In the early 70's I began flying charters down to Puerto Vallarta. At that time PV was a small fishing village, not many tourists, and the landing area a dusty strip also doubling as a road.

Over the years I have watched PV grow into a tourist town, helping the economy and most importantly bring money in to the locals. During this time Rosita Hotel stood proud by the beach inviting tourists to enjoy a beautiful view, great food, perfect location at the northern part of Malecon.

This time I stayed in a Suite enjoying a beautiful view over the Bay. The rooms are bigger than you would expect, Slightly worn because of it's long history, the Rosita could use an update but then the Rosita would most likely loose it's charm. It makes up for it by being very clean. My suite came with a flat screen TV, large freezer/fridge and all the amenities needed to make a vacation enjoyable. The balcony was the right place to sit and enjoy my coffee first thing in the morning. The safe came in handy for passport and other valuables. The suite came with three beds, one of them being a king size and very comfortable. The elevator takes you down to the courtyard, lobby and restaurant. The food was very good and the service excellent.

A ten to fifteen minute early walk along the Malecon brings you downtown for a second cup of coffee and maybe breakfast. The stores are getting ready to open for business, and it's still too early to be crowded. This is my favorite time of the day to take a walk on the Malecon. Later on it will be crowded by tourists. Sunset is another time, when you can avoid the crowds, until the parties start downtown after dinner.

Rosita is a great base of operation because of it's close proximity to shopping and taxis. Pharmacies, stores and restaurants are all within walking distance. Since I do a lot of tours, sailing and horseback riding, using taxis is easy, since they are right outside the lobby. Make sure you know how much the ride should cost, before you take off. Some drivers try to charge you four to five times more than the going price.

For those of us who like to enjoy the great food at the hotel, happy hour starts in the afternoon, when you get two drinks for the price of one. The service was always fast, and I appreciate it, so I make a habit of tipping accordingly.

Since I fly down to PV at least twice a year, I definitely will stay at Rosita again and also recommend it to all my friends.

In conclusion I would like to extend my gratitude to a very professional and wonderful staff, who go out of their way to help you when needed.

My husband and I booked this place when a room we had originally reserved proved to be too far out of town (it was our first time in Puerto Vallarta). I saw an incredible special advertised rate on Trip Advisor and opted to jump on it. (I paid slightly more for an ocean view with a balcony).
Such a deal!
First off the location can't be beat! RIGHT at the start of the Malecon (boardwalk) so it's close to everything BUT not in the "thick" of the noise, disco and partiers. We were given a room on the first floor which was perfect.
The hotel took COVID very seriously, with temp checks and masks required in public areas.
Our room was simple (don't expect 5 star amenities) clean, with a good A/C and a huge, private balcony that looked out at the glorious sunsets! The bathroom had very nice (older) colorful Mexican ceramic tile and the room had a gigantic fridge with free help yourself bottled water in the hallway. A double windowed sliding glass door really blocked out the noise from the boardwalk (I am a very light sleeper). There was a smallish pool which was pretty packed in the afternoon but when I went one day at noon was totally empty. There are swimming beaches right outside of the hotel on both sides and wonderful shops/restaurants/attractions all around. In short, it's a great place to stay for a first timer who wants to see the typical things. The restaurant served a decent breakfast and had a happy hour. My husband and I are vegan and there weren't many vegan options on the menu, but there is a little coffee bar around the side of the hotel that opened at 7AM every day.
The staff was very nice, everyone! Also, because a negative PCR Covid test is currently required to fly back to the US, I talked to the front desk who arranged a health provider to come to the hotel the day before we were scheduled to fly out and administered the tests for $35 USD. We got the results in 4 hours both printed and emailed, so we were able to board our return flight. All in all, a wonderful stay!

Hotel Rosita is an excellent place to get a break from your confinement at home in these difficult times. They have the highest standards of safety from beginning to end. There is a check point at the entrance for you to clean your shoes, check your temperature and get some hand gel. Your luggage is sprayed with an antiviral product upon your arrival. Staff members wear a mask 100% of the time. At the restaurant there is plenty of distance between the tables, your cutlery comes in a paper bag and you can see the menu by scanning a QR code with your cell phone. The food is homey, delicious and quite affordable. The hotel has a distinctive colonial, Mexican style, beautifully decorated and very friendly and quiet. The location couldn't be better, as it is in the very heart of Puerto Vallarta. I strongly recommend spending a few days here if you want to get a break and fill your spirit with positive thoughts inspired by the breeze and the rocking sound of the sea waves!

