Safety & Travel: We LOVED our stay at Moon Palace!! We felt very safe there with our teenage kids. We left the resort three times using cab service and the security to get back in was very tight. We liked that. We visited Beach Palace, Isla Mujeres Palace, and Cozumel Palace. We figured since we traveled so far we would see the hotel zone beach and the islands. We ate at the sister resorts and used their pools on the days we traveled. Kids cannot use Isla Mujeres because that one is adults only. Had to pay for transportation, but with a little research ahead of time, it wouldn’t be bad. The trip to Playacar to catch the Cozumel ferry takes forever due to construction, but it is worth the trip. Resort Grounds & Service: Other than an ugly beach that is not swimmable, I really do not know how anyone could have a complaint about Moon Palace. We stayed at the Sunrise section. Loved the food (oh my gosh - it was delicious), entertainment, and enormous pool. The grounds were beautiful, and the staff worked tirelessly to make it a wonderful place. We paid for a swim-up suite and it was a good purchase. When the other pools close, you can walk right outside your glass door and take a dip at any time. The swim-up pool at Sunrise is big and beautiful, too. Medical Care on-sight in Case of Emergency; One thing I should mention was that our daughter got a bad ankle sprain using the surf machine. She fell and hurt herself. It was just an accident. A manager of a restaurant noticed her limping and had a medical assistant come to the restaurant to check her out. He recommended she see a dr. They had a Dr on staff and she got the most thorough exam we have ever seen. Our kids are athletes and have had injuries and sprains before. The Dr wrapped it, ordered a boot so she could still walk around & enjoy things without crutches, and followed up with us. Her boot and prescription for anti inflammatory meds was delivered the next morning. It was all very fast, effective, and inexpensive. Natalia, the Dr., was awesome. Many thanks to her!! Staff I feel so grateful to everyone who served us. Every single employee we encountered was nothing but kind and helpful. They never showed a tinge of being annoyed or frustrated to anyone at any time. We even witnessed obnoxious, spoiled people making demands and they still treated them with respect. I was in awe of their patience, and effort to accommodate every wish. We have never experienced this kind of service in the U.S. Outstanding!!! We said no to the time share pitch and they did not bother us. They called and left a message in the room - no harassment. They tried to talk to us when we were checking out, but we were simply in too big of a hurry to hear them out. Overall, Moon Palace is a great place for families!

Stayed at Moon Palace Sunrise on 29th May for 10 days with my wife and son. Yet another 1st class stay at this hotel. Every time you go, the excellent service and the quality food gets even better. There is ten restaurants to choose from. What ever your taste, there will be a restaurant for you. The staff give you exceptional service and work very hard. The pool on the Sunrise is the largest I've ever seen. Entertainment is fantastic. There is 24 hour room service included. Download the Palace Resorts App. All the information you need is on there. The rooms are lovely. Luxury huge bed with luxury bedding. Rooms are very clean. Mano at breakfast was very good. Fatima at the flow rider was fantastic. She really looked after our son Thomas. She is an absolute credit to the staff. I've been to many resorts all over the world. You'll not find a better value all-inclusive hotel than Moon Palace or any of the other Palace resorts.

Let me start by saying that my family and I have been coming to moon palace for 10 years now, and we are members. We stayed for 7 nights in Sunrise in mid June, myself and my boyfriend as well as my sister and her friend. We loved it! The service is always great, and if you need something, just ask! Overall we had an amazing time, I am counting down the days until I will get to come back. During our stay the weather was pretty bad- it rained almost everyday. However moon palace is so big, and has so much to do that there was never really a dull moment, and the staff does a lot to try to keep activities open even during the rain. My boyfriend and I enjoyed playing pool at the sky bar when rained in, as well as spending some lazy time relaxing in the in-room jacuzzi together. Also enjoyed the nightclub, it was surprisingly busy. Played what time to be a loop of Latin>House music> hip hop/ R&B so there’s a little something for everyone. We always spend at least one day at beach palace during our stays, this time was no exception. However due to Covid, they did not have the normal shuttle that brings you to the hotel strip. We just went outside and waited about 5 min for a taxi- cost a little over $20. We ended up taking another taxi to the Mercado 28, which was also around $20. They’ve got prices listed at the taxi stand but they’re not always accurate, I think it comes more down to what the particular driver is feeling that day. As far as food goes, we loved it! Food has always been good at moon palace but they’ve added some new restaurants that stepped the game up. We tried riviera maya on one of our first nights- Delicious! Highly recommend the pork belly taco appetizer and the Cochinita pibil! Plus the fresh hand made tortillas- hands down one of my favorite meals of our stay. My boyfriend loved the breakfast buffet every morning, however we also tried los corporales one morning for breakfast which was also outstanding. The app has a section to make reservations however it’s a bit iffy. Sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn’t. Often it would show there being seats available, but then when you tried to reserved those seats it would say no available seats. This made it very difficult to make reservations some days, we ended up calling the operator and with some nudging my boyfriend was able to get us same day reservations for la trattoria and next Day for momo. Operator explained that a lot of times reservations are booked two days out, so be aware of this and plan accordingly! La Trattoria is one of the older restaurants that in all our time at moon palace i had never been able to try until this trip, and i will say it is definitely worth making a reservation! Finally, I’ll get to resort credits. We were given $1500 of resort credit, as well as a 25 min massage for all of the adults and 2 mani/pedis. We took them up on the massages, and one of the mani/pedis- so relaxing! When we checked in we were given a list of what we could spend our 1500 resort credits on, and unfortunately I forgot to snap a picture of it. However there seemed to be a little something for everyone; adventures, golf, various upgrades etc. We ended up using all of our credit towards a swimming with dolphins expedition. Now, myself and my sister have swam with dolphins many times at moon palace, but our guests wanted to so we decided to take it. I would have to say, out of all the times we’ve swam with dolphins, this was probably the most anti-climatic and honestly I don’t think it was worth all $1500. We were shuttled to a park about 15 minutes from moon palace (transportation was not included, cost $35 total), where they were very efficient. There was minimal waiting time, we basically just got changed, got in and did the usual stuff and then got back out and right back on the bus. Don’t get me wrong it is always amazing to swim with dolphins, but I just feel like for all my resort credit I was definitely expecting more of an all day activity. Previous years we have done a trip to isla mujeres where we swam with dolphins and had a free lunch and bar as well as down time to snorkel and explore the Island, so i was expecting more of something like this. Word of advice, I would consider using resort credit for one of the more spectacular options and then just paying for dolphin swimming out of pocket if that’s something that interests you. Anyways, as always, we thoroughly enjoy every single day spent at moon palace, and I would not even consider staying at a non-palace resort! We will be back in the near future and would definitely recommend to any and everyone!

