drinks alcoholic and non-alcoholic as well as meats, cheeses, warm snacks and desserts.

Room
Our room was perfect for us. Upon entering, the bathroom was on the left. The bathroom had a single sink with hand soap and lotion, as well as a few other boxed amenities, which we never opened. To the left of the sink was the water closet, to the right of the sink was what can only be described as a shower room. The shower room included the large soaking tub and the rainfall shower. The shower had excellent water pressure, one of the best showers we have experienced at any resort. The shower room was all glass, separated by a somewhat sheer curtain, perfect for the ocean views and sunlight, but not perfect for privacy. The shower included Biology shampoo, condition and shower gel. To the right across from the bathroom was the closet that included a safe, ironing board and umbrella. The closet had a light that doubled as a night light to the bathroom when the room was dark.

The room had a king sized bed that was a bit hard on my back, but a mattress topper was added, and it was very helpful. The room had a sitting area near the balcony as well as a table with 2 chairs. It was sparsely decorated, but comfortable. The morning sunrise with ocean views was incredible beyond words.

Restaurants
When staying in the Reserve area you have access to Sante. This is where we ate upon arrival. Sante turned out to be our favorite place for breakfast and lunch. The food was fantastic and had the perfect ocean views. The staff at Sante was very attentive and made sure we didn’t need a thing. Sante is located right by the adult-only reserve pool.

The restaurants we’re beautiful. They all had a different decor that was reflective of the menu and style of cuisine. There were many options that could accommodate a variety of tastes. That said, while the service and menu options were always excellent, the execution of the meal itself was somewhat anticlimactic given the beauty and attention that surrounded you. The food wasn’t bad, but it just seemed to be less elevated than all the other sensory queues.

When staying in the Reserve area, you had a one time access to Sal’s Steak house (this restaurant is an extra charge if not staying in the reserve). Like Sante, Sal’s was excellent, the quality and creativity of the food were elevated compared to the other restaurants. We also had the opportunity to dine at Ceilo, Aqua Marina, Lemon Fish and Cappella. There were 2 mornings we opted for Malva, the breakfast buffet. However, once we discovered Sante had breakfast, we never went back to the buffet. Sante was just superior.

One “must”, is the Kanna Beach Club (food at this location is an extra charge). Upon entering there is a small bar with swings and multiple seating areas. We discovered this small, out of the way spot while exploring the resort after dinner on a warm evening. The location is nestled into the side of the hotel facing the shore with about a 10 to 15 foot drop to the sand. It’s almost like a deck built on the side of a cliff overlooking the ocean. The surroundings are very casual, we sat on a couch near a coffee table facing the ocean. That in itself was great, but the way the location as designed meant that there was very little light from the adjacent facilities, meaning the view of the stars was absolutely breathtaking. They seemed so close, and we just sat listening to the waves and marveling at the heavens. Words fail to describe the experience.

Off Resort Dinner
One of the great things about Mexico, and Cancun in particular, are all the off-resort options for excursions, dining and shopping. We always felt completely secure and didn’t feel the need to take any extra precautions beyond what we would normally do with a trip downtown in our home town. During this vacation we decided to explore dining options outside of the hotel. Our concierge helped us decide which options fit our taste and even made reservations for us at two nearby eateries, The Crab House and RosaNegra. Both of these were only a short walk from the resort so we didn’t need transportation.

The Crab House was very good, specializing in seafood fare that went well beyond what you might normally expect in the US. It’s a bit pricey, but worth the extra money to dine on high quality ingredients while watching the sunset over the lagoon.

Our second dining experience was really one of exploration and surprise. We arrived at RosaNegra and were escorted through a very busy restaurant by an army of young, chic attendants. Sitting at our table, we found it difficult to talk due to the surrounding noise. Some may like that kind of bustling environment, but we prefer something a little more subdued and less busy. For us, this just wasn’t the place, so we politely told our waiter that we were going to go find something a little less energetic. The next thing we knew, the manager arrived at our table, explaining that there were other dining options that would be a better fit just a short walk from where we were. She offered to take us. We were off! Instead of walking us back out of the restaurant, she escorted us to a boardwalk on the bay that led to an Italian restaurant called Parole. Apparently there are five different venues all connected and owned by the same company. Shocked at the beautifully lit paradise in the distance, we were completely intrigued by what lay ahead. We were warmly greeted and found a great table overlooking the lagoon. The menu was huge and included some really creative Italian favorites as well as some really nice wine options. I could go on about this experience but it was just what we were looking for. In short, the Wagu meatball is huge and excellent as were all the courses we enjoyed. Additionally, Parole had some fantastic entertainment that included an electric violinist and a painter. Yes, a painter (I won’t spoil the surprise.) I would highly recommend either of these as a great addition to the on-resort amenities.

