My mom and I met at Sunset Plaza for a girls getaway for 6 days with the goal of relaxing. No excursions just chilling out. Boutique hôtel with I think they said 80 rooms so it was not crazy overloaded. Grounds are meticulous. Beach is small and no chaise lounges there just lean back low to the ground chairs. Usually we’d hang at beach but instead headed to the pool each day. The ROOM: Room was amazing - beautiful huge deck looking out on the water (all the rooms have this), 2 BA and 2 closets, kitchen, tub in the room and great tv station options (Unlike other resorts we’ve been to) so we could watch the olympics easily. Only two small issues…quite a hard mattress for my liking though my mom was fine with it. And a couple of her showers didn’t have hot water (all mine were fine.). Yeh cleaning team kept the fridge stocked with our favorite beverages and did a turndown service each day and the rooms were VERY clean. The POOL: We hung at the adult pool each day and it was quiet and the beds were AWESOME!! Heading out around 9am would get you a bed without any trouble. The FOOD! The absolute best food I’ve had at an all inclusive resort ever. Getting resos for the restaurant was a quick call or stop to concierge around 9am each day. The one restaurant was Italian most days and one day/week French. We did 3-4 courses a night and all but one course the entire week was exceptional. French menu blew our minds! They have at least 2 different Italian menus so it kept it interesting. The other main restaurant that doesn’t require reservations had 4 different rotating menus (Mexican, Asian, Intl, etc). No buffet (thank goodness), everything is order from menus. Then they have a pizza place and a cafe that is open 24-7 with salads, paninis, pastries, bagels, desserts. Breakfasts from main restaurant were fabulous and we ordered lunch at the pool from our bed each day and everything made us happy - no duds. For perspective, I like to fine dine in any city I travel to and though I’m not a full on foodie, food matters to me on my trips. Was completely happy and impressed this week! The SPA: mom and I each had a 80 min hot stone massage one day which was amazing $98. Then another day we did the escape package. $135 for 80 min massage of choice, 50 min facial and 15 min full body scrub and moisturizer. Unbelievable amazing. Highly recommend Marina and Teresa. The PEOPLE were the absolute best! To a person everyone was helpful and happy. Mario, who handles the towels and makes rounds with books and cold wash clothes once a day was the most sunny lovely guy. He seems to know everyone’s name! Everyone at the front desk concierge area were great (thanks Nicolas). Every bartender and server were awesome even remembering your favorite drinks! It felt like a small community. KIDS: It looked like the kids center was cooler than most I’ve seen , but we literally saw maybe 5-7 kids and nine in the center. I didn’t have my kiddo with me, so we were looking for a place with little family stuff going on. This place was perfect. No screaming kids at the pool ever. COVID testing: super easy. Made reso for test when we checked in. No wait - took 5 mins. Doctor was great. Efficient process of getting email of result same evening and printed copy the next morning. There is construction of a new building right there but they did work on short stints. And I’d say except for one day, it really didn’t bother us. It does look like the construction will be going for many months more. Only thing we missed a little was shows in the evening. But if you’re looking for chill relaxing vacation, with great dining and spa, sunset plaza rocks. Love this place and will return.

The staff was amazing. Food is spectacular. So accommodating. We had 2 kids and they were so amazing with them. From special meals for the kids to making sure the little ones were having fun. Hilda and Mario and Crencio and Alfredo are super stars. Hilda and Crencio almost made me cry leaving feeling like I was leaving my family. Super Super Stars. Miguel the butler is fantastic we never touched our bag on the way in or the way out. Julio in the lobby bar is a star, friendly and makes amazing drinks. Overall the staff is amazing they will learn you’re name, make you feel special, and make sure you have a fantastic time. The rooms are beautiful and very clean. The protocols for our health and safety was amazing. The pool is clean and very comfortable. My highlight was every morning walking downstairs and doing my hellos with Mario miguel Crencio and “mi amiga” Hilda. I would always recommend this place to anyone, with kids, without, even with a gluten allergy having gluten free options at every angle. I will never forget this place and this is why we keep coming back. I will recommend to anyone come here please. You will not regret it!!

Came with my family and was blown away by the amazing view and incredibly friendly staff. The staff’s hospitality has been so welcoming especially the pool concierge, Mario. Mario and the rest of staff has really made it feel like a home away from home.

The hotel staff was phenomenal! Very courteous, helpful and oh how they were 'at your service!' Diego, Oscar, and Lorenzo provided immediate assistance with taxi's, room service and any additional resort/city inquiries as needed. Sunset Plaza also offers free daily onsite cooking classes with Angel, kayacking with Enrique, and an opportunity to put your art skills to the test, choosing from various types of pottery to paint, alongside their very skilled artist, Ruben!! While enjoying any of their 3 pools, you won't be thirsty as their servers, Luis and Saul keep you hydrated with most any drink requested, followed by their amazing pool bar lunch menu. Supper was a perfect end to each evening with a choice of either their Mirador Restaurant, Pizza Parlor, or my favorite, Luciano's Italian Kitchen. Luciano's serves a different menu each evening. Luis was the perfect host, asking the chef to create an off-the-menu dessert per our request for the next evening! Ismael and Martin also made our evenings so enjoyable! *The only reason I'm not rating the hotel a 5 is due to their neighboring resort, "Las Palmas" is extremely close by- At their pool, they have almost daily, someone on a microphone, yelling out contest activities, along with concert sound-level music heard much of the time with the pool crowd singing aloud. With the exception of the music, the resort is a great place for vacation.
