We stayed here recently . Our room was spacious. Evening meal was extremely well presented and very tasty. Breakfast service was very slick but the server was quite frugal when eking out his bacon etc etc. We walked the grounds on the evening and it really is a fabulous place to visit.
Stunningly beautiful hotel with equally stunning and extensive grounds which are well worth exploring. Also, explore the actual hotel if you have time. Some of the rooms are magnificent and the library is amazing. Our bedroom, it’s safe to say, was on the small side and surprisingly nothing to write home about, apart from the view of the grounds from the window. The bathroom was also rather small with a cramped shower unit. The breakfast was good and plentiful. All in all a good place to stay with lovely gardens to explore but the bedrooms seem be on the cozy side.
The outside and the main areas within the hotel are lovely but we were a bit disappointed by our room. The room size was adequate but it was a hot summer’s night and the room did not have any air conditioning just a small portable fan which was broken. The bin in the bathroom had not been emptied nor had the floor been cleaned. My husband had to crawl under a table in the bedroom to reach a power point to charge his phone, the carpet and skirting boards were in need of a good clean. . When we went down for dinner I complained to the girl at reception about the fan and the lack of housekeeping in our room. She apologised but on arriving back at our room things had not been rectified. On a positive note the food in the bistro was lovely and reasonably priced. Also in fairness they did not charge us for our bottle of wine as we were not fully satisfied with our room. Breakfast and service in the morning was really good. Improvements to the housekeeping and this could be very nice place to stay…
Could not expect any better. Had to deal with some unexpected personal issues, and the assistance, support and care of customer team has been prompt and incomparably valuable. Strongly advised, will come back Thank you so much and all the best! Diego
Seduced by the website, I booked an executive room at Carberry. The mismatch between the description/photo on the website and the room we were allocated was quite shocking. The bedroom was airless, badly decorated and just neglected. The so-called "bathroom" had a tiny shower cubicle (maybe 60x60), no functional ventilation and an extraordinary sink that I found impossible to use without splashing water everywhere! The staff explanation was that "this is an old building" (fair enough), but no response to the obvious discrepancies between website and reality.
Carberry and the entire staff there were simply EXCELLENT! One of the reasons we picked this location (outside of it’s obvious beauty and history) was because of Kirsty, our wedding coordinator. We were planning a wedding virtually from the US abd she made everything so easy- from customized virtual walkthroughs, very available for any questions to giving us a ton of help and recommendations on vendors and ideas on where to purchase specific party favors. She was super detailed and accommodating with all of our requests! And the day of, carberry didn’t disappoint- the food was fantastic, our guests were all able to stay together in one location which was priceless and everything went smoothly. Kirsty and the team handled all the details and I didn’t worry about a thing! Day of, I realized my wedding dress got wrinkled traveling from the states and her staff went out and bought a steamer for me!! Peter, our bartender, was a cocktail wizard and delighted all of our guests! I can’t imagine picking a better venue or a better group of people- we felt so lucky to be able to get married at carberry and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great boutique experience!…
We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful manor house. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant food was excellent for breakfast and dinner. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We spent three nights and it was a good location for exploring Edinburgh. Would recommend getting an executive room or suite as the classic rooms were a little small. Luckily we had the royal suite which gave enough room for our party of eight to meet. Of course the library and salon rooms were very comfortable as well as the lounges. Would love to come back and stay again.
What am I missing here? Really! Advertised "white company" products on their own website and booking dot com. NO! They do not offer this at all. When I asked for some lotion, was given a "TINY" bottle. The actual outside of the building is awesome. Inside the building the finish/repairs really are awful. Fire sign in room was hanging off an ELASTIC BAND! Sink was blocked with "TOO MUCH" hair (not ours!). Finish in rooms was pathetic. SIMPLY REFER TO PHOTOS AND MAKE YOUR OWN MINDS UP.
We only stayed 1 night at the Carberry Tower Mansion House. Nontheless we were welcomed by our very friendly host! Check-in was quick and easy. The rooms were clean and the beds very comfortable. Since we had to leave for the airport the next morning before breakfast officially started the buffet was prepared early and we had a nice start to the day with an excellent continental breakfast. The house itself is most charming. We had a drink in the bar, also there we were waited on with a smile on their faces. 100 % recommended! Thank you for your hospitality!
Met up with family here. The building is steeped in history and although is an old building, the rooms are lovely. There are lovely areas to sit outside and grounds where you can do a circular walk. The staff were very polite and helpful. Meals were excellent. Would definitely stay again.
