Hotel Posada de Roger is celebrated for its authentic Mexican charm and prime location in the heart of Zona Romantica, close to the beach and numerous dining venues. Guests commend the hotel's cleanliness and the friendly, attentive staff. While the rooms are praised for being tidy, some visitors find them on the smaller side and suggest updates to decor and soundproofing. The common areas win over guests with their aesthetic appeal, and although some mention the basic amenities, the overall value is appreciated for the affordable pricing.

This is a very nice hotel I have stayed at a few times. Family run and all of the staff are super friendly. The hotel looks like a small forest with a flower garden through it. Not a five star hotel by any means. However, due to the caring staff and the amazing grounds it is a lovely property that I would recommend.

It hard not to love Posada de Roger unless you get a first floor inside room. These are dark and musty and should be avoided. After one night I was ready to move out until I asked at the front desk for another room. The desk staff were so friendly and helpful!
They managed to find me a room on the third floor and then I began to understand how easy it is to fall in love with Posada de Roger. The upstairs room was bright and roomy. The maids keep the place really clean. I never used the pool myself but there is one. There are multiple water containers in the stairwells so that you can fill your own bottles. The best part was the top floor kitchen. It's such a great thing to have! I was able to save a little money on breakfast and it was nice to be able to keep leftovers there as well. Not to mention that it was a great way to meet other travellers.
I was there during the time of Covid and my plans kept changing. I was supposed to stay a certain number of days but I. kept extended my stay as it seemed prudent to stay put. I have to say there was a feeling of being 'home' at the Posada and that was due to the staff.
All in all I really enjoyed my experience at Posada de Roger. I hope everyone there is well and surviving with the shut down of the tourism. I will definitely return!

This was my first trip in 2 years. I was prepared to travel alone and searched for a location that gave me, a solo traveler the mobility to get around, safety, and most importantly a good night sleep. Hotel Posada de Roger gave me this plus so much more. Located right on Basilio Badillo in the Zona de Romantico gave me exactly what I needed. Walking through their entrance, you are met by reception and guests who are relaxing in the garden filled with flowers, plants and chairs for your enjoyment. Check-in was swift, my room was ready for me on the sunny third floor. It is a walk up. No worries if you are unable to carry your suitcase, the staff happily assist. My room is quaint, with a walk in shower, consistent hot water, a place to spread out your toiletries, o need to crowd up your bathroom sink platform, you will find room for everything. If you are looking for luxury accommodations you may need to reconsider your needs. I love everything everything about this hotel. It is design in good taste, the bed was quite comfortable, the ac worked fine for those warm days and at night keeping my window ajar kept me quite comfortable throughout the night.
Everyday, I met someone who has made this hotel their home away from home. They have stayed here year after year for weeks at a time. I seen exactly the attraction that has guests committed to returning. I will become one as well. So before making your reservation, rethink of why you are visiting Puerto Vallarta. The beach is less than a 10 min walk away. I say this because the walk to the beach is quite easy, no hills, but you may be distracted, stopping to say hello to strangers, a need for coffee or a fulfilling breakfast is right outside their door. I hope you stay here or if not come by while you are in town and say hello.

From the moment I’m greeted to the time of checkout the staff at the hotel make me feel like family. Rosy is usually at the desk as I usually check in later in the day. The Martha’s in housekeeping take care of my room and even leave towel sculptures sometimes for a special treat. The in house restaurant Freddy’s Toucan is the same way. I am always met with warmth and welcome and the food is plentiful and good. I wholeheartedly recommend the Posada deRoger to all. Their slogan is “everyone welcome” and they mean it🌞

