The place is definitely value for money. It is graded 1 star but I can definitely add another star😍. Rooms, bedding and towels were clean. If you are in the area and need something cheap especially if you book in person, it's far cheaper. Word of advice though. Maybe to consider putting something like a "door shoot" on the inside not only for extra safety but also to stop the door from making those banging noise when it is windy. Also consider putting an extra geyser in the bigger compound so that a few rooms can share hot water. We had a cold shower as we woke up when a few people already had a shower. Signage to direct patrons can also be improved. It's difficult to find the place especially at night. GPS gets "disoriented" around the area. Overall, given where it is located and the fact that there isn't much you can find around, the price you pay onsite is definitely worthwhile. The problems are very minor compared to cost. I would not hesitate to visit again if I am in the area again.…
We returned to visit our hostess at the Steenbok Guest House as promised on this trip to South Africa. I was amazed that after writing my previous review for the guest house, other international visitors have come to stay here. Martha and family do a good job making people feel comfortable and we appreciate it. If you really want to know the culture of South Africa I encourage you to come and stay in the community. Granted it is off the beaten path, but it is safe to walk the streets here. You will feel like part of the family and community here. On this visit, we spent more time with Martha and her daughter Joy and came away with a much more understanding about the South African culture. I encourage you to stay here as the reason to travel to far away destinations is to learn about other cultures. You will definitely come away with a better understanding of the world and the people who live on this planet.…
If you are looking for a South African cultural experience and meet the real people look no further. This guesthouse is located in a rural village off the beaten path near the Crocodile Bridge Gate of Kruger. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was nice, clean, spaciest, with cable and AC. The setting is quiet and peaceful. The rates are reasonable. We were told that we are only the 2nd Americans that stayed here. I don't know why,the area is safe and people are friendly. Martha and her family are wonderful hostess. Friendly and helpful. Engage in a conversation with Martha or any of her staff and you will feel like you are part of the family and community. They will ask you what time you want your meals and will have them ready for you at the appointed time. The only draw back is there is no internet, but there is no internet or it is slow in many parts of rural South Africa so it did not make a difference. We will definitely stay here again if our travels brings us back to Kruger.…