Evening Entertainment
To be honest after dinner most evenings, we loved looking at the stars from the seating area at the Kanna Beach club. We did spend one evening at the Ginger bar. It had a band that played 80s music and were very good. However after long days in the sun, we were tired and ready to sleep by 2300.

Spa
One afternoon we spent at the spa. Left our phones in the room safe, (Believe it or not, lol). Upon arrival to the spa my husband and I were each escorted to the male/female dressing areas. Once undressed, we were given a robe and taken to the hydrotherapy area. Each dressing area had access to a steam room and dry sauna. After about 10 minutes, we were brought to a cool water shower area with a variety of water jets. We were lead to the hydrotherapy pool. It’s a cool water pool with various jets and sprays to relax your muscles. It was wonderful. Once you completed your time in the pool, you were offered water or green tea and had a few minutes to lounge on a couch before moving to the massage area. On our way to the massage area, we were escorted back through the dressing room and out into a public hallway area in our robes. This was a bit unnerving and did take away from the newly induced relaxation.

The massage, for me, was a bit disappointing. The face pillows were very firm and I ended up with a headache by the time the massage completed. I was also disappointed because the therapist asked what area to focus on, which for me was neck, scalp and shoulders. Unfortunately, the therapist failed to really attend to those spots, spending most of the time on my legs and back. My husband also felt the face pillow was firm, but he managed to find a comfortable spot. His massage was focused on the lower back, and seemed better than mine. Overall it was a disappointing experience for me. Marching through a common hallway, pressed into a concrete face pillow and misaligned massage left it difficult to find a benefit from the therapy.

Pool
The adult reserve pool was nothing short of perfect. It was heated and always seemed just the right temperature. Surrounding the pool were Bali beds, complete with additional loungers for those times you wanted extra sun. Reserve guests are guaranteed a Bali bed for 2 days of your stay. Additional Bali bed access is granted via requesting placement on a waiting list. You may or may not get one depending on availability. We were lucky enough to have one every day of our stay. Go to the towel hut to coordinate Bali bed access. Jennifer and Nicole managed that amenity and were excellent, handling our requests and setting up our pool side oasis.

Food and drink service is also available right from the bed. Valeria and Oscar were our pool-side concierges and they brought us drinks and food throughout out the day. They made sure we had an ice bucket filled with bottled water and seemed to effortlessly insure that anything you might need was already at your disposal. The food came from Sante so it was always excellent. One day we asked for a Bali bed over looking the ocean, this was not ideal as it was windy and a bit cold. The next day we chose to go back to our pool view Bali bed. The pool was perfect for floating on a raft and getting some sun.

Special thanks to Nicole, Jennifer, Valeria and Oscar, they made sure we were comfortable, well fed and well hydrated!

Beach
Standing in surf up to my waist, i could see my feet resting on the white sand. The water was clear and magnificent. The waves were active and a bit rough for some, but I found it wonderful - an almost spiritual experience of the power, majesty and beauty of nature. The sand between the resort and edge of the water was not very long and the drop off to the ocean was steep. The sand was clean and soft, except for the occasional tuft of seaweed.

Our daily routine included getting up and going to the coffee bar just outside of our room. We would have our coffee and watch the sunrise from our balcony. Then we would get dressed in our swim suits/coverup and go the Sante for a leisurely breakfast. After that we would make our way to the towel hut to talk with Jennifer or Nicole and find our Bali bed. We would alternate laying on a lounge chair for sun, swimming and then laying in our hut reading or napping. We also took random walks to the beach through out the day. Oscar and Valeria also made sure we didn’t skip any meals. We would return to our room in the afternoon, stopping at the Reserve charcuterie and bar before getting ready for dinner. After dinner we typically found our way out to Kanna beach club for drinks and stargazing.

