We enjoyed our stay at VallartaSol after the second evening. We had a second floor room with a balcony and kitchenette overlooking the pool. This is not the Ritz and if you can overlook slow source of hot water in shower or the occasional groan of water taps in bathroom sink, and slight rattling of A/C, it is worth staying. During our 10 full days, we managed to walk the neighbourhood and found many wonderful eating establishments within an eight block radius. The pool was great during mid afternoon when it wasn't basically empty. What we really appreciated is the day staff who on our last day allowed us to stay beyond check-out of 12:00 pm due to flight delay(s) not just once but twice until we finally left at 4:00 pm. We will definitely try and stay with them for any future short stay in PV.

I stayed at the Vallarta Sol for one night on 6/20/04. I made a reservation online the same day and had no problem. I did call ahead to let them know I would be arriving late, which was no problem.

Got to the hotel about midnight and was greeted by a friendly guy. My room was great--very large, stove, fridge, barstools, and very clean. AC worked great and it was quiet. Clean bathroom. Not much hot water in the shower, but that wasn't a big concern for me.

This hotel is a traditional, Mexican-style place, so it's probably not for those who want a resort experience. Nice pool area and interior courtyard. I was up early the next morning and the manager told me about buses and transportation, again very friendly. Be prepared to speak spanish at this hotel.

I would definitely return to this hotel. I wish I had more time to check out the pool and some of the surrounding area. This hotel is located on the main road in PV, and is not on the beach.

A great place to stay if you are looking for good value and a more Mexican-style experience.

Our Puerto Vallarta, Mexico trip 10/31/05 to 11/04/05. We took the Vallarta Sol day trip, which is a 6-8 hour, from hotel & back trip. Which includes an excellent ride around the bay of the mountains. All inclusive drinks, fruit, snacks... fun crew. First stop, rock formations in the water where you can snorkel thru the caves that are formed in them. The water is COLD year round in Puerto Vallarta, because it's the Pacific. It's in the same hemisphere as Hawaii. The water varies from dark blue, to dark green. We saw a giant manta ray from our table on the top deck. This is not like the water in the Carribean. It's not clear, and it's not warm, in MOST places. 2nd stop, a remote beach where we had lunch and swam. (You have to buy year alcohol when you're off the boat.) Water taxi's take you to the shore from the boat. 3rd & last stop, the horse back ride up the mountains where they filmed the waterfall scene in the movie Predator. We decided to 'hike' it down instead of taking our horses. We should have taken the horses... it's along way down, and your completely exhausted when you get to the beach. All in all, it's a great day trip for the money. We bought this trip for half-price from a guy selling it on the beach, instead of going thru the hotel. The whales start migrating around April. This would be a cool trip to take during that time. For the money you can't beat this trip. If your going for the snorkeling try a different trip. We heard from others that they were taken to several different beaches, and the snorkeling was good. The water is cold no matter where you go. =)

The vallartasol is a perfect place, except for one thing., screeming mexican kids! It seems these people do not disipline or hear them nor have any respect for other paying guests at the hotel,The hotel other than that is perfect. the staff, are all great, the rooms are cleaner than clean, everything works, linens changed everyday, the mattresses could be better, but we have had worse and the location is really convenient for the bus and for groceries,We love it. if they made it an all adult only hotel, they would probably be full all high season for sure.!

We were pleasantly surprised at how nice this place was for the price we paid for it. The rooms were kept super clean and the gorgeous pool area was constantly being manicured and cleaned. Most of the rooms have a pool view. Location is also excellent. Beach access across the street as well as a couple of massive department stores within walking distance. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a cheap trip.

The rooms are large, very clean, no bugs, 2 double beds with new/clean Sealy Orthopedic mattrasses, nice bathroom, excellent programmable air conditioning, free WiFi, 32’ flat screen TV with cable, (several U.S. channels, movies, CNN, etc) kitchenette, big closet, and real wood furniture. I’ve never stayed at a motel with a more friendly and accommodating staff than Hotel Vallartasol in Puerto Vallarta. Our economy room had a sliding glass door ten steps from the swimming pool which it faces, pool is nice size and child safe, (not deep), also has 3 massaging jets, water was very clean. Vallartasol is family oriented, also good for couples, absolutely zero sleazy people there, it’s safe and pleasant. Location is perfect, one block off the main highway, and short walk to restaurants, pharmacies, dentists/med clinics, shopping center and a Mega Market food store. Bus to Old Town is 50 cents from Vallartasol, about 10 minutes ride, taxis are dirt cheap too. All the grounds, rooms, and pool are cleaned well daily. It’s an excellent choice, quiet nights and mornings, free coffee and doughnuts from 9am to 1pm, or the $5 buffet breakfast is tasty with good and healthy selection. The office is open 24/7, all the staff was trustworthy and understands English well enough. My wife, child, and I, give it VERY high quality, VERY economical, 100 % two thumbs up! My post is genuine, I am from S.F., CA.

Being retired and wanting daytime quietness was almost impossible because it is a family hotel which the locals use. We found the pool cold, but using a laser thermometer one of the owners says it was 82f. NOT! The rooms were very well kept and the staff and owners treated us like gold. The location was great as it was half way between the Mega store and the Soriano store and mall.(great MacDonalds in the back). Yes, I would go back. Recommend it completely!!

This lovely little hotel is only a block off of the main highway, yet is amazingly quiet. A small friendly place at a good price. The location is within walking distance to all amenities and services and the beach is just a block away. Well equipped kitchenette, comfy beds and the doors opened out onto the pool and garden.

This hotel is old and could use an upgrade, but it is very very clean. The rooms are large and have a dining area as well as a fridge. The Mattress like most in Mexico was like a sheet of plywood. The pool and grounds areas are spotless and are very quiet at night and early morning, during the day it is filled with screaming kids, just like every pool on this planet. Our ground level room had a nice little balcony to relax on, while some rooms on the 2nd floor had large balconies. Avoid the rooms that face the front street, these are much louder. We had breakfast a few times in the lobby, it was geared more to the Mexican taste, but for less than 5 bucks you can have toast, fruit, eggs, coffee, yogurt, a good start to the day. There was always someone at the front desk to serve you and Security discreetly kept an eye on the hotel at all hours. The location is perfect for everything. Oxxo across the street, excellent coffee shop, roasted chicken, 2 strip clubs within walking distance for those that are inclined. $28.00US admission fee leaves me on the outside looking in. I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here
