BellView is Fantastic, Magical and Historic located in “Gringo Gulch” a popular area in the heart of Puerto Vallarta, just behind the emblematic Guadalupe Cathedral, with an incredible view of the bay and the city. “Gringo Gulch” is a charming and picturesque residential enclave that in the 50s and 60s was christened. The houses are typically white with tile roofs and covered with bougainvillea flowers. Providing a magnificent view of the city, as the mountains and the sea that surround it. During the filming of the movie “The Night of the Iguana”, one of the actors Richard Burton bought a house in this neighborhood for the Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor, they owned two houses that you will see with a bridge that connects them over the street.

We loved our stay at this charming boutique hotel. We stayed in the Fuente de Milagros room, which had its own mini courtyard with a fountain, as well as a private patio looking out over the roof of the iconic Parroquia. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, perfectly maintained and spotlessly clean. The decoration is creative and charming and everything is done to a high standard. Even with the ornate furniture and sculptures, it still feels airy and modern. Our bathroom was huge and beautiful. Hot water and wifi could be tricky and required a little patience. Toiletries, drinking water and coffee were provided. The hotel is very quiet and we enjoyed sitting on the patio and watching the swallows fly around the cupolas of the church, as well as the frigate birds soaring above the ocean. The location is very convenient to the malecon and many great restaurants, but note that you will need to be able to navigate steep hills and lots of stairs. Being up the hill means you enjoy the breeze and the view. We had cocktails one night in the bar and enjoyed the sunset and great service. We did not have a chance to eat at the La Capella restaurant but we wish we had - it's stunningly beautiful. The restaurant also serves breakfast. Front desk was very helpful, but note that this is not a full service luxury hotel, if that is what you need. But if you are a bit more of an independent traveller looking for a place full of character and charm, We did not find the church bells and violin music to be too loud at all, but rather charming - perhaps if these bells and music bother you, you will be happier at a generic resort owned by a multinational company? For those looking for a more authentic experience of Mexico, I highly recommend this hotel. We will definitely be back next time we visit PV. So romantic!

Beautiful property and hotel staff are warm, friendly, and go out of their way to serve you and accommodate any request. We moved rooms during our stay and the second room had very stiff, old mattresses. The first room had a very nice memory foam mattress. There’s also a sign in the bathrooms that a $20 fee applies for stained towels. This seems to be an ongoing issue for the hotel, and given that women wear foundation, eyeliner, mascara, etc. perhaps they should provide black face cloths instead of charging additional fees. That said, I would not hesitate to stay here again, and plan to do so in the future.

I booked two BellView Suites, one for my niece and one for me in February 2021 for a week. Each of the suites flank La Cappella, the restaurant housed within BellView. I was in Las Cruces and I felt as though I had been transported to another place and time. Honestly, I felt as though I were in Italy! My room was not only tremendous in size with lovely antiques, it had a very large bathroom with lovely pedestal tub, which was stunning, and a tiled shower. The room also has a balcony overlooking the backside of the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Bell Towers. There is a water view (where I would occasionally see whales blow and crest the water) and spectacular sunset views. But the best part of the balcony for me was hearing the violins play below at La Cappella. The music brought tears to my eyes every time the violinists would play “Por ti volare”. This room was one of the most romantic rooms I have ever experienced in my lifetime. Perfect for a honeymoon! Yes... the bells go off every hour as well as every quarter hour but this is part of the charm and did not bother me in the least while sleeping!

My niece and I met each morning for breakfast in LaCappella which was fabulous, not only for the fantastic breakfast (French Toast and fresh OJ is a must) but the view of the water in the morning is truly breathtaking! Caesar was an extremely attentive and pleasant waiter.

The staff is wonderful, the views are the best in Puerto Vallarta, the food is delicious at La Cappella, and my room was over the top. The only negative thing I can say was that it took quite a while to get hot water to the shower and the water pressure is fairly low. But with all the other amenities, that was a minor inconvenience. I booked another week in December. This is not just another boutique hotel, it’s an experience....it’s priceless!

My wife and I have eaten at the La Cappella restaurant many times over the years. I don’t recall ever looking at the website since our concierge usually made our reservations, however on this trip I check out the restaurant to look for restrictions it was at this time I discovered Bellview Hotel, which is part of La Cappella.

In reviewing the website, my wife and I knew we just had to stay in one of their elegantly appointed rooms. The amenities and the architecture is something most people just dream of finding, and never have the opportunity to stay it.

Though we had other hotel arrangements for the week, we made reservations at La Cappella for dinner, (which is a whole different Trip Advisor article, because it’s a dream of a restaurant, and the violinists takes the incredible restaurant to a whole different level). We also made reservations at Bellview Hotel, dismissing the fact we had a room already at a different hotel for the same night. That room would remain empty for the night while we experienced Bellview Hotel.

We checked in a few hours prior to our dinner reservation so we could enjoy our experience. We had a suite with a balcony which was about the same size as our room. Trust me when I say, both the room and the balcony were enormous. The balcony overlooks the Catholic Church of Guadalupe. When I say over looks, I mean it, because Bellview is directly across the street from the church. It has a view you only see in magazines from someone’s else’s vacation. We were living the Bellview experience, all to ourselves.

I can go on and on. The rooms are worthy of the finest taste, as is the restaurant, La Capella, for both Dinner and Breakfast.

I almost forgot to mention, this property is one block from the front of the Church and 3 blocks from the Malacon, in the HEART of beautiful Puerto Vallarta.

