I just returned from a 6 night stay at the Sheraton Buganvilias with my husband. We got a great deal on an all-inclusive package. Overall, it was a great value, as prices for resorts rebound. The location: As noted by many reviewers, the location of this resort is probably one of its greatest assets. It is about a 15 minute walk to the Malecon, but in July, it is a HOT walk, even early in the day. But its close proximity allows for quick, inexpensive taxi rides to the Malecon for dining and shopping. It is also a quick ride to/from the airport and taxis are easily accessible with a pricing board in the lobby, so no concerns of price gouging. The rooms: I had reserved a King ocean view room, and requested a quiet room with good A/C. We got a room on the 17th floor overlooking the ocean and pools. Instead of the King bed we reserved, we got 2 beds. When I inquired about getting a King room, the front desk said there were none available, but that I could check back the next day. After our first night, we ended up just staying in that room, as it was a hassle to change rooms. The room was spacious, modern, clean, and well-appointed. There are no balconies, but large windows that span floor to ceiling and offer expansive views of the ocean. The A/C worked well, which is of the utmost importance to us. I had read that the WiFi can be slow, but we had no problems with the free WiFi in our room. We did not upgrade to the faster connection. The beds were comfortable, and the shower was large with a waterfall shower head. The grounds/pool: The foliage on this property is mature and well-maintained, and gives a tropical feel. There are two pools at the property, one that had activities and a quieter pool with a hot tub in a little alcove accessed by a little bridge. The first 3 days we were at the resort were busier, and it was a challenge to find lounge chairs in desirable areas. And the lounge chair saving started early in the day. We would see towels on chairs that sat empty for hours. That was a bit of a frustration. The pools felt overly crowded on those days. After the crowds left after the third day, we didn’t have problems finding a lounge chair. There is pool service, but it was definitely hit or miss depending on which area you sat in. There were times we were never approached about whether we wanted a drink or anything to eat. That changed after we started sitting in Isabel’s section. She is incredibly hard working, and provided incredible service. She was prompt, friendly, and professional. She definitely deserves a raise. The beach: Many reviewers have commented that the beach is not the best, and this is true. The beach is rocky, and the rocks are painful to walk on and get extremely hot. Additionally, there is a lot of trash on the beach. Most resorts have staff that are constantly cleaning the beach, but the beach definitely seem to be overlooked and a bit neglected here. This is a shame, as the beach actually has great potential. The resort has installed rock barriers which make the water calm, and these barriers provide a great haven for fish. We snorkeled several days, and saw a great variety of fish including huge puffer fish, angel fish, blennies, and tangs. I did not anticipate the snorkeling to be that good, but was pleasantly surprised. Food/drinks: With the all-inclusive plan, you get breakfast at the buffet at La Villita. The service at the buffet is prompt and good, but our favorite here was Oliver. He was genuine and friendly and always greeted us every day when we came for breakfast. They do offer ala carte options at this restaurant, but it is not part of the all-inclusive. Breakfast got a bit monotonous, but breakfast, in general, can get that way. They had the standard breakfast foods, an omelette station, and crepe station. For lunch, there is the buffet, pool service, or a little al fresco restaurant by the pool that serves the same food as pool service. There was also a pizzeria that we never ate at, so I can’t comment on the food there. We usually ate at the buffet for lunch for convenience. At the pool, we had chicken wings, burgers, fries, and great guacamole. For dinner, the options are the buffet or a choice of 3 ala carte restaurants (Gaviatas, Bar Embercado, Italian, and Seafood). The Italian and seafood restaurant share the same dining area, so they alternate nights. These restaurants require reservations that have to be made each morning with the concierge, starting at 8:00 am. I am an early riser, so had no problems acquiring reservations at my preferred time and restaurant, but for those who wake later, this process may be more problematic. We tried Gaviatas, The Bar, and Italian restaurants. Gaviatas was our favorite, and we ended up eating there 3 times. It is the fancier restaurant, and the only one that has a dress code (no shorts or sandals). Children younger than 12 are restricted from dining here. The food is beautifully presented and delicious, and service is impeccable. I don’t drink alcohol and my husband only drinks occasionally. He would generally drink beer, but he did not really like the mixed drinks he got at the lobby bar. We would stay at the Sheraton in the future for the right price.