This hotel is right at the start of the malecon so you cannot best the location. Our room and bathroom were small. Very small. But it turns out it was okay. Just enough room to do what needed to get done. We did have a great view but no true balcony which was a shame. Couple things as a heads up. No soap holder in shower ( will bring a suction one next time ) and no blow dryer. I was okay with either and managed but just an FYI. There was no fridge but we managed to snag a styrofoam one at the Oxxo so that worked out well. As for the malecon we found if you stayed away from the chain restaurants it was pretty cheap to eat. And we walked to everything. And if you need a taxi they are readily available and always about $5 US.
Our room was always super clean. Done by the time we got back to the room no matter what time that was. The restaurant was good, convenient and very reasonably priced. The pool was good. Never really busy. No hustle for the chairs. Overall we were very pleased with Hotel Rosita. We highly recommend it ( just be willing to roll with some things) and would not hesitate to come back again. Also the wi-fi was included and worked bette than most resorts we have been to.

Hotel Rosita is a really cool place with a fun history. It could not be better located for exploring PV. It is a basic, 3-star hotel, so it's not a luxury resort. My double room came equipped with functioning A/C, functioning electronic safe, a mid-sized refrigerator, and a killer view of Banderas Bay! The hotel staff was friendly and everyone appeared to be following Covid-prevention guidelines (temp taken at entrance, sanitizer for hands and shoes at the entrance, staff wearing masks in all areas). Pool area was set up to encourage proper distancing. Everything was super clean and I felt safe on this solo visit. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

Yes, it’s the oldest hotel in Puerto Vallarta, but there’s nowhere I’d rather stay. Rooms are adorable and very clean, you can’t beat the location and excellent food at the restaurant.
That is all great but the main thing that keeps us coming back is the impeccable customer service. Every year I work with Iris to secure our reservations and she is so accommodating when I need to change dates (which happens more than I’d like). The front desk staff is welcoming and helpful always and the servers in the restaurant always have a smile for you.
And this year they held high standards with COVID protocol, hand sanitizing stations, all staff masked up and they ensured the guests follows the same rules.
See you next year ❤️❤️❤️.

The hotel is situated in an ideal place to explore the area. The hotel is a bit dated, but the entrance is quite lovely and open air. Included breakfast was toast, juice, fruit and coffee. Full breakfasts are available for reasonable prices. Service was good.

Pool area very clean, only problems were the 'humans' who insisted day after day placing their towels and books on lounge chairs to mark them as theirs and friends and then left for hours, seriously hours, every day. If they had parking meters that people had to put money in at each chair, that might help.
Housekeeping very good, always clean.

Second time staying at Rosita. This time for 1 week! Perfect location to experience the Malecon. Excellent job controlling access to the hotel. Every entry requires temperature, sanitizer and confirmation of room number. All staff are welcoming and helpful, super clean, daily happy hour and perfectly maintained pool. Highly recommended as it consistently delivers above its price range.

As one of the oldest hotels in Puerta Vallarta, the Rosita was very charming. Located at the beginning of the Malecon, stores, clubs, restaurants are moments away. The hotel is right on the beach. The hotel is a bit dated, but the rooms are comfortable and clean. My only suggestion would be a microwave in the room. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip back. Staff was excellent. All COVID precautions where in place. Checked your temperature upon entering the hotel, hand sanitizer everywhere, they also sanitized your luggage upon arrival. I can’t believe the negative reviews posted. I didn’t see or feel any of the negative comments.

Not sure about policy, but I am sure that staff could respond. Also, be aware that the pool is not large, and is frequented by many of the families that use the hotel. I used the beach next door.

I am not sure. There may be rooms with balconies on the side in which you can look towards the ocean but also elsewhere. I know there are some less desirable rooms where there is a mini type balcony where you can look out, look sideways, but not really "go out" there. You could write Rosita and ask. Definitely, ocean front with a balcony is the way to go....but not available.
