Very nice hotel, good location in Red Hook. We are Ritz Carlton fans and expect the best when we visit their properties.. this one is a little off the Gold Standard with slower service and response rates. Communication can be improved and a sense of urgency on issues and questions. The challenges we had were with the cab services. They contract with Kelly and the drivers were rude at best. Plan on long trips because they pick up as many people as possible before your destination. We were not able to secure any better transportation. While we liked the hotel, we have no compelling reason to return.

Stayed here for 6 nights with my family. The hotel room is very nice and modern, all the staff were very very friendly and would respond with “my pleasure” when I said thank you. Be aware that only buildings E and F have one shared elevator, and the lobby building has an elevator as well. Buildings A, B, C, and D do not have elevators. The pool is very nice and the alloro restaurant has great food. The views of the beach are beautiful. I also recommend getting a pool cabana. I would definitely stay here again, and I highly recommend staying here, you will not regret it!

So, this is a tale of stying at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, and, a week later, staying at the Ritz Carlton Residences Club, This is not my first rodeo at this particular Ritz Carlton, having stayed here no less than five or six times prior. Lets start with the pluses of the hotel first . . . It’s still a beautiful property. This was my first time staying subsequent to Irma/Maria. The renovations that have been done to the rooms and pools are absolutely stunning Rooms, while not the most spacious, are scrupulously clean and housekeeping does a really nice job. We stayed on a club level floor and found he service and food to be very nice—really no complaints. Now for the not so good, and these complaints revolve largely with the administrative staff and their utter inability on follow through and problem solving. I had reservations for two rooms. About a week prior to my arrival, i upgraded the room I had reserved for my daughter to a cub-level room. A few days subsequent, I received an email from Brittani in reservations stating that my Ritz Carlton charge did not go through. I answered straight away not wanting to lose the room. Sadly, between the staff at the ritz Carlton and the staff at Chase bank, we were unable to arrive at a reason why the charge wouldn’t go through on the ritz Carlton card. After several attempts to reach Brittani, I gave up and put the charge on another credit card. This is annoying because I will not receive the 6X points I am entitled to on the Ritz Carlton card. Upon arrival, my daughter was told there were no club room upgrades available. She waited for me to arrive, and I did my best to hash out the difference of what I had upgraded to and what we were receiving. Dealing with Viktoria, it took well over two hours only be be told that my daughter would be placed in a resort-view, non-club level room. Viktoria told me she would do her best to obtain club level amenities for my daughter. We did not receive word about that until 24 hours later, leaving my daughter with pretty much one opportunity to use the club-level lounge. The topper in all of this came at check-out time. Naturally, had been charged for the upgraded room which we had never received. To unravel that took nearly one hour and the topper was my inability to use my Ritz Carlton charge card for the charges. The hotel was unable to refund off one card and refill on another. At $1,300 per night, the 6X marriott point are not insignificant. Also super annoying, is no rum punch welcome drink at check-in. They’ve been doing this for years. At $,300 per night minimum, is this a prudent cost-cutting measure?? So, now on to the tale of the Ritz Carlton Club . . . After spending a week on St John, we were fortunate to spend another four nights with a friend who has a 3 BR/3 BTH fractional share at the residences. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!! Check-in was smooth and professional, including the welcome rum punch drink. Requests to do something a bit special for our host’s birthday were met with a nice bottle of Prosecco and a lovely slice of chocolate cake—no reminders were needed. Golf-cart shuttles to the spa were extremely prompt and friendly. We were in the Lily building which offered splendid views to the water and beach. Housekeeping was an absolute dream. All in all, our experience the Ritz Carlton Club was superb in every way—things I would have expected from the hotel and its staff. Shame on the Hotel for its horrible administrative blunders and overall lack of superior service. This is certainly t top-dollar accommodation with less than spectacular service and follow through.

First time to St. Thomas and enjoyed the resort. We felt the service overall was good and staff was helpful and friendly anytime requested. The gym was a good sized gym and had plenty of equiptment. We hit the spa twice and had good massages both times. Locker room had all you needed and a steam room. No jacuzzi or dry sauna. We ate at the Alloro resturant twice and both times the food was good. We also had drinks each night here after our dinners off property. Mr. Burt's Bushwacker is a must and Danny also has a good variety of specialty drinks. Our room was in the club building F oceanfront. Good sized room and bathroom. Balcony was also big enough but we really did not spend much time in the room or on the balcony as we were out enjoying the resort and island most of our time. We did pay for club access and it was a good choice. Had all you needed and ate breakfast there and had plenty of drinks and snacks throughout the day. This is not a full service type place but totally met our needs. The ladies in the club room are pleasant and we enjoyed getting to know them over this past week. We went to St. Johns one day to check out the beaches. Yes they were nice and there are a few shops in town but really was a lot of work in our opinion to go to the beach. If you go, I would not waste the money or time renting a car. We took the normal truck taxies which were cheap and easy. We ate at the Terrace resturant which was good. Book any resturant anywhere early because space is limited. Past that, it was a nice experience. Yes the drinks and food are pricey but so is everything on the island because your on an island.

As a yearly visitor to the Ritz residences on St Thomas, I usually look forward to coming back from the moment I leave until the moment I return. I had such a horrible experience at the Ritz Spa this year, it soiled the entire trip. I had a Spafinder gift card which is accepted at Ritz-Carlton spas and supposedly accepted at the Ritz in St Thomas (per the website). My massage was ok, certainly not worth $200+ for 50 minutes. But as I had a gift card, I didn’t mind. Then, I go to check out and they didn’t know how to process the card. I waited for an hour while they “attempted” to make it work. Then, when all was said and done they said “sorry nothing we can do, we will have to bill the full amount to your room.” No discount, no real apology, no conversation with a manager. An hour of my time waster. Awful customer service. Honestly, about on par with the rest of the customer service this trip (way worse than normal, even accounting for island time). Nobody at the concierge answers the phone. Daily visits from housekeeping at 9am despite the request for 11:30am or later. Seaweed all over the beach. Clearly, the hospitality industry in St Thomas is in a bad place. But from a Ritz, I would expect better.
