Detailed Reviews
We decided to spend our last night here before leaving for the UK, and as we had stayed at some amazing places whilst travelling through Namibia, the bar was set high!
On turning off the main road to reach Gocheganas, it seemed like a very long, never ending roller coaster of a gravel path (made worse by the recent rains) in our little Polo and before we made it to the first gate. It was clear that we were climbing quite high, but by the time we reached the Lodge (you park just a little down the hill and get picked up for the last bit). it was all forgotten by the stunning location and views of where we were to stay. We were allocated room/roundel no.1 and it was a fabulous huge space, with an outside terrace & loungers overlooking the surrounding mountains, a giant bath (next to the window with views) and shower room,. . . .plus, we were just in time for complimentary tea & chocolate cake in the restaurant, which was perfect as it just happened to be my birthday!!
The lodge offered game drives, but as we had already done quite a few very successful ones, we decided to just stay put and enjoy the facilities, ie the inside pool, filled with natural mineral water & so lovely & warm, the outside pool is perfect for cooling off & sunbathing with more beautiful views.
The Wellness Spa offers a number of treatments, massages, facials, manicure/pedicures at a reasonable price, although I went for the Indian head massage, which wasn't quite as relaxing as I had hoped and was quite rough! Staff were all charming, service was attentive. Dinner served that night was simple but delicious (Oryx steak) with the added bonus of an amazing African orange sunset. We weren't able to get a late checkout the next morning (we had a late evening flight), but we were able to use all the facilities until we were ready to leave. A wonderful and very special stay which I would highly recommend!

The reserve is just amazing! We’ve got a large cabin, very private, well equipped with all the facilities you can ask for. The service was very good!
However there were few little things that disappointed us - broken chair in the room, torn towels and robes. The personal was very attentive and replaced everything,
But we really didn’t expected to see something like that in this kind of place.
The morning safari tour was just great!! Johnny made huge efforts so we can see the rhinos ( and drink coffee just next to them!!)
Hope to be back!

Really enjoyed our stay. The location is surreal, and even better than advertised. Breakfast and dinner was delicious and the wellness area also has everything you would want. Most of the staff were very friendly and gave their best.
A few minor things: When holding a serious staff meeting, it would be better to do this behind closed doors, or in another location away from the ears of your guests.
The design of the windows in the rooms could be optimized. The middle wooden bar restricts the view when sat in the chairs, which is a real shame. Please see last 2 attached pictures.
I would definitely recommend coming here!

We have been to GocheGanas many, many times and it is à lways excellent !
This time was really èxtra special and as return guests we were spoilt rotten !!!!
Not many lodges in Namibia treat and value return guests the way GocheGanas does ! This one of the many reasons why this lodge will à lways be a favourite with us .
When we were there the weekend of 24-27 March with our children and grandkids (aged 11-14), it was my husband’s birthday . They surprised us with the most beautifully decorated table, a black forrest cake baked specially for him and the staff singing for him !!
Our teenage grandkids lòve GocheGanas !! The inside à nd outside swimmingpools, sauna and gym are all very popular with them !
The beautiful setting of the lodge high on a hill allows à ll chalets to have spectacular views .
The chalets are spacious and luxurious, with wonderfully comfy beds and good quality linnen.
The outside patios are perfect for relaxing, reading or just looking and looking ……
Wild animals like waterbuck and kudu often come close to the chalets . And most nights you will be treated to the call of jackal !
Staff, service and food are also top notch !
Gamedrives, lovely walkingtrails and a most beautiful spa complete the package .
Thank you and hats off to all the staff and managers Jacky and Zelda .
GocheGanas : a GEM in à ll respects !

We stayed here on a weekend as a birthday treat to a friend by his family. The highlight of the afternoon tea/coffee was the most delicious blueberry cake I'd ever tasted. The food (overall) was really good.
The chalet/room we had (number 8) was in my opinion the best in the lodge. I woke up to the views of the most amazing sunrise. At that same time I saw giraffes a fair distance off.
I don't know much about spa treatments because I barely do those but full body massage I received was so relaxing. The 1 hour felt like 15 minutes.
We finished off the afternoon with a game-drive with the highly-knowledgeable Eric. A great weekend overall.
The lodge went the extra mile and baked a beautiful chocolate cake for my friend's birthday. A really nice touch.

It is difficult to know where to start, because the views that I share are based on experiences that I have had at many other lodges throughout Southern Africa….so if this is your first time, you will go away very happy…if you have been to others of similar pricing and positioning, you may leave a but disappointed….
The lodge itself is beautifully located around 30 mts from Windhoek and is really a wonderful collection of small accommodation units and a central building with a sensational pool both indoor and outdoor. The food is good, and more than enough….
And now to the details. I ordered breakfast with sausage and get bacon instead. I order a bottle of Shiraz and they bring a Syrah instead. The breakfast items that are emptied are not replaced.
And the game drive - it needs more attention. A good driver knows where to stop not only for a good view but also reasonable pictures for the light - they do not continue to drive and refuse to stop ….or drive to a tight schedule and complain the sun is going down and races to the pre set sundowner stop. They share experiences not only about the animals but also about the flora and fauna - they should share their „passion“ for the wilderness. The sundowner should be more than a table with 4 types of drinks slumped on top and packets of peanuts and Mexican chili chips. Where is the Biltong?…..the game drive is a key piece of a lodge, can be better levered.
To be fair when this was discussed with the lodge my disappointment was noted and well handled, so I hope my comments will result in improvements….

My fiancé, and I absolutely loved our stay. The service was outstanding, the food was amazing, absolutely wonderful amenities, especially the heated pool and the massage services. The game that the property takes you on is so beautiful and peaceful and fun the views from our chalet are unprecedented, and the privacy that you get is worth every penny that you pay, I would’ve loved to of stayed more than two days but I’m planning a trip back. I cannot say enough positive things about our stay. It was just absolutely wonderful.

Great location on hill top allowing observation of wildlife all around. Unique design of chalets. Hotel had issue with electrical power supply and needed to run the diesel generator located next to the pool during two afternoons which made the use of the pool terrace very uncomfortable due to noise and exhaust fumes.

After our first wonderful stay 3 yrs ago, we returned again in January, and, I just want to say that everything was just as amazing as I wrote then, and even better, because this time I had the BEST massage of my life. God bless Elly!!
Gocheganas is MAGIC.
It combines luxury - the bungalows are huge and luxuriously furnished, amazing views, good food, bar with the best 360 degree panoramic view, outside swimming pool, inside pool - such bliss, best spa ever and wildlife at your doorstep.
Now what can beat that? It really could not be any better!!

We stayed already many times at GocheGanas and every time we experienced an unforgettable stay. The whole staff is very friendly, caring and attentive. With Daniel we had outstanding nature drives. He explained us the the wildlife in a professionell way, explained us all the tracks and we learned a lot. We had many safari drives with Daniel and every time Daniel showed us something new. His driving skills are excellent and we always felt safe. We are looking forward to our next stay at the beautiful GocheGanas Nature Reserve.

All solved after reaching out via FB Messenger. Thanks GG team!
communication problems probably are spam filter or technical issue related, so finding alternate contact methods seems the answer.