Overall this was resort speculator, from the sunrise views from our room, the food at Sante and the very attentive staff/concierge at the pool. Reserve is a must!

We highly recommended staying at the paridisus cancun. It was clean, had plentiful food choices with beautiful beach and pool areas. Concierge suite ocean view with Gloria and Rodolfo as our butlers made are week outstanding. Rooms were large (master plus a living room with pull out and roll away) Location across the street from aqua world was great for our activities. (Jet ski, flyboard, flow rider and zip line tour plus cenote and 4 wheeler ATV) There were plenty of pool and kids club activities at the hotel as well. The only negative is the buffet for breakfast. There is no full service breakfast option for families. You can do adults only full service breakfast or room service however. The buffet has great food and service but we hate buffets in general. It was awesome to have Gloria and Rodolfo arrange our full service dinners and the various restaurants on site, much more relaxing. The coffee is delicious here fyi. Gloria and Rodolfo were available for any requests through out the trip. We will be back

The hotel itself is a little bit dated and the rooms could use an upgrade, however whatever the inside lacks the staff make up ten fold with their attention to detail and can do attitude. The outside of the hotel is five star, very clean beach, lots of cabanas, several swimming pools, tennis court and small golf course. There are many water sports activities available. They are cleaning non stop, lots of sanitizer available and everyone is wearing masks inside the hotel.

We were not impressed with our first room but this was quickly rectified and we were upgraded to their reserve status, which came with a private restaurant, pool, and butler. They have a family reserve building and an adults only building. I saw some of the rooms on the adults only side and they look much more updated and "luxury".The family and adults only buildings are on opposite sides of the resort. Kids are not allowed in the Reserve restaurant. The food was great everywhere but kicked up a notch at the Reserve.

Our butler Rodolfo made our stay so enjoyable, he made all of our reservations and was always a text away. Marina and Margarita were also constant rays of sunshine. My son has severe anxiety and lots of diatery issues and this trip was hard for him but part of his therapy. So many staff members went so far out of their way to make him comfortable and we are so grateful to all the restaurant staff for making accommodations for him. We are "foodies" and the food did not disappoint. My favorites were the bone marrow dish at Mole and carpaccio at Vento.

I also have to mention the activities team. Its not easy to keep everyone socially distant and entertained. This whole team did a great job. We enjoyed water aerobics, ceramic painting, water vollyball... The boys loved the jet ski and speed boat snorkling tour we booked onsite. I enjoyed a couple of massages at the spa, complete with a private hydro pool.

I especially enjoyed margarita making class with Giovani and wine tasting with Iran...there was a wonderful man that facilitated a tequila class but
unfortunately I cant remember everyones
names...too much tequila ;)

We travel each winter and Mexico has become our destination of choice, based on reviews we looked fwd to the Royal Svc at Paradisus but it did not live up to our expectations. Smooth and quick checkin process although there was a little pressure to attend a time share presentation; our firm no addressed this. When introduced to our butler we learned we needed to download an app to communicate with him. Potential to be efficient and effective but responses were inconsistent - some delays were by several hours (up to 24). We mainly used this for dinner reservations. Service was also slow at the restaurants and food quality was not as good as we hoped. We also booked an ocean view but the view was limited. A bit disappointing. If you are sensitive to scents be aware there is a lot of incense used everywhere and was quite strong. We had great service at the pool and really appreciate Aaron’s efforts. The water in pool was so warm; the beach was lovely too however every day was a red flag day. If you are looking for evening entertainment or daytime activities this resort had little to offer. We did appreciate how attentive staff was really attentive to the cleanliness of the resort and this was evident everywhere we went. Housekeeping did a good job on our room but on last two nights we were left short on towels even when we asked for more. When we checked out the process again was very quick. Surprised that we did not get assistance with our luggage as there were lots of stairs and quite a distance to main lobby. Would we go back? Not to this resort unfortunately but definitely toMexico.

Resort overall is beautiful with amazing ocean views and clean beaches. We stayed at the grand reserve ocean view, the best part of the room being the ocean view & huge porcelain bathtub. The beds were VERY VERY uncomfortable and we got bit by some kind of bugs. The room’s mini bar was not automatically stocked daily and we had to call. Room service food was gross & barely edible.

