I am a 5* hotel junkie but understand the way of the highlands..hotel looks terrible from the outside...when we entered the lobby with sunken hearts - the host was very pleasant and there was an unexpected modernity and smell of fresh paint and new carpet...our rooms were spotless and fine, wallpaper & lamps a bit wonky diy but hey - we’re in the middle of what some would call nowhere; wallpaper and expert decorators are thin on the ground so it’s fine! Bathroom was pretty new..all good..good nights sleep..Lovely breakfast and nice host. Please stay here and don’t be put off by the outside. It’s not quaint🤷‍♀️but it’s a kind of non chocolate box building that has survived since post war modernism was a thing, in rural areas where developers and fashionistas have not ventured nor deigned to juj up 😜

As others say, the outside appearance is not great but the owners were friendly, the rooms spotless and modern, and the food was excellent. A great spot for exploring the beautiful northwest and north coast.

When we arrived we thought, oh my god, what have we booked, and while we waited sat in the car park in the pouring rain we were looking for alternative hotels. But boy were we wrong, we went into the hotel to a lovely reception area and a very warm welcome, and then when we were shown round the hotel and taken to our room, we were really surprised, impressed aand really pleased we had booked here. The rooms are very tastefully decorated, very clean and comfortable and the views are stunning, you couldn’t ask for more. We chose to eat in the hotel in the evening, and again, excellent, and so was the breakfast in the morning. For’s- excellent location, stunning views, lovely rooms, comfy bed, tasty food, wonderfull host. Against - nothing, apart from the front of the hotel gives the wrong impression

We Stayed at the Rhiconich for only the one night as it was part of a 10 day tour of Scotland on our motorcycles, like the title states "never judge a book by its cover"because the first impression is Oh Dear! but please dont let that put you off because Heather and Marcus gave such a warm welcome, the rooms are clean and comfy and food was very good, we had evening meal and breakfast. It was welcoming to relax in the lounge area after dinner too. out of all the hotels we stayed at on the tour this is got to be in the top 3 and some of them we stayed at were 4* accomodation.
