Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta garners compliments for its pristine condition and excellent location, with travelers consistently lauding the clean facilities, attentive service, and stunning private beach setting. However, some guests have called out the rooms for being a bit dated and noisy, which, along with occasional construction sounds, can detract from the peaceful atmosphere.
While the lively entertainment scene is a hit for many, it may overwhelm guests in search of quiet. Moreover, the additional costs and perceived lack of value for money have been noted as drawbacks.

Hotel's Favourite
Poolside and Beachside service- excellent as always. If you treat everyone you meet with kindness, I find you will always be well received. No shortage of chairs or umbrellas.
Restaurants- reservations are recommended. This is new and we encountered 0 problems with this. The resort was full this past weekend (except for the rooms under renovations).
We walked right up to the Culinary Concierge desk in the lobby and made a handful of reservations all in one go. We were done in less than 5 minutes.
Please note as always there is a surcharge if you choose to order the Tomahawk steak and or Lobster when in season. This is standard.
As for the food quality, this is very subjective. We along with the other 6 clients and 2 agents enjoyed every meal. We ate at Blaze, Pureza, the buffet and Casa Grande and room service. We ran out of time as this was a short trip but our friends enjoyed the Italian. Now for me, Asian fusion isn't my favorite type of food, yet it was my clients! We all have different taste buds, but I assure you every meal was presented well, served hot and enjoyable.
Alcohol- Premium brand drinks are available in the Club section. In the regular bars and restaurants are the normal brands you would recognize vs other resorts that serve watered-down local no-name alcohol. Is there a particular brand or type of alcohol you were wondering about? I do have photos.
Construction- we were not advised of the construction. It is stopping Dec 15th, restarting Jan 3rd. Stopping Jan 20th and then the rest of the rooms will be done in May through next November. Now as in construction here in Canada things can arise and result in changes in the timelines due to things that are out of the resort's control. Ie materials not received due to shipping delays.
The pool in front of the regular tower (its a small pool) you could hear the construction, ie an occasional hammer or drill. We were at this pool once during our stay but we, as do you have the choice of where to sit. There is an adults-only swim-up pool, an adults only quiet pool, and 2 main pools. We heard 0 construction at any of these 4 pools. We also heard 0 construction at the beach (the sound of crashing waves yes, families playing yes, construction no).
Resorts are continually maintaining and upgrading. The resort has 0 control over a pipe bursting (as you may have read the previous reviews) or electrical issues but guest safety is always #1.
We are all actually looking to rebook for next year.

We stayed at the club level building which has newer and larger rooms with concierge service. The views at the upper levels are gorgeous.
The bell hop service was real good as they were helpful in guiding us to our outside excursions by providing insightful advice and making sure we are safe when we hopped into our Uber.
The beach views, with rolling mountains are wonderful and so different than any other beach.
The staff are plentiful, attentive and very polite. Very typical of the hard working Mexican culture.
Generally the food was average but they have special occasions where the food is really good. This combined with the service easily makes up for it.
The drinks were good but you need to stay in the Club tower to get the top shelf Don Julio reposado and go to the sports bar to get Indio beer on tap. Else you will get tecate, dos equis...
There are daily events listed in the app you need to download.
Every Wednesday they have a fresh fish lunch on the beach. You must not miss this as the captain goes out in the morning to get the fresh catch. In this day, they
caught and served up fresh Mahi- Mahi, tilapia, and red snapper. I had sushimi, tilapia tacos and fried snapper. Simply the best...and probably one of my highlights.
Alicia from excursions and Jorge from office were just stupendous and made us feel well taken care of. This place is very close to the city and we would venture into town within 10 minutes and it would only cost about 143 pesos or about 7 bucks US one way via Uber, sometimes even cheaper.
This place is not just a full service resort, it is a place that has a perfect location, great service and people that genuinely care to make your stay as nice as possible.
There are many other aspects that I have not covered but you will see when you come visit The Hyatt in PV.

