I left a ton of positive reviews during my varying stays on this trip. This one won’t be so positive. Don’t get me wrong, the exterior, beach, and pool or gorgeous. My bone to pick is in three places. First, my charged rate didn’t match what I booked for online. There must have been $100-$120 in additional taxes and energy fees? So my $280 room ended up over $400. Alright that’s number one…. Number two is the absolutely insane food prices. Three beers and a burger for $78 after tip for one person. Now McDonalds is right across the street so I think next time I’ll walk! Finally, for the price my wing shouldn’t have been littered with construction supplies, ripped carpet, and steps. Just my thoughts but, not my favorite Hilton property.

This location is primo! Walk to Fish Fry, downtown shops, COVID testing across the street, US Embassy. Cab stand out front for further excursions. We felt very safe here, large police presence in Nassau these days. Check Marvin for security! Pool like like new, live music on the weekend. Beach is clean and raked daily . Staff and bartenders are friendly and excellent. Check Valentino and Samuel, great job. Rooms are clean for the hotels historic age. This a timeless place, one of the grand beauties. Water pressure could be a little better, but hot water was great. Food was excellent and prices were fair for the area.

Stay Report - 5/29 to 5/30 Location: the hotel is located in the heart of Downtown Nassau which was a selling point for me.  Unfortunately, due to a lack of cruise traffic this area is currently dead.  Despite what Google said very few restaurants and bars were open.  The good news was that we could walk to several of the ones that are open.  Also if you need a COVID test to get back into the US there's a clinic across the street.  NAS is about 20 minutes and a $35 cab ride away. Hotel: The hotel is really nice looking and has one of the best lobbies I've ever seen in a Hilton.  There's also a decent pool and a little beach on the property.  In the lobby is a well stocked bar and restaurant as well as a couple of computers with printers.  There's also a parking garage next door which serves the hotel. Check In: A real low point.  We arrived at 2:30 PM and I'd paid for an upgraded room.  Nothing was ready.  The front desk agent was not helpful or friendly and seemed very apathetic.  This was consistent of all front desk staff.  We finally got into the room after 4.  No upgrade or Diamond recognition either. Room: Really small.  I'd paid for a king oceanview and while I got that, I was expecting a larger room.  The design was also really strange with an alcove holding the desk.  On the plus side the bathroom was huge and the Wifi worked well. Dining: We had dinner here and it was really good minus the high prices ($11 for a cup of soup).  Service at the restaurant was great.  Diamonds get free continental breakfast or can upgrade to hot breakfast for $7.  I did that and got eggs, bacon, toast, pastries, fruit, yogurt, coffee and juice which was a good spread. Overall I was expecting a bit more from a $300 stay.

At the restaurant and bar the staff delivered typical island service (slow) which is expected. The main complaint I have is the quality of the room. Sitting in bed I had two pieces of a reading lamp fall on me. The pieces were so hot that they gave me a second degree burn on my right shoulder. I didn’t expect anything to fall on me and it really surprised me, I thought something had bitten me like a snake or something.

Stayed here for the 1st time march - april 2021 and the booking prices were very good too. Shop around the internet booking websites and also, check the Hotel's web site or call them for extended stays. Staff ( Cleaning, Ancillary, Gardeners, Door, Concierge, Reservations, Managers, etc. ) were hospitable, prompt and accommodating during my 2 weeks stay. I enjoyed conversing with all. The covid-19 protocols were excellent and there's also a convenient testing facility across the road opposite the Dairy Bell shop. Great breakfast, dinner food and drink menu with fresh and tasty food which can be enjoyed sublimely seated at the patio overlooking the tropical gardens and private beach; the only thing missing was the site of cruises ships sailing by but they are on their way back. My higher floor, city view, queen bedroom was clean, accommodating. I slept like a rock on the soft pillows and wonderful mattress. Due to covid-19, primarily the Bullion, souvenir & convenience shop were open for services; no tours etc. I missed the Brews and Bites Cafe as this is where I would pop into regularly to get my Starbucks coffee when I was staying at the 40 years plus famous guest house: Mignon Guest House ( now closed and for sale ) in Market St way back in 2013 during my 1st visit for Junkanoo. However, I got my Starbucks close by, at the temporary Starbucks stand at the John Bull building on Bay St, a pleasant 5 minutes stroll along Bay St. A new Starbucks is opening soon next door to John Bull. The Gym was open and has excellent and safe facilities which I enjoyed using. It's great walking around the tropical gardens, the large pool and also, lounging on the sofas in the pool gardens and on the beach. You can kayak, snorkel or swim in the beautiful waters of the private beach. For those that are interested in history, it's on the historic Old Fort Nassau site, where remnants of the old walls can be seen on the grounds, a National Register of Historical Signiificance building. The Woodes Rogers statue is by the entrance, he contributed to ending the Island's period as a Pirate Republic. Many of the pirates living in Nassau at the time (where the skull and crossbones was the flag truly flying), such as Captain John Howard Graysmith accepted the King's Pardon. He was one of the wealthiest pirates, if not the wealthiest at the time of accepting the pardon, he poured his monies into building his grand mansion : Gray Cliff; now a hotel, restaurant and cigar factory too. Trivia: The British Colonial Hotel was used as a filming location for the James Bond film Never Say Never Again, the pier was built for the movie and remain.