I am currently staying at the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort & Convention Center. I arrived 19 July 2021 and am leaving 30 July 2021. And I have to say that my experience thus far has been awful. I gave the front desk attendant my MasterCard and told him that I would like to pay for anything I might purchase immediately after I have ordered. The next day I noticed several charges from the hotel and surrounding areas that I did not approve nor did I purchase. The day after I noticed a $261.77 CAN charge on my MasterCard from a store I never went to as I have been in the hotel the entire time due to the fact that I cannot walk very far as I have a prosthetic leg. I immediately called my credit card company, canceled the card and started a fraud investigation.I also contacted the hotel manager/assistant manager and they were absolutely no help what so ever and in few works told me that it wouldn't have been one of their staff and that I was more than likely to blame for the hotel charges. While I was out of the room at the pool on the second day my room was not cleaned, I had no fresh towels for my third day and was out of the very little amount of coffee pods they provide. On my first night I ordered a pepperoni pizza to my room and when it arrived it was out of the fridge cold. I ordered a hamburger and fires on my second night to my room and again it was cold, greasy and disgusting so I refused to eat it. My booking includes breakfast and a 20% discount on all food in the hotel. The hotel has been charging me full price and ignoring the fact that I have a 20% discount. I am a Gold Elite member with Marriot which now owns the Sheraton and other hotels and I am being treated very poorly. I will not be returning to the Sheraton Puerto Vallarta ever again and I am also looking around ro switch hotels and end my stay early here. Quite honestly I am very very disappointed in the customer service, the food and the fact that my credit card info has been stolen and used around the city. On another note the room next to me was a family of 2 adults and 4 kids. They were loud and it sounded like a zoo in there room. When I brought this to management attention on the first day and asked to be moved they told me that the occupants in that room were leaving in a couple days and that there was nothing they could do about witching rooms.

Dear BraydenL, We appreciate the time that you have invested on writing an overview of your stay with us. There seems to have been a number of deficiencies encountered which are very atypical and not reflective of our brand experience; if this stay was marred by irregular circumstances, we can only renew our apologies and assure you that we have in the meantime briefed the team at great length of your comments. We appreciate your opinion and will take the appropriate corrective measures in order to achieve the complete satisfaction of guests and visitors. Puerto Vallarta, Mexico8 contributions
The Sheraton Resort is The premier resort to stay at while in Puerta Vallarta! My wife and I have been to Puerta Vallarta on six separate vacations and the Sheraton is by far the best location we have found. They have great amenities in the resort, with two pools, one much more quiet and laid back, volleyball, table tennis, nice beach access right out front. The restaurants were excellent, the Sunday brunch was the absolute best time, the employees were all very polite, helpful and able to speak English due to my very limited Spanish vocabulary. The resort is in a great location only about 1 mile North of the Melecon, which is a must see while in Puerta Vallarta. In the evenings we could walk the mile to the Melecon, or take the public bus for 10 pecos (about 50 cents) or take a cab for only a few dollars. Being this close to the Melecon without having the late night noise of down town is the best of both worlds. We always felt safe both on the resort and during our walks, bus rides, cab rides, in Puerta Vallarta, it is a very family friendly town to visit in Mexico. Since I am a very experienced Bon Voy member, we did have access to the concierge room which had daily appetizers, even mini meals at both breakfast and lunch. The view from the concierge room is amazing, if possible, be sure to see a sunset from that room. The staff was amazing in the concierge room, they were there to help and to serve and didn't miss a beat. We had the Junior suite on the top floor of the hotel and it was absolutely inspiring! My wife loved it so much so didn't want to leave the room. The bed was great, the sitting area overlooking the pool had a great viewpoint for the sunsets everyday. The shower, jacuzzi tub, and bathroom were more than I could have thought of and we enjoyed them daily.

This is a Beautiful Beach Front (All-Inclusive Option) Resort in the heart of the city. We had a Penthouse Suite, with a View of the Of Ocean and Pool, to kill for. It was a great time, by the pool, and the service at all of restaurants and buffets was great, especially by Joel Hrechisa and Luis.