The Hyatt Ziva is a beautiful resort in a secluded location with a beach that felt completely private and not packed.
They have multiple places for you to just hang out and chill or party it up. Whatever you’re looking to experience, they likely have it.
The service overall was spectacular, they respected covid guidelines and they had live entertainment frequently during the day and at night. For the most part is was a great stay.
A couple things to watch out for,
1. Although you can’t find a room with a bad view our room was close to the highway so just sitting out on our patio and listening to the waves of the ocean wasn’t really a thing. Even on the 10th floor of the main tower we could hear cars buzzing by in our room and outside our room. I would suggest getting a room ending in the teens and not in the single digits (we were in 2001).
2. The drinks are made with brands of alcohol you recognize but they don’t taste like it. I ordered a vodka soda most of the time I was there. They pour it out of an Absolut bottle but it tastes off. When we went into downtown PV and ordered the same drink, it tasted like it should.
3. The food is good but it’s certainly resort food. You can find better in town. We also had a bad experience the last night we were there at Blaze.
We asked our hostess for a table for four and she said “give me a couple minutes while I turn that table right there” and she pointed to the table.
We politely waited and saw her cleaning it. As that was happening another group came up behind us and clearly had a very friendly relationship with one of the servers. The guests behind us and the server finished their conversation (the guest behind us called the server a China-man multiple times which having an Asian man in our party felt really uncomfortable) and then the server left to have a conversation with the hostess who was cleaning our table.
60 seconds later the hostess comes to us and says it’s actually a 40 minute wait for dinner. When I asked what happened to the table she just promised she said, “that’s for someone else.”
When we checked in we were told restaurants were first come first serve so this felt deceiving and like they were doing a favor for a preferred guest.
Although the property is beautiful and our experience was mostly great, we’ll likely not stay again.

This was my first time travelling to Mexico and wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. I’m usually not keen on all inclusive but I thought I’d try it out.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. Any feedback is meant to be constructive and my positives outweigh the negatives.
Starting with service, this is what makes the hotel. Every member of staff went out of their way to be polite, friendly and helpful.. I’m sorry if I missed some names, but special mention goes to: Nohely, Mariza, Christian, Brandown
Gennaro and Ignacio
There was never a time I didn’t have a drink in my hand!! The drink quality is excellent and recognisable spirits and beers at all times.
The buffet food is good (a bit samey) for all inclusive in terms of quality but often too cold, this is something that needs to be addressed. Tho I particularly loved the breakfasts with fruits and pancakes etc!
We particularly enjoyed the Italian with lovely pizza /pastas and it’s table service, so gives you a break from the buffet style.
The rooms are decent with a comfy bed and kept clean but I was disappointed that we were allocated a room without a balcony- make sure you check before going to your room if this is important. We couldn’t move as the hotel was full ... the shower had a terrible smell and despite mentioning it, nothing appeared to be done about it.
I used the gym on three occasions and it was well equipped for a decent weights session.
The views onto the beach and pools are lovely! We never usually sunbathe on the beach on hols, but the waves crashing and the fine clean sands, meant we made an exception.
My criticism is the beds. They are tired and sinking down, meaning I suffered with a bad back all of the holiday. The poolside beds are newer but not allowed on the beach...
There is evening entertainment but we didn’t see any as we were more than happy to eat and then have some drinks at the sports bar or sunset bar.
We enjoyed it, and would return but to a room with a balcony and perhaps an upgraded modernised room.

My boyfriend and I travel to Mexico every February have Never has an experience like this place. Start by saying they put all photos on the website for the new building which we knew nothing about we were put in the old building and never informed us of the much cleaner newer building . They charge $60 their Mexican restaurant for lobster which tasted like rubber. But the worst was eating breakfast at their Blaze restaurant and while eating I had a big chunk of glass in my eggs and not by boyfriend two days prior also had chips of glass in his eggs. Upon checkout we were put through 3 different employees before finally meeting the Manager of this resort . We asked for a refund which they denied and wanted to give us points to go back why would I go back to this place. At the same time they said we owed $120 for a beach hut so they did not even do that for us. We were late almost missed our flight and came back with Nothing from them. They should just have been lucky I did not swallow that glass. I don’t need a response back from Management apologizing for doing NOTHING for us. I travel to many beautiful all inclusive resorts this is not one of them!!!!

