I don't really want to write this as we love to keep Staniel Cay Yacht Club a "secret!!" This beautiful resort is our favorite place ever. Our Home away from home. From the incredible staff, to the amazing boating community and the warm friendly local bohemians, everyone treats you like family. Who can resist the listerine blue waters, sugar soft sand, irresistible food and drinks that are better than any five star resort you've ever been to? Every single time we have to depart this little slice of heaven, we literally count the days until we'll return.... Staniel Cay Yacht Club holds a special piece of our hearts and we're pretty sure it's the closest thing to heaven on earth. 💞

We did a relatively short trip (3 nights) at the Staniel Cay Yacht Club at the beginning of Feb. Were were in Sugar Apple, which is pretty close to the Bar/Restaurant. As you may know, wifi is only available in the bar area but we were able to get a signal as we sat on our front porch. From beginning to end the staff were extremely nice and accommodating. Lots of smiles - but who wouldn't be smiling if you got to enjoy those views all the time. I'm still amazed at the fact that they pretty much just give you a boat and say "have fun"! We spent two days out on the water exploring the area. Things are truly closer than you think they are once you figure out which way you are going. As we read reviews prior to our trip I noticed that there were some reviews that focused on the quality and price of the food and drinks. Yes, the beers were $5.50 and the cocktails were $12-15 but have you been to downtown Nashville lately??? That's right in line with what they charge here AND they don't have to bring the drinks and supplies into Nashville via boat!! Granted, I am no self proclaimed "foodie" so I won't try to impress you with my thesaurus-like descriptions and critiques. I enjoyed everything that I had and couldn't possibly have anything negative to say about the food. The dinners were wonderful (we ate in the dining room twice and chilled in the bar area for dinner the last night). I watched the bartender pour peanuts into a blender of some type and had to ask what he was making....it was a peanut colada and even though I'm a beer/bourbon guy I HAD to try it. IT WAS AMAZING!! Great conversation with both staff and other visitors made for a really enjoyable trip. Would go back in a heartbeat!

In July of 2020 in the midst of the pandemic the Bahamas closed their boarders to commercial flights. This is when we discovered the jewel of Staniel Cay Yacht Club and the fact they offer private charter "by the seat" at similar to AA fares but private small plane! Amazing experience starting in their VIP airport lounge... You'll never want to travel commercial again!
We booked our over the water bungalow and their exceptional all inclusive package that really is great value. it includes all meals, and great fresh food selections from lobster to steak as well as your own small center consul boat with unlimited fuel! The Bahamas is the boaters paradise in the world, and the Exuma's are the crown jewel so if you want to experience this paradise on your own terms, your own beaches, your own snorkel stops, your own time with the famous swimming pigs this is just amazing and the way to go. We spent each day ordering a delicious lunch to go in a cooler and off we went to explore - pure freedom and beauty.
This should be on everyone's bucket list ~ if you love nature & the ocean!
Staniel Cay yacht club itself is a cozy small resort with a fantastic marina...
We absolutely loved it and will be back!

Stayed here for one night. Staniel Cay is one of the nicest islands in the Bahamas and a great jump-off point for tours. We walked from the airport (10 minutes). Quick and super friendly check-in, the waterfront huts/cottages we had were new with a very tasteful interior design and a deck that overlooked the marina. Restaurant food was excellent and bar was a happening place mostly due to boaters. Room rates are high, even by Bahamas standards. Overall, I'd rank this in the top 5 places (out of 100+) that I have visited in the Caribbean & Bahamas.

First time at Staniel Cay and we loved it! Very cool vibe with nice rooms, a lively bar, and great food. The location near the Thunderball Grotto and Pig Beach makes it very accessible with the resort provided 17’ skiffs. Beautiful water, beaches and sandbars are all close by. Felicia is a great bartender and the service was excellent. We had a great time and can’t wait to get back to Staniel Cay again.

Further to reading the last review regarding the price increase, I felt it necessary to write this review.
We stayed at the yacht club in January of this year for the first time and had the most magical, dreamy stay. Talking to other visitors, it became evident that people return year after year which all the staff seemed to pride themselves on.
We are looking to return and are shocked to see the room rates have basically doubled. In January this year we paid $474 per night for Orange villa which included tax and our meals. The same accommodation is now $875!!
Whilst totally understanding rising prices, this seems more than an acceptable increase. The villas are comfortable and rustic, we wouldn’t say luxury.
Unfortunately, sadly this is now not in our budget to return which is extremely disappointing after such a wonderful stay.
I suggest you review your prices.

On behalf of the owners and management at the Staniel Cay Yacht Club we'd like to thank you for taking the time to share your comments here. Our room rates are determined by several factors, including operating costs and market demand. For many years, we avoided passing along cost increases to our guests even though our costs to operate the resort increased yearly. However, to maintain and improve the quality of the Staniel Cay Yacht Club, a price increase was recently unavoidable. We are proud of our team and the quality of product and service we provide, and the new prices are aligned with the experience of SCYC. To those who are reading this review in search of a vacation rental, we hope you won't allow this review to dissuade you from contacting or visiting us, and allowing us the sincere privilege of showing you why the Staniel Cay Yacht Club has been the choice of thousands of satisfied visitors for many years. Thank you for your time, and we hope to hear from you soon.

