A very good hotel. Upmarket decor, strangely Balinese influence, with individual rooms well spaced in the extensive grounds. The grounds are well planted and colourful with lots of original large trees. These are attractive but mean that half the rooms will have their patio areas with private plunge pools in the shade for a large part of the day. The main pool area is well clear of trees so enjoys uninterrupted sunshine, when the sun isn't affected by the clouds building against the high Sierra Nevada mountains.
The rooms are very large with very high roof lines. Plenty of space for a king bed and usually at least one other single. Large tv we didn't try, a/c, excellent WiFi, hairdryer, safe and fridge and of course your private plunge pool.
Breakfast provides an extensive choice. Fruit juice, tea or coffee, a bowl of cereal, cornflakes, granola with yoghurt etc, a bowl of chopped fruit, eggs to choice, pancakes, fried, omelette, a choice of breads, more than you'll need and tasty.

Dinner has an extensive choice. All meals were tasty and very well presented. As a partly captive audience you might expect prices to be expensive. They weren't, 40,000COP for something like a large quality burger and fries to an excellent mixed seafood paella served in a cast iron pan for 55,000. Beer, 8000 a can and wine from 80,000 a bottle. Great food great service. Walking down to the village to compare with the road-side restaurants you could be paying 35,000 a meal in a far less refined environment.

The staff at reception, restaurant and bar are really friendly and helpful. Not a lot of English spoken except at reception but always fun making ourselves understood.

THE place to stay in the area. This hotel puts 5 star hotels to shame. It’s rustic, but perfect. Rooms have high ceilings and rain showers- not to mention a private plunge pool. The main pool overlooks a beautiful view and with the few rooms on property is never very crowded. The food and drinks are amazing and so well priced. Massages by the river are a must and can be arranged upon arrival. Tayrona park is an easy 5-10 minute walk down the road, but you won’t want to leave the hotel. They can arrange for very well priced drivers from airport or to other cities (in new cars with AC!). Thank you for the most amazing stay!

ONE FLAG - English speakers, brush up on your Spanish or download offline Google translate. The staff is so friendly but primarily Spanish speaking.

Good restaurant to go, especially if you are staying the Hotel Watapuy or Koguiwa, near Tayrona national park. The service is excellent. Food was interesting. We had the sea bass fillet, Wasabi tortellini, beef loin with peppersauce and chicken soup. All very good. Only suggestion would be to ask for the mash potato on the side as it is served as a bed to the beef and soaks up all the sauce

This hotel is unable to refund me in a timely manner after a proper cancellation. I assume they are honorable people but their explanations are not very clear. Even with clear explanations, it is unreasonable to delay a refund for so long. I hope they are able to improve in time but beware.

I had this hotel booked for months. Today they have decided to cancel my reservation 1 week ahead of my stay. I have planned my whole trip around staying at this place as it looks so beautiful and have paid for a train fair and bus in advance. I have tried to contact them via email phone and WhatsApp regarding the booking but I have had a very short email saying my card details on booking.com are not working. My card details are correct and are working and it is a shame no one has tried to contact me or come back to my queries before cancelling this. I will lose out on a lot of money now as there is no where left to stay in the Tyrona area. What is even more disappointing is a few weeks ago I had the opportunity to stay at another accommodation but chose this one because it looked expectional. Truly disappointed especially now as I have to replan my whole trip. I’m assuming that because it is the holidays they are not worried about cancelling my booking as they can now get a higher price from new guests. Very sad

Beautiful, peaceful boutique hotel in a semi jungle setting, yet only 15 min walk to Tayrona NP.

Photos are very accurate. Large individual thatched cabanas with private deck, loungers and dipping pool. Big bathroom with twin sinks and walk in shower. Very comfy bed. Fan and air con. Gorgeous pool and grounds with a river running along the bottom you can swim in. Very good food. Excellent massage service. However, service and organisation needs some attention for me to give a 5 star rating.

Menus and services such as spa or taxi/excursions are accessed via an app which is all in English, yet none of the staff speak English! This causes confusion and is somewhat frustrating in communication terms when nearly all the guests are European or American. The app also doesn't work well. So, for example, the taxi we booked, although confirmed on the app, wasn't actually ordered for us. Ditto a spa treatment I requested.

There also appear to be too many staff, so they don't have enough to do, which means they pass their time chatting and are not especially attentive when you do want service.

We also had a few other little niggles like no welcome drink on arrival or even bottle of water in the room after a long journey; no white wine available by the glass until our last night, despite the fact we could order at the sister hotel next door; hot and cold taps to the washbasin when only cold water available; shower that was either boiling or freezing and inconsiderate use of sprinklers to water the grounds which meant we had to get wet a number of times to access our room.

If some if not all of these issues could be rectified, I would give a five star rating because it is a gorgeous place.

Loved this hotel. Beautiful setting. Large accommodations. Nice bed. Good ac. Your own pool!! So beautiful! Lovely cocktails. Birds! So nice.

My one criticism would be that the restaurant food was ok. Some things very good and some not. Curry, steak good. Brownie and ice cream was remarkably awful. A bit hit or miss.

It would also be fabulous to have a water bottle refilling station rather than buying all those plastic bottles but that seems the way here.

A great small hotel with a pool to die for overlooking the rainforest. The rooms are simple but comfortable including a minibar fridge and plunge pool. Two minute walk to the river which we could just about swim in. We saw Jesus Christ lizards walking on the water. If you wade across the river you can do a short hike up the hill opposite.

Food was good enough and prices ok.

Only negatives are: the lack of any free water, they should have a big cooler if filtered water in the lobby; shame there are no umbrellas for the pool sunloungers; and shame no hummingbird and other bird feeders in the grounds. We did however see parrots in the grounds and an Aracari in the tree just outside the front gate.

Would definitely stay again. It' peaceful and you can't hear the main road. We will return one day.

The drive to the reception is beautiful. The view of the mountain exiting the reception hall is amazing.

Our room was huge, as was the deck. By comparison, the pool on the deck seemed smallish. It would be more inviting if it was a step deeper, twice wider. I had hoped it would have the look of an infinity pool. We didn't use the pool, instead we sat and watched wildlife. There were hummingbirds to our right, a variety of birds flying to and fro, an iguana, red squirrels, and even cotton top tamarins.

The bed and bedding isn't of the quality I'm accustomed to, but not an issue. There is a/c, and two fans in the room.

The restaurant menu has many choices. In retrospect, I would not have bought the plan including dinner. The plan is a set menu, it is the same for our stay. By the second day, I was wanting of more choices. The dishes are creative and well presented. Many are familiar to us, and thus miss the mark. I would've preferred to have local cuisine on the menu.

There is a water refill machine, unfortunately we couldn't get water from it more time than we could. This didn't happen at the other two places we stayed during the trip.

Finally, the reception and restaurant staff are wonderful. They try to make our stay as wonderful as possible. Thank you!

This was a dreamy hotel. When you pull up to the reception, there is a stunning review of the mountains. The staff was very friendly and helped with my bags to my cabana. The main pool was fun to swim in and I also enjoyed the mini pool at my cabana. The cabana was clean and spacious and had great bath products in the shower (though suprisingly they didn't have lotion). The breakfast was delicious and I had the best arepa de huevo of my entire trip at Senda Watapuy. The grounds are gorgeous and you can hear the river, birds and bugs at night. I got a massage, which was fantastic in an open air cabana at the hotel, looking out over the river. A real treat to go to Senda Watapuy!
