This restaurant was amazing! Certainly the best part of our trip so far. The food was perfect, the mariachi band was excellent, and the service was great— especially from Rumaldo and Juan. I would definitely recommend visiting this restaurant to anyone staying at the Krystal Cancun.

I booked my entire stay in March 1st for MAY 13th for a king size ocean view. When we arrived they said they had no available rooms when I booked this WAY in advance. They told me they didn't want to put me near the clubs because it was too loud and all the clubs closed at 4 AM. So of course we didn't take that option and they said to come back the next day for our room. We came back three consecutive days and still no room, when we asked for compensation they said offered us a room near the clubs and didn't take. Well why would we take it if your telling us its terrible WHICH COME TO FIND OUT ALL THE CLUBS CLOSED AT 1 AM. So they lied and didn't do ANYTHING for us. Just money hungry careless people. Also terrible food, nothing authentic.

There are positives and negatives and depending on your needs this may not fit your needs. Know what you are booking this is for the Krystal Cancun. This is not for the Grand Krystal hotel. For the Krstal Cancun, there are two directions you can go from the lobby. To the right is probably what you would reserve. The left of the lobby is more for their timeshare buyers and Club Krystal owners or whatever they call them from what I heard. The left side from the lobby is better maintained, has air conditioning, and with 1-2 bedroom suites with kitchenette if you know what normal timeshare rooms and features. I will not be reviewing those. We did not stay there and I don't think these can be booked on travel websites and may only for their timeshare or Club owners. Pros: 3 good reservation restaurants. These have better food than the buffets. Reservations run out quickly and have to be reserved each day no sooner than 8am at the concierge desk. By 11am they all may be booked and lines to book them can be long at times.. Beach and pool are nice. Staff at bars and restaurants are helpful and friendly. The hotel currently pays for 2 covid antigen test per room for those flying home to US. For more than 2 you pay for and they don't pay for PCR covid test if you need it. Outside themed dinners few times a week were nice. Cons: Read other reviews to see how these are not just a problem when we went or just during our stay and make your own decisions on if these are chronic problems. And in my pure opinion...something that will be a probably be there when you go. Maybe they will fix them but I believe these are just ways they save money. The worst for our family and the deal breaker that will make it so we never go again to this hotel is the air conditioning. If you don't mind your room being no cooler than 78 to 80 F, then you probably won't mind. We could not sleep in that much heat. And that was when it was 84 F for highs. There is a thermostat and something that cools the room but not really anything cooler than 78 F for us. They say the air-conditioning was broken and they were fixing it. I don't think that was true. I think they never have air-conditioning to the rooms to the right of the lobby. And the higher floor you are in, the hotter it feels due to heat rising. They said the whole hotel was like this so no other cooler rooms. We had to buy a box fan to cool the room from local store to survive and one day sleep outside on pool chairs to stay cool at night. Some of the outside bathrooms near pool had air-conditioning units and one of the few cool places to break the heat when they had them running. The drinks for the all inclusive seem to be watered down but you can get as many as you want or just ask for a shot of something to be added to make it stronger. Or of course good tipping may get you stronger drinks. Buffet food is average. First night we saw cockroaches, maybe 8 actively crawling in front of the hamburger grilling area where metal and counter met and there was a space. We didn't eat at the Aquamarine or something like that again after that. At Las Velas restaurant it is an open to air restaurant. That is nice but one breakfast there were birds that kept flying in and walking on the food and stealing some. The staff at times moved them out but they would keep coming back when no one actively at the stations. And worst in my opinion. they did not remove and throw out the food after being told what we saw touched. The positive outcome we saw is the hotel did seem to hire a guy the next day with a hawk or something like that to scare away the birds so the would go away and not come back. It worked well that day and the next so birds we not an issue those days.

Surprised by all the bad reviews, but I think it comes down to difference in travel styles. Will try my best to be concise. We arrived around 1 PM and the rooms weren't ready. They asked us to come back in 30 minutes. While we waited we grabbed a drink at the lobby bar. The lobby is not well-air conditioned, but it didn't bother us much. Our room was really nice. Clean, AC worked perfectly, beautiful view of the beach from our balcony. Room service and house keeping were very responsive! The drinks aren't super strong, but I think that is to be expected at a resort. The positive is that we never had to wait for than 2-3 minutes to get bar service. The food was standard resort food. Nothing incredibly special. The facility overall is comfy. There was some construction going on by one area of the pool, but otherwise you get exactly what you see advertised. Clean pools, convenient beach side accommodations, and spa services (we got massages from Veronica--she has hands of gold!) Complimentary COVID test scheduling was straightforward. We were able to get a morning slot for the next day. They were very good about getting guests in and out so you can enjoy your day. The biggest inconveniences during our stay were the slow elevators (again, nothing major--my stay was that good!!) and malfunctioning rooms keys. Even with all that hotel staff is very gracious and helpful. Made these minor inconveniences almost negligible. I would definitely recommend Krystal Cancun for your next stay!
