Mbizane is a private nature conservancy straddling the Lowveld escarpment in the highest reaches of the Schoemanskloof Valley, Mpumalanga. Mbizane’s boundaries are its natural features - its rivers, cliffs and ravines, its dense vegetation and the surrounding nature reserves. The extraordinary beauty of Mbizane’s cliffs and of the escarpment ensured Mbizane’s inclusion on the Register of Natural Heritage Sites, for having “highly significant natural features and objects, and to be essential to the preservation of South Africa’s natural diversity.” Experience living at Mbizane inside the heart of nature, on the bank of a pristine cold mountain stream in a virgin riverine forest, dwarfed by the vertical cliffs above. Enjoy all-round magnificent views of the surrounding cliffs, hear the variety of bird calls echoing off the cliffs above the cobbling of the stream, and marvel at the beauty of the nature surrounding you from the privacy and comfort of your forested luxury tent deck.

Words cannot describe how absolutely breathtaking this place is! The tented room and dining area were unbelievably gorgeous, and our hikes during the day were magical. Zunette and Armand who run the lodge became like family and nothing was too much to ask. They are such an asset to the lodge and do a remarkable job. We had the most incredible food for breakfast every morning and the pizzas and cheese platters during the day were world class. The housekeeping staff were incredible and turned the room around in record time, and everyone just had such a smile on their face and it really was the best holiday just to relax and recharge in total comfort. One of the best hidden gems in this country. Thank you to everyone, we will be making an annual trip so see you all soon! ❤️

Exceptional and serene place in ultimate luxury! The tents are 5 star in every way and has become an absolute favourite for us. We are planning our 3rd trip this year! Scarp face drive as well as short stream hike are a must.

Carmen is a fantastic host always and entertained our kids for a few hours on our last trip. And unbeatable as a retreat for a couple to take time out.

I don’t think photos will ever do this jewel any justice ever.
The accommodation is very luxurious and the attention to detail is exceptional. The “tents” are extremely spacious. I also liked the fact that I felt alone in the bush at my tent.
The restaurant is such a cool place to meet and spend time with friends. Excellent vibe and good food.
You have to make sure you get some of the pizza!