The best thing: 99 percent of the staff : fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable, excellent all around. The worst: the absolute worst excuse for a beach. Smelly, weeds everywhere, dark brown water that you aren’t permitted to enter even if you dared to want to do so. (It is red flagged.) Tied for worst: the nightmare, pushy membership (like a timeshare) crap. My wife got sucked into it, and because it was her birthday week—I didn’t complain and just went along. DO NOT GET SUCKED INTO THIS CRAP. IT IS NOT 90 MINUTES. It is 4 HOURS of hard sell for what amounts to (spoiler alert!) a very expensive discount plan. (Imagine a used car sales pitch. Multiply that by 8.). Day passes for the Grand, room credits, even lunch with my favorite celebrity would not be worth dealing with this insufferable waste of precious vacation time. Other highlights: Like others, we booked Sunrise, they tried to put us at Nizuc. Ordinarily I would have went along, but we had four rooms of friends booked and only two rooms ended up moved (we were not interested in separating and the rooms were linked as such.). We insisted on Sunrise as we had booked, and after three hours they found us “garden view” rooms instead of the “ocean view” rooms we paid more for. We were promised the “ocean view” rooms would be available for the remaining six nights. (The “garden view” rooms actually had a view of the ocean from the balcony albeit kind of far.). Fine. Next day: changed rooms. Ended up several buildings farther from the lobby, and slightly closer to the “ocean”. I have no idea what the “ocean view” upgrade was that increased the price by 10%, but… The grounds are quite nice. Nicely manicured etc. Saw lots of iguana/lizard reptiles. Saw deer. That was cool. The rooms are average. Not awful, not luxurious. Some deferred maintenance. Never got a king bed we planned on. The buildings have serious leaking on the rainy days in the common areas. It rained a lot while we were there and the buildings leaked from places they should not have in the common areas—usually the breezeways in the middle of buildings, sometimes from the light sockets. I’ll post a photo. Makes you wonder. Best meal, by far: Agra. Momo teppanyaki was pretty good too. But be prepared to be absolutely persistent for reservations at the places requiring them. The app is a waste of time for reservations, if you rely on it, you’ll never get anything. Most of the food is average buffet food. Nothing great, but nothing terrible either. COVID testing is a joke and a farce. Some of my party had results in their emails in three minutes. It is not an exaggeration. IT ISN’T POSSIBLE to have a real COVID test result in three minutes. My email took 40 minutes because the guy who performed the test forgot to turn in the results of me and my crew to the gal sending the emails. I get no one wants a positive COVID test. I get the hotel doesn’t want to deal with someone who tests positive. But if we are paying for it, and we are, it should be a real test. (It took over an hour, sitting in a ballroom, to SCHEDULE the test.) I even asked the guy who swabbed me if anyone came back positive. He said he hadn’t had one. It sounds great, but it is total BS. As long as Mexico remains one of the limited places tourists can go without too much COVID restriction, Mexico and more specifically this place will stay booked to capacity and they’ll keep making their money. But I won’t be back. There are just too many places that are … better. To have such an abysmal excuse for a beach, despite advertising photos crystal blue water, is just a deal-breaker on in a destination for … beach vacations. I can fend off joining the timeshare crap—but I have no ability to fix geography. Now hotel public relations department can post the obligatory response that my critiques have been relayed to the appropriate departments, and go back to stalking people to pay now for discounts on future stays.

Los Caporales Wow! Amazing! Exceptional! How else do you describe a restaurant that goes above and beyond to make your last night memorable. Our server, Yahir, was attentive and made the evening exceptional. Yahir made suggestions regarding food. We began with different types of salsa, all so flavorful. Then came the tacos and elote, both were fantastic. We ordered our main dishes. I thought I was full until the flan came out. I am not one for sweets, but I finished the entire thing. If you visit Moon Palace Nizuc, Los Caporales is a must!