My wife and I spent New Year's 2021 at the resort. Unfortunately a couple of the restaurants were closed because of reduced capacity due to COVID-19. However, we ate lunch every day at Blaze and sat right next to the beach and looked out over the ocean sipping margaritas. Fantastic! Our dining highlight was eating chorizo tacos at the Taqueria open for dinner from 6 PM to 10 PM. Outstanding tacos. The house margaritas there maybe were not as good as at Blaze or in our tower but an outstanding experience nonetheless! Room service was open 24/7 so we took advantage of that many times for breakfast, late dinners, and desserts. We had read many reviews before we left and noticed people had mentioned waiting 45 minutes or longer for meals but our longest wait was probably 4 minutes. We attended a few shows in the evening which were entertaining each lasting about 45 minutes. As far as the hotel goes, the structure is old and no doubt could have some aesthetic improvements. The landscaping and grounds were beautiful. The staff were extremely accommodating and very, very kind. COVID-19 protocols were in force with shoe cleansing stations, sanitizing stations, and all staff wore their masks at all times. Unfortunately it was the tourists and us selfish Americans not wearing our masks as we should thinking we are somehow better. Overall, it was an absolutely outstanding vacation and will be going back there without a doubt!

I have never been to this property before and was so pleasantly surprised when I arrived to how beautiful and lush the location was. The green jungle framing the property and the secluded private beach protected by two coves made me and my family feel safe and that we arrived in paradise!!
We were nervous traveling in COVID and when we arrived we were greeted with warm towels and asked to disinfect our shoes before even stepping onto the property! Our bags were sprayed down before they were taken to our room. This was fantastic! The Hyatt made us feel safe the moment we walked onto the property!
We were delivered chocolate covered strawberries on arrival for our anniversary which was such a thoughtful touch… all the rooms have an ocean view and with the large windows it was glorious to wake up to sunrise in our room getting to look at the ocean.
The entertainment team was incredible! Okimy, Geo, Antonio, Enrique, Alex, Octavio, Alexa and all of the crew are awesome, They were engaging and always ready to play with our kids be it for water volleyball or water balloon fights. The kids enjoyed all the evening shows especially the Fuego Fire Show!! The performers were so talented and amazing. Jessica from kids club was so great with my kids—they loved her! They did crafts, played at the beach, hiked the jungle and played water games. They were sad to leave..
Miguel from the turtle nursery was so informative and it was so neat to see the baby turtles on our stay. Unfortunately due the the weather we were unable to see them released.
We loved eating at Blaze overlooking the water! The servers are all so attentive and ready for any requests we had! Definitely have the fajitas they are so fresh and tasty. We really loved the Italian restaurant Melanzane! The staff did a great job managing any peak times by letting us know if there was a slight wait or not which I found very helpful! I think I ate there at least four nights! My faves were the Capellini Fruitti di Mare and the espresso ice cream dessert.
I was fortunate enough to get an 80 minute athleltic massage with Miguel at the spa. The massage was amazing and Jose who helped me around the facility was so attentive and sweet! I enjoyed the sauna and having cucumbers placed on my eyes by Jose for the jacuzzi which is all included in the service! The spa overlooks the ocean and beach. It is definitely zen and worth going to!
The gym was nice and equipped with TRX, treadmills, bikes, free weights and universal equipment! Great views from the gym and an outdoor patio to do your workout as well. Loved Jorge who was there in the mornings to give us our towels and water.
I cannot say enough about this hotel. We will be going back and brining our friends next time! Grateful to the Hyatt Ziva PV for making memories for our family! ❤️

