The atmosphere is described as lively, with music and celebrations frequently enhancing guest experiences. The staff's attentiveness and friendliness are regularly highlighted, adding to the charm of the hotel. We attended the annual Christmas party at Leeford, we have been before but I must say that this time it was such a lovely night; there was a proper christmasy atmosphere.
Meal was a set meal but plenty of choice & not overpriced, drinks were reasonably priced thus making an enjoyable & not expensive evening.
Staff were polite & friendly as they always are, room was clean & comfortable.

Sadly had our last Bi- annual meeting and training day event at this lovely hotel due to it being sold. A good two days was had by all though with the added bonus of a School Prom taking place on our first night. The smartly dressed Pupils arrived by various modes of transport and were treated to a disco in the function room along with a very nice looking buffet. A good night was certainly had by all. As usual, the staff were very attentive and friendly to everyone even though they were very busy; nothing was too much trouble. As always, a lovely stay in a lovely comfy room - Leeford Place we’re going to miss you for sure!

Had 2 nights here with friends - a great time had by all. Our executive room overlooked the stunning grounds and gardens - a very tranquil setting. Staff were very friendly and accommodating and made us feel very welcome. Face masks were encouraged and sanitiser readily available which gave us the comfort that we were within a COVID safe environment. A very pleasant stay - will definitely be back.

We were very disappointed with this venue, especially since the Trip Advisor reviews seem to be so good. For a start, it is very tired and the rooms need some work. The bathroom floor especially was disgustingly dirty. Cheap toiletries and cheap loo roll. The wifi kept dropping out and completely went off for quite some time at one point. Before any comments are made that if we had spoken to staff these things would have been addressed, what staff? You were running all over the place with the event that was on and every time I went to reception there was no one there and I’m sure you wouldn’t have had time to come and clean a floor when you were trying to manage an event. We felt for the staff, as there was definitely a lack of them and those that were there were overworked. The breakfast was cheap and not good. Toast, English breakfast and cereal. Where is the fruit, yoghurt and pastries for those that don’t want a cooked breakfast and want a more healthier option. There was not even a choice or a menu so if this was available, we were never told. This venue needs a lot of work and needs bringing up to standard. Its like it’s 20 years in the past and not been touched since.

Response from Nicola Reynolds, General Manager at Leeford Place Hotel

We are very disappointed to read your review. We are a 2*hotel and our prices reflect that. 4* hotels in this area are at least 30% more expensive. We understand that you had tried to book a 4* hotel, but that they were fully booked. We informed you in advance that we had a private function taking place and you were advised to cancel your room if you were expecting a quiet night away with dinner etc. Our breakfast has never included yoghurts, fruit and pastries and is not advertised as anything more. It includes; full English (or variations thereof), fruit juice, cereal, toast, jam and unlimited tea and coffee. Guests do ask for variations on the full English and we accommodate this on request. If any of our guests have problems in their rooms, we will always find the time to rectify their issues. None of your complaints were mentioned during your stay or when you checked out. If you needed to contact a member of staff when there was no-one at reception, the duty manager’s telephone number is clearly displayed on the reception desk, next to the telephone for your convenience.

Never again. This hotel is tired and very neglected by the current owners. It has been sold to a boarding school and not fit for purpose as a hotel for paying guests. Our standard room had mould around the dirty window. A hole in the wall and cobwebs + spider around the TV. To be fair, the bed and linen were clean. We only wanted a bed for the night as we had been to the theatre at Bexhill so we didn't 'make a fuss' about the poor state of the room. However, there was an unacceptable level of noise coming from accommodation (the General Manager confirmed later this was staff accommodation). Loud music, singing and people running along corridors and up and down stairs. At 1 am we left as there was no way we could sleep.
We contacted the hotel and were told they would not refund as they were not given the chance to change our room. We were beyond staying at that time !
Poor quality. Poor customer service and inaccurate marketing. I hope this review will save others from an expensive, disappointing experience.

Thank you for your review, I spoke to you on the telephone to discuss your stay with us after receiving your emails and I reiterated to you that we had not been contacted by yourselves to rectify the situation or talk through your issues at the time, before you decided to leave. If you thought that the hotel and indeed your room was not to an acceptable standard, then I do not understand why you did not let your feelings known once you had checked in. In fact, in your initial email to me you stated “the room was fine” but in your review you said that the room was in a poor state. We are a 2* hotel and our rooms may not be to a 5* décor standard, but we are clean and each room has everything needed for a good night’s stay. We checked with other guests who stayed that night in neighbouring rooms and no one was disturbed by any noise. Our customer service is prompt and efficient, which is not only reflected in our previous reviews, but you yourselves agreed that our communication with you was prompt and welcomed. However, I suspect that as we did not refund your room (due to the fact that we were not given the opportunity to resolve the situation) you felt it necessary to leave a poor review.

We had our wedding here one week ago today! Our day was perfect and all went to plan. Everyone has commented on how lovely the wedding breakfast food was and all served hot. The venue was decorated beautifully, was just the right size and the weather held off for some lovely photos outside. The DJ was open to playlists, but we just let him gage the room and we had dancers going all night! Niki was great from start to end of the planning, making sure on we were on track and helping with any worries we had. Walter and Kiera was there to support and guide us on the big day and reassured us at every step. Leeford place venue for a wedding was perfect, the package was very good and easy to plan. Cannot thank the team enough, we’re all friendly and passionate about making your big day special.

This was the venue for a family wedding

All the staff were lovely, attentive without being intrusive and more than happy to accommodate every request from the wedding guests and those of us that stopped over.

A well-maintained venue with lots of room to circulate and quiet 'corners' for when/if it all became a little too much.

Highly recommended 🌞

Fabulous country hotel, centrally located, set within the most beautiful grounds.

My first hotel stay in the UK since the beginning of the pandemic and pleased to see that they have all of the necessary precautions in place to guarantee a safe stay.

Stayed in a twin room, overlooking a small terrraced area. Room was clean and had all the necessary essentials (toiletries, towels, tea/coffee facilities and biscuits) The bed was exceptionally comfy and made with clean crisp lining.

Modern bathroom - the power and size of the shower was a real plus, strong water pressure!

Breakfast served on both mornings to include drink, cereal and cooked breakfast (pre-ordered the night before and freshly cooked in the morning)
Great selection of food, including gluten free.
We was looked after by Nicky who cooked and served breakfast in sync with other (socially distanced) tables.

Both evenings we had drinks in the bar, served by Eve - who catered for our every need. It was extremely hot and she ensured that drinks were super chilled with lots of ice.

Well stocked bar with a comprehensive gin selection.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the area or have a quiet break away from home.

Both Nicky and Eve are a real asset to this hotel, ensuring that your stay is extra special and every request is met.

I look forward to my second visit.

We had a really lovely evening with friends and family as guests at a party. The staff were very attentive and friendly; nothing was too much trouble. The function room was elegantly decorated and the DJ played a good selection of music, which had people up singing and dancing. The food was amazing and the drink plentiful - loved the miniature bottles of prosecco. A great party atmosphere, meaning a good time was had by all.

We had a family weekend break away at Leeford Place staying Friday to Sunday. The rooms were very clean and child friendly. The staff were exceptional, we were given a great service and were made to feel so welcome. We had breakfast both mornings which was all freshly cooked and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be returning and recommending Ledford Place to friends!

Hi, Sorry for the delayed answer. This may be of help to future questions of the same nature. Yes we are only 10 minutes away from Powdermills and have a lot of guests who stay whilst attending events there. As mentioned by another reviewer we would definitely recommend pre booking transport.