Excellent helpful & friendly staff. Safe and very appealing setting, beautiful ground level and 3rd floor patios, and small but decent pool. Use of the common kitchen was great, having large fridge, stove, microwave, with glassware, dinnerware, cookware available in a peaceful space with very nice view. I also rented a mini-fridge for my room, extra $5/night, was definitely worth it for me. Plenty of purified water available at no charge, they even have pitchers to refill and bring to the room - it was nice that I could make coffee/tea in the kitchen each day. Lots of tv channels, about half in English. But only one news channel... um, Fox. Satellite TV and wifi worked fine the vast majority of the time of my stay. Some noise in the morning from the street and hotel common area, which is somewhat to be expected. The front desk was able to arrange a very quick & convenient covid test right there on site for US $30 - required for flights back to the US. The hotel is extremely close to everything I was looking for: beach, Malecon, restaurant, bars, cafes, wide variety of markets. Very charming "old town" location, but also quite a bustling & lively scene right outside the entrance... maybe not everyone's preference but I enjoyed it. Once again, the front desk and cleaning staff were outstanding for the duration of my 9 days there, I would definitely stay there again if I go back to PV.

this hotel not designed for anyone with ortho problems above the first floor (no elevator). No central water filter (used water pitcher for drinking and brushing). No desk to write. My room had a major step to get in and out of the bathroom. Still would stay here again overall a good experience.

We really enjoyed our stay at Posada de Roger. The property is charming, immaculately clean, staff is friendly, and the location can’t be beat. They didn’t bat an eye at our early check-in, and were happy to accommodate our luggage to give us more time to spend on the beach when we left. There’s even a place to get cleaned up before heading to the airport.

Hot water was ample, the beds were large by Mexican standards (if a bit firm), and the AC and ceiling fans kept everything comfortable. The only challenge was the hotel WiFi, which was a bit dodgy. Rooms also don’t include a fridge, but there’s a community kitchen to use if you’d prefer.

It’s hard to beat this hotel in terms of amenity and price, particularly considering its location. If you want an urban-set, old-school Mexican hotel in the Zona Romantica, this is definitely one to keep on your list.

This is our second stay at the hotel, and we would stay again. The only reason for a 4/5 rating is the beds and pillows could use an update, comfortable enough (on both our stays in different rooms).
The hotel does have old world mexican charm, if you like new and modern this is not the place for you. We love the location downtown as it is close to the beach, close to many great restaurants and bars which means we could walk everywhere. There is noise from the downtown activity particularly on weekends, if this is a concern bring ear plugs.
The staff are friendly and always hard at work keeping the common areas clean and well maintained. During our stay the pool area was clean and offered a refreshing place to cool off with the breeze that often made its way through.
The room had newer windows, good air conditioner plus a ceiling fan. The TV had a great selection of both spanish and english channels (better than other hotels we have stayed at in PV). There was enough wardrobe and hanging space for our clothes.
We had a late flight home and were able to store our luggage, have use of the hotel common areas and a public guest washroom.

The location is excellent if you want convenience and proximity to restaurants, sights and in the heart of cobblestones, tiled roofs and old Mexico. However, I would bump up to a 4 star hotel should I ever return. I can rough it when traveling, but given the off season prices, I would prefer better accommodations. The hotel was clean and air conditioned. but the bathrooms could use some upgrading and renovations. I don't mind peeling paint or shipped tiles. The toilet was new but the drains in both shower and basin could use a catcher. There was occasional odor coming up from the drainage pipe. So, depending on high or low season prices, I would say that this is a good value. I was there at the beginning of high season, so the prices were very low. So if I were to do again, I would choose a more expensive hotel in the same area with more updated bathrooms. The trade off would be I would lose the local flavor for a standard hotel.

Pros:
Convenient location - walking distance from the beach and Malecon, plus food and shopping and markets right at your door.
Pool
Beautiful courtyard
Unique charm - I liked it

Cons:
I’m not a hotel snob but I didn’t feel clean in the shower. Housekeeping was great but rooms just need some updating. Rust and broken tile etc. hair in the drain. Towels with holes in them. I just wasn’t keen on that but I know the room was cleaned daily!

They require a $200 pesos deposit for pool towels. I didn’t have cash on me so I didn’t get any which was a little disappointing.

Bad Wi-Fi.