My wife and I have been going to Staniel Cay Yacht Club For 20 years. I prepaid 50% for my room 1 year in advance and the final payment was made 30 days prior to our trip. I needed to make a slight change in my reservation 2 weeks prior to the trip and was told that they would not honor my prepaid rate. They doubled my prepaid room rate and refused to give me a refund. My choice was to forfeit my prepayment or pay double. Customer NO SERVICE!!!! The new prices do not warrant the below standard accommodations and run down boats. Total lack of privacy due to the number of tour boats Staniel caters to now. People walking up on our porch and deck. We were unable to park our boat in our designated spot because the staff allowed tour boats and guides to dock in paying guests reserved spots. The old price was for quaint not luxury. Now luxury price for subpar accommodations and amenities.

Hello jlg3golf, Thank you for taking the time to share your comments here on TripAdvisor and even more for being willing to cooperate with our team on reaching a mutually beneficial conclusion. As you know, everything has to be flown into Staniel Cay, or arrive by boat, which leads to higher costs and therefore prices. Unfortunately, your request to upgrade to the Package Plan was affected by not just one, but two price increases since the time you originally booked your reservation. In light of this, we modified your nightly rate to the rate that was in place prior to the most recent increase in July, and have refunded you the difference. As mentioned in another response, for many years, we have avoided passing along cost increases to our guests even though our costs to operate the resort increased yearly. However, to maintain and improve the quality of the Staniel Cay Yacht Club, recent price increases were unavoidable. To those who are reading this review in search of a vacation rental, we hope you won't allow this review to dissuade you from contacting or visiting us, and allowing us the sincere privilege of showing you why the Staniel Cay Yacht Club has been the choice of thousands of satisfied visitors for many years!

If you're planning a trip to SCYC, beware. Should your travel plans change, you will lose it all. Mostly visited by a loud, vulgar, obnoxious and ostentatious crowd with more money to spend than manners to show, this place has lost its charm that made it a great destination in the 90ies. Luckily, better and much cheaper alternatives are popping up all over the Exumas. Try Cape Santa Maria or newly opened Cape Eleuthera Resort & Marina. These are all places where guests are not just a credit card number to charge but humans to be welcomed and pampered. SCYC has run its way, I'm afraid.

Hello RomeoBravo654 - We are very sorry Staniel Cay Yacht Club fell short of your expectations. While things have changed over the years, we strive to keep the atmosphere as it has always been - friendly, comfortable, and welcoming. This type of review is exceptionally rare for us and we sincerely apologize if we let you down. But I will say our cancellation policy is in line with all other boutique Bahamian resorts, and is clearly posted on our website. We also strongly encourage guests to take out travel insurance especially with COVID problems lingering. Our guests' enjoyment is our primary goal and you are certainly not just a credit card number to us. We hope you decide to give us another chance, but if not, we're glad you'll still be traveling to the Bahamas!

I live in Nassau and my parents live in George Town, so I've spent many days cruising the Cays and have stopped in at SYC for lots of lunches, late afternoons snacks, a few dinners (including a Christmas Day Dinner)....but it wasn't until this last weekend that I had the chance to stay on property.

After a long 3 months of lockdowns, quarantines and social distancing, the domestic travel rules here relaxed and we were able to travel. We considered a few options, but settled on Staniel Cay Yacht Club as they seemed to have things together for COVID preparedness. A large group of us flew in from Nassau and stayed for a few nights. Honestly, any stay in Exuma is perfection, but this trip was made soooo much better by the staff. Liz and Nettie and Filly, Kasey, Carl etc, really made our trip so much better. Everyone left raving about the food, but most importantly the service. Can't wait to stay on property again.

There is nothing negative to say about this place. Our interaction with staff was great all the time, everyone is always smiling and happy to have a conversation.
The food is great, haven't had a bad meal and the "to go" lunches don't fall short either. The kitchen staff packs everything you need for a picnic into a cooler and its ready to go in the morning.
The bar is inviting, fun to hang out for a drink and the cocktails are tasty. We found it easy to talk with the locals at the bar and everyone is there to have a good time.
We used the boats that the club has to offer and travelled all over the tiny cays, the boats work well but some may need a bit of TLC.
We stayed in the Ocean Blue and Pink bungalow, both were clean, inviting and in good shape for their age. The Pink bungalow is older and its visible, however everything was upkept and it was clean.

Drinks are expensive. I like rum so that’s a bit more reasonable. But plan at least $10 a drink and margaritas or mojitos can be $15. Then there the 10% VAT and in many places another 18% service charge which doesn’t go to the server, so we tipped on top of that. One night we each had two drinks and it came to $100.