I’m not a blogger, and I’m not a travel agent, but I am a person that enjoys great service and great ambiance, and with the Bellview Hotel and La Cappella, it’s truly a win win.

Please contact me should you have any questions. Safe and healthy travels

We had a wonderful stay at the bellview in PV. From the friendly and helpful front desk to the attentive waiters in the amazing Capella restaurant, the service was impeccable.
Daniella and Chantal in the front office offered a wealth of information and we’re always present to assist us with a smile. Truly appreciated.

We were celebrating a birthday and the front desk sent the most delicious chocolate covered strawberries to our room. We also had dinner in the restaurant, and enjoyed the strolling violinists and the delicious food served facing the fabulous view and sunset.

One day we had forgotten to turn our “make the room sign” and when we returned late afternoon we wanted to get some fresh towels and within just a few minutes, someone came to refresh our bathroom.

The hotel itself is quaint and tastefully appointed with each room having its own charm. Ours had an exceptionally large balcony o overlooking Our lady of Guadalupe church. In addition to being large we enjoyed having a veranda complete with a fountain ( hence the name fuente Milagros)
Bedding was firm just the way we like it.
Overall a great stay! We would not hesitate to recommend this lovely place.

This small hotel is wonderfully situated just uphill of the cathedral in central Puerto Vallarta. It has a excellent view of Banderas Bay as well as of the bell towers of the cathedral. The rooms are exquisitely decorated with antiques; our room Las Cruces had a small patio and a relaxing soaking tub. Service was caring and response was rapid. La Capella, the restaurant which led us to consider staying at this hotel, is one if the best in PV. In addition to the good variety of well prepared continental cuisine,a roving violin duo creates a dining experience.

After two nights at Hacienda San Angel someone pointed out La Cappella restaurant located directly across the street, stating it is excellent. I decided to check it out. I did not know there is a hotel with this restaurant: The Bellview. I was trying to decide whether to extend my stay at San Angel beyond my original two nights and walking into the Bellview I thanked my own angels for bringing me there :-) Wow. Spectacular. The decor, the unimaginably stunning views which are certainly THE best in all of PVR: the place is a gem. A mix of old and modern design, much attention is paid to detail such as roses in the hallways, fresh bouquets of flowers in the rooms. A trio of amazing violinists make dinner unforgettable. I strayed five glorious nights and didn't want to leave.

If you’ve dined at La Cappella Restaurante you know exactly how wonderful everything about it is. The unbeatable view, the beautiful architecture, the professional service, the delicious cocktails and well-prepared Italian dishes, the trio of musicians... it’s one of the best experiences in Puerto Vallarta. After enjoying several good evenings at La Cappella on past trips, my husband and I decided to take the experience a step further and spend a few nights at the BellView, the boutique hotel attached to the restaurant.

The BellView doesn’t have the traditional public spaces of a hotel. It’s more a collection of rooms, and the rooms are all subject to the primacy of the restaurant and Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe—the pleasing sounds of people enjoying a good meal, stringed instruments, and church bells are available throughout the property. But the hotel experience is on par with the restaurant. The staff is kind, the rooms are beautifully decorated and well kept (also stocked with ear plugs!), and every room has stunning views of the church and Banderas Bay.

The two biggest treats of the BellView experience, though, are a direct result of its relationship to La Capella: breakfast is available on La Cappella’s lower terrace, and during the afternoon a few lounge chairs are set out near the dipping pool on the lower terrace for guests.

Christopher is the server on duty during the day, and he and the kitchen staff who are there to prep for the evening provide hotel guests with a fantastic 3-course breakfast (chilaquiles, pancakes, fresh fruit), and ensure anyone who spends the afternoon at the pool is well fortified with drinks and snacks. And the fact that most guests are out whale watching or touring tequila distilleries means it’s possible to have the place all to yourself!

Overall, a really great experience. I’ll recommend the BellView to family and friends and am already looking forward to our next visit.

What a jewel, the beauty of this historic place, the beams on the ceiling, tile floor and their two armoires, did not go wasted on me. I appreciate all of the room ambience.
The staff could not have any nicer than they were to us.
We also had breakfast the next morning, again the staff was great we had eggs Benedict and it was delicious, dinner the night before with wonderful romantic music being played and the place was full which should be a good sign the people that they like this place. I’ve been there twice now and will definitely go back again next year. Oh and we had a table and chairs outside and inside of our room too.

First the positives: Beautiful decor, lovely location, delicious food in the hotel's restaurant with spectacular views. Lovely spacious rooms with comfortable beds. Delightful cabaret during breakfast. These wonderful attributes were tempered by the downsides: free parking was advertised, but it consisted of having dedicated spaces on the street - all of which were occupied, and elusively located behind the hotel. Coming in from a 4 hour car ride at night up and down hilly, narrow, one way, bumpy cobblestone streets to an unfamiliar city without knowing where to park, and all spaces taken around the hotel, is disturbing and frustrating to a traveler; it led to an altercation with my travel companion about why I had to choose this particular hotel, as we circled the environs for street parking. As for the room, the shower not only did not have hot water, the water would only trickle in, and shut off by itself. This was reported to management, and I was informed that they had been working on this problem, and were under the impression it had been resolved. Sadly, it was not. Despite these marked shortcomings, the positives of the hotel outweighed the negatives, as its romantic luxurious splendor casts an enticing spell.... (water and parking issues aside)