The overall resort food was mediocre at best, the highlight being the breakfast buffets. The dinners were not very good at all. Bana did however have good sushi. The house alcohol was watered down, the wines were not good, I recommend sticking to beer as your safest bet.

Rodolfo our butler was amazing & provided us with above & beyond service!!! Service on the beach under the Palapa’s was fantastic as well!

The YHI spa was also great! I recommend Gemma, as she gave the most relaxing message! Take into consideration that no place on the property has a hot tub, not even the spa which is supposed to.... The water is Luke warm at best.

Overall for the price of this all inclusive I would recommend just staying at a regular resort and venturing out to other restaurants to eat. We ate at Crabhouse and Fred’s seafood both were fantastic and across the street. We stayed at a Meliá in Dominican Republic and felt that the rooms were cleaner and comfier and that the food there overall was MUCH better than the Paradisus. This was a bit of a let down for us. Would not go back.

Just returned from a week long stay at the Paradisus Reserve to celebrate our anniversary and we had a fantastic time at the resort!

We got paired with Rodolfo as our butler and he went above and beyond to make sure that our anniversary was special. From booking our dinners at the different restaurants, making sure our needs were always met, and coordinating special treats and celebrations Rodolfo made it happen. He was always responsive, professional and friendly and when we return next year, we will definitely be requesting him again!!

By the pool, a big shout out to Aaron, Miguel, Cesar, Valeria and especially Josue who made sure we were always taken care of and kept the party going every day.

All the restaurants are very good, but our favorite, hands down, is Fuego! Delicious food and special thanks to Chef Angel, Guillermo and Joel who surprised us with a very special dinner on our last evening. Truly unforgettable!

As far as Covid-19 measures go, the hotel is extremely clean, has hand and shoe sanitation stations at every entrance. Your room is disinfected and secured before you arrive and you have to give permission for any staff member to enter during your stay. The buffet is still in operation however you cannot serve yourself, there are servers present at every station to serve your plate for you. Also, all silverware is disinfected and sealed for every meal and there are no more paper menus, all menus are now accessed through a QR Code using your smartphone.

The beach is a bit eroded due to a couple of hurricanes that hit in October, however it seems to be coming back now that things are calming down. Also as a result of the hurricanes, there were several repairs being done in the Reserve pool area during the last couple of days of our stay.

All in all, a wonderful and memorable experience and cannot wait to return!!!

We first went in March 2018 and were so impressed with the service, amenities and attention to detail that we decided to come back March 2020. Sadly the resort seems to be suffering financially and started cutting corners, making the experience less impressive. The servers are less attentive, often you have to get your own coffee and drinks after waiting over 20 mins to be served, they no longer offer the barista who would make cappuccinos or other drinks for you, the hot crepe station dissapeared, the room no longer gives you a welcome souvenir to remember your trip. Bottled water was eliminated and you have to settle for refilled cups which is harder to take to the beach with you. The kids club has 1 or maybe 2 staff trying to look after 10 or 12 kids, and often the parents have to stay with the kids due to limited supervision. The door lock mechanism in our room broke, locking us out, and the 5 mins we were told it would take for staff to come fix it turned into 40 mins. We needed a bed for my toddler as we'd booked a room for 3, and it took 2 days for them to bring up the extra cot. The fridge didn't work in the room. The buffet previously had themed nights, even one night was steak and lobster on the last trip. This time the buffet had the same items every night without variation, and the a la carte had mostly buffet items, they were just brought to you instead. We kept having to exchange the beach towels because they would be given out stained. I realize these things may seem silly to some, and of course the beach was lovely. The only outstanding thing was the spa which had incredible service, I'm guessing maybe because its $215 for a massage so they want to ensure the customer is satisfied. I just wanted to point out some of our concerns because it was all the little things that made this resort stand out in our minds. The servers were so quick and efficient on the last trip, the food was amazing, and the resort seemed to go all out with the attention to detail. If this is your first time, you'll probably have a good time. But if you come back for a second time and anticipate it to be same, I think you'll be dissapointed. Unfortunately next year we will try a different resort.

