Stayed here for two nights as a stop on a road trip. Had a Loch view room which offered the most magnificant view of Loch Ness and the hills on the far side shoreline. Room was clean and spacious with a nice shower room. On site evening dining was excellent and over the two nights we enjoyed Game Terrine with a Plum Jam, Cullen Skink, Roulade of Chicken with Dauphinoise Potatoes, Battered Haddock with Chips, Trio of Prok and a chef’s daily special of Baked Haddock with Scallops and a Crab Sauce. Breakfast was good but was not of the same high standard as the evning dining. Free on site parking and really friendly and professional staff. Thank you.

Had booked a Loch View room with balcony. The hotel looked tired and uncared for from outside. Our room was probably the worst we had ever stayed in. The one plus was that it was clean and had recently been painted. The sink was in the corner of the bedroom and was only big enough to fit one hand in. The shower cubicle was as small as one in a touring caravan. This and the toilet were in a cupboard like space. There was no wardrobe and nowhere at all to hang anything - not even a hook on the back of a door. The balcony was filthy as if it had never been swept. The balcony table had not been cleaned. The hotel staff were all very nice indeed. Service was good in the restaurant although the food choice was limited and the burgers we chose quite dry. The setting for the restaurant was very pleasant and it had recently been refurbished. Overall a very disappointing experience.

We stayed over a long weekend in September and noticed the following. Pros: Nice view of the Loch from the dining room. Free parking A short walk to the boat if you want to take a cruise A well stocked gift shop, although not open in the evening An ice cream stand is in reception during the day but it closes at 5 Cons; Limited access for people with mobility concerns or with suitcases There is one slow lift that goes up to reception which has a sign stating for disabled only. After that, enjoy the stairs. Not a great welcome. This hotel is not suitable for children, the average age of guests all weekend was over 60, the other reason I will come to shortly The bed in our room was very soft. Pillows were very thin. We found ourselves rolling together or off the mattress! The water in the taps was scalding hot. I burnt myself. The shower dial fell off when it was turned on leaving scalding hot water running and no way to turn it off without putting your hand into the water. Pretty upsetting experience and a major Health and Safety concern. Public bathrooms have signs warning about the hot water - you don't want your children anywhere near these taps! The toilet was old with a massive water rank that flushed very slowly. It took ages to fill up. Not good if you have to use it during the night! The fire alarm went off at 8am on Sunday morning, the hotel guests had to evacuate. It was a false alarm. The food in the restaurant is massively over priced and pretentious with no alternatives if you just want a straight forward meal. Inattentive restaurant staff - we tried many times to order drinks and were ignored ( it wasn't busy) The kettle was full of floating bits of limescale. Ugh!
