Hotel's Favourite
I'm a fan and member of the IHG InterContinental collection of hotels. The Presidente InterContinental lived up to the standard I have come to expect from IHG. The hotel is situated on the nicest beach in Cancun. I contacted the hotel Director Guillermo Valencia prior to my stay to inquire about the safety precautions the hotel was taking in light of the pandemic. I am pleased to report that my family and I felt very comfortable our entire stay. All the employees wore face masks and I observed staff members constantly cleaning and sanitizing. The lounge chairs by both pools and the beach were nicely spaced so as to avoid close contact with other guests. I booked 3 rooms and all 3 rooms overlooked the ocean which was as calm as it was rich in beautiful hues of light and dark blue. My family spent most of the time on the hotel grounds at the beautiful beach. We enjoyed our evenings at the outdoor bar. Service on the beach and the outdoor bar was outstanding. I will point out our server on the beach (Freddy) was attentive to all our needs and I would also point out that the outdoor bartender Gonzalo was phenomenal and the service was great. The hotel offers water activities. We went jet skiing, banana boating and Kayaking. As an FYI, the first 30 minutes of kayaking is free. Overall our stay was great and I highly recommend this hotel for those looking for serenity, peace and quite and for some relaxing fun in the sun. I plan to stay here again. Thank you Presidente for a magnificent family vacation!

Location is great. 10 minute walk to the supermarket, restaurants, cheap public transportation, no dance clubs nearby. Beach has soft white sand. Almost no seaweeds. Water is clear. Great for small kids. Lots of beach chairs and umbrellas. No towels available in the afternoon during our second day. Breakfast is pretty average. Fruit, pastry, omelette station, juices, potatoes, sausages,… Front desk is really slow. It takes long time to get anything done there. During our stay it rained a lot. We still were able to enjoy the pool and the ocean. I need to say that our room was on the ground floor. After a night with lots of rain, we wake up to a room with lots of water on the floor. After we contacted the front desk, housekeepers came and put lots of towels in front of the door. See pictures. We books a room for 4. 2 adults and 2 kids. We had towels only for 2. It wasn’t the end of the world, but we had to wait for more towels. We didn’t expect any room service due to COVID which we were ok with. We travel a lot and we don’t need anybody to fix our beds in the middle of the day. Also, due to COVID we don’t request/ housekeeping during our stay. After we came back from pool, our beds were fixed. Ok, no problem. Nothing we can do except go to front desk and tell them no more housekeeping . Easy fix. As I was ready to leave the room, my son said that his money is missing. It was only 200 pesos but it was his spending money. At this point we were in Mexico for 5 days with 6 more days to go. Knowing my child, I asked him to check everything before I was going to talk to front desk. We checked the whole room. My son said he left the money under his hat or it may have fallen on the floor. So, not really a place for a tip for a housekeeper. Front Desk Visit #1: I talked to a supervisor. He said they will contact Loss Prevention and a Security (for 200 pesos?) and I need to check later about the result. Front Desk Visit #2: I came back after dinner. I was told that they are still looking into it, trying to contact the housekeeper and I need to check next day. Front Desk Visit #3: “Did you report it?” “Yes, I did.” Again, I was asked to come back later because they are still investigating it. It is late in the afternoon and we have only one night left. I will post an update. Wondering what would have happened if we left 500 pesos in the room. My husband always tips well at the end of the stay. It seems like that 200 pesos will be the tip for the housekeeper.

Worst check in experience I have ever encountered. Erick was extremely unhelpful and gave us a horrible first impression of the hotel, he refused all our requests including early check in, and he was not courteous about it. He also gave us 2 separate beds although we told him that it is our honeymoon and our booking was for a king bed, and our luggage took forever to arrive. I used to really enjoy IHG hotels but this is probably the last time I stay in one since their quality of staff obviously deteriorated.

I stayed during June 2021 and had an excellent experience. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, the food and drinks were delicious, the staff was gratuitously accommodating and the beach was perfect! Will be back again.