Paradisus it’s unbelievably good!! The food and drink are top quality and so many different options that it’s mind blowing. The staff though is just absolutely amazing (and I cannot stress this enough!), people are naturally super nice and don’t wait for you to tip them to provide an excellent treatment. I would and will recommend this resort to everyone. The service room is another cherry on top of the cake, everytime we went out for the day (by the amazing huge pool or beautiful clean beach) we would come back to a perfect room. I didn’t feel, not even for one moment, that either us or our belongings weren’t safe, we even left our safe locker opened once or twice just as an example for you to understand how safe, happy and exceptional this all-inclusive resort is.
Some other resorts give you cheap horrible drinks as well as food or even amenities and in some places staff gets kind of annoyed when you keep asking for drinks or etc., here is everything top top quality. From the toilet paper to the service, staff goes around the pools and wherever you are really asking if you would like anything, from food to drinks, you can ask as many as you want and it’s guaranteed they will bring it over to you with the biggest smile no matter what.
Also, rooms are pretty big and very clean. Staff also keeps your mini fridge stocked up, so you don’t have to worry with grabbing either water or other drinks from the cafeteria. Every single day they will be replaced!
I really couldn’t be any happier with our choice of coming here.
Definitely 10/10 guys!! Hope I can help anyone looking for advice, as before we came here we’ve spent around 1month researching and looking up all the resorts and respective reviews and sometimes can be quite confusing.
So therefore, I’m telling you, if you choose Paradisus you won’t be disappointed!! Will definitely come back, hopefully soon!!

My family and I truly had a fantastic stay at Paradisus Cancun. Although the beach, resort itself, the views on BOTH sides of the resort, the pools, and of course the food and drinks were absolutely great... It was the staff that really shined! From the bell boys to the concierge to the bartenders and the servers everyone was the epitome of the warmth and hospitality of the Mexican culture!

We stayed 8 days and 7 nights in a Reserve Oceanfront room. I definitely RECOMMEND going reserve!!! For what I think was a great value We were able to upgrade to a Reserve room, enjoy premium drinks, reserve poolside Bali beds, have an adult only pool and restaurant, and even included concierge service (set dinner reservations so we could enjoy most of the restaurants, helped keeped the snacks and beverages stocked in our fridge, and last but not least decorated our room for our 9 year old daughter for her birthday!) Thank you Stef your the best!

Each pool had it's own merit. The adult pool was laid back and very intimate and quiet. The pool in the middle of the resort had medium activity and we were able to enjoy a family atmosphere. The large pool has the action. Lined with Bali beds lounge chairs, swim up bar and activities! This was my favorite because even though there was plenty to do it was spacious enough to not ever be crowded. (Special thanks to servers Didi and Jesus! They went above and beyond taking care of the Family and their needs for lunch and drinks!)

Thank you Paradisus Cancun for a great vacation! This is our second stay at a Melia hotel and I was not disappointed.

If I had to list any negatives it would be the lack of ac in the common areas. It was warm in the restaurants but wasn't unmanageable. Also, the beach had lots of seaweed. I understand that can't be controlled and the resort worked as hard as they could to clear it and maintain the beach. There were however several days with little to no seaweed and the beach was very enjoyable and fun to play in the waves and bodysurf!

Royal Service certainly describes the pampering we've received here in our Royal Service Junior Suite Lagoon View.

They have thought of everything. From a beach bag to use during your stay to sunscreen and bronzing oils poolside. Even a free transfer to and from the airport which was seamless.

Each guest is assigned a butler that schedules all of your reservations, answers all questions and is ready to serve whenever you need them.

The Bali Beds, reserved by your butler are available for lounging pool and oceanside and are included for Royal service. Amazing waitstaff ensure you always have a drink in hand and food to eat whenever your heart desires. Luxury retreat at its finest!

Aquaworld Staff is onsite to schedule dives, and all trips leave from their shop across the street from Paridisus. We brought our own gear, so carrying it up and down the stairs was the only part that gave us a workout.

The Aquaworld dive staff washed all our gear with fresh water, so all we had to do was put it on the balcony to dry out before the trek home.

While this may not be your typical dive resort, it sure fit the bill for us this trip. Reviews of our dives have been posted at Aquaworld.

Bring cash for tips... while not expected, many deserve it. You'll want to tip them ❤

They have a lot of little snack bars by the pools that serve hot pizza and tacos. Sante Fe we got everyday for lunch, I am not sure if that is only for the Reserve or not but it was good. Also, the buffet is open for lunch as well and the Aquamarina restaurant I believe serves lunch but you may need a reservation!