Stayed here for my boyfriends birthday & it was beautiful! We had a club king hot tub suite. Absolutely the best. My boyfriend says we will only stay here whenever we come to Puerto Vallarta. Our view off of the ocean made us feel alone with the ocean. The hot tub on the balcony was great. You fill it up, so you choose the temperature of the water. It was a little stained due to it being old, but it was perfect at the same time. Allowed us to have private alone time while watching the sunset off the ocean. Housekeeping comes when you ask, not everyday due to COVID. Liked that part.
Beatriz helped me plan a beautiful birthday room decor (rose petals, door banner, balloons, champagne, & a slice of cake) & a romantic dinner on the beach for my boyfriend & it was beyond amazing. We did the Endless Love dinner. The lobster salad & steak were delicious. I certainly recommend doing a dinner on the beach if you’re celebrating anything. Thank you again Beatriz!
The food at the other restaurants was ok. Melan Zone was really good. The breakfast bacon sucks lol. It’s thin & extra crunchy. Prefer thick cut bacon. Drinks were great. For my margarita ppl try your margarita with Tajin on the rim instead of salt/sugar. Tastes really great with a strawberry margarita.
The spa was beautiful & great! With I would’ve just had a whole spa day. They have their own pool & jacuzzi. The massage was great. We did the deep tissue couples massage.
Hotel takes COVID precautions serious. Masks are required throughout the hotel, they have shoe sanitizing stations at every entry/exit of the lobby, restaurants, stores etc. they also take temperatures of everyone who steps foot on the property. Each time our Uber would pick us up or drop us off the hotel staff took the drivers temp, gave them hand sanitizer, and sprayed their shoes. I really appreciated that.

I have written before about this Hotel. Each time we go back it is even better. We have been going to the property for Christmas vacations since it was a 'Dreams' property. Hyatt took it over and made excellent improvements. They improved the swimming pools, upgraded the buildings, especially the Club tower; and each year there is another new feature. This year they opened an outstanding Sports bar. They kept the various specialty restaurants and changed one to a Brazilian style- one where waiters carry to your table skewers of various meats. At most all-inclusives I have been at, it is hard to get into the specialty restaurants, but at the Hyatt Ziva there is never a problem, and there are no long lines in the morning where you have to sign up. The buffet is excellent every day. This year, to my delight, the breakfast buffet had an automated continuous fresh orange juice machine. The beach is excellent and completely private for the hotel guests. At many all inclusives the evening entertainment is put on by the hotel staff, but here they bring in excellent performers nightly. With no exceptions the staff are excellent. We did not meet even one staff member who was not friendly and helpful..The only downside for me writing this review is that it may make it harder for me to get reservations next Christmas; but they deserve the praise.

My husband and I have been wanting to stay here for a few years now and we finally were able to make it happen. We traveled here as a family of 2 adults and our 6 children ages 1-16. Our review is based on a family experience. The pictures don’t lie. The beach here is gorgeous! We have stayed in other areas in Puerto Vallarta/Nuevo Vallarta and this is by far the best and cleanest beach. The water was so warm and perfect.
I always like to break down my reviews with pros and cons. Covid does change things but I expect that and don’t deduct because of that.
Pros:
BEACH!
Hand sanitizer stations everywhere that had a coconut yummy smell
Greetings upon arrival
Ivan, Jessica in activities was so kind to my children, alejandro poolside waiter, jesus in Italian restaurant (my 5 year old begged to go back just to listen to him make his cricket sounds)
Turtle release. This was highlight of our trip!
Mariachi band on Friday at Casa Grande
Easy to get a taxi. $80 pesos for one way trip to Malecon
Beach vendors not aggressive just right.
Beautiful sunsets
Cons:
Room we stayed in main tower smelled musty, AC didn’t seem to work that great and the mattresses were not comfortable and we would
Wake up sweating.
Elevators not working so we all had to use service elevators which took forever and we had to cram into a small elevator with many other guests/staff.
Not enough umbrellas for everyone on the beach.
Hot tubs not hot at all
The grounds were not very clean and garbage and room service trays left out for a very long time before being picked up. I do think this may have been due to this resort having just opened a week before we arrived. I am guessing normally cleaner than when we were there.
We don’t drink so just ordered a lot of virgin pina coladas, not the best we have had and we have stayed at a few AI resorts in Mexico.
