We were needing a place to stay in downtown Christiansted for one night and this place offered a very affordable rate. The rooms were a little 1990s dated but it looked like they were in the midst of some overall renovations on the property. The pool area was very nice. The real asset of this hotel is it's location right along the Christiansted waterfront in the heart of the downtown area, footsteps from many shops, restaurants, and historical sites. Considering the great location, the price was great value for money. If you have a car, there is free street parking in the neighborhood around the hotel. However, there is no on-site parking. It took us a little while to find a parking space for our rental car on one of the side streets a few minutes' walk from the hotel. This hotel has lovely views of the harbor. There is no beach on the Christiansted waterfront but the hotel is right next to the water taxi service that will take you a few minutes across the harbor to the nice beach on Protestant Cay.…
I recommend this hotel for couples or friends in their 20s-40s looking for a fun, trendy. and well located hotel with restaurants and bars on the property. We LOVED our time at King Christian Hotel! We moved here from Hotel Caravelle which had a very impersonal and run down vibe and no pool due to renovations and we were THRILLED with our choice to change hotels! The staff is super friendly, the restaurant/bar/cafe/ice cream place on the property are phenomenal — and the newly renovated pool area was the perfect oasis after a morning of adventure. The location right on the water is very convenient, and the views from our room (301) were amazing — the rooms are basic and the balconies could do with an upgrade to match the aesthetic of the pool area, but it looks like they’re still doing some upgrades — which weren’t disruptive to our trip. They provided first-class shampoo/conditioner/body wash but no hairdryer. The only negative was the lack of flexibility to request a late check out — even though the hotel wasn’t fully booked.…
We loved our stay here, in the heart of the island's big town and historic center. Right next to the historic Fort, near the house where Alexander Hamilton grew up, restaurants/bars/coffee shops steps away. At one end of the waterfront "boardwalk." Take the $5 ferry across to the little island for the beach. (Bring your snorkel, we saw sea turtles and a manta ray just offshore).
The BEST!!! I wish I could give them 10 stars! The people are amazing. So friendly and helpful. They made us feel home the moment we walked in. LOVED the room and the view. The hotel is clean, and the rooms are great. The entire staff took such great care of us and our room every day. They manage to give guests everything they need while preserving the hotel's character and history, and allowing you to still feel you are indeed in the Caribbean, and not just in some kitschy 13-in-a-dozen motel you can find anywhere. They are currently renovating and we got a sneak preview of the renovated rooms that will be available very soon. OMG!! You have something to look forward to. 100% recommend this hotel. Would go back immediately if I could. My most heartfelt thank you to everybody at the King Christian Hotel. You are a gem in the Caribbean.…
Extended our vacation to St Croix. Having a great time, but the Buccaneer was just too expensive for what you get, so we moved downtown and stayed 4 days at the King Christian. Had a great time. The staff was wonderful. They are working on the property, but that was not any problem. Great pool. 5 minutes to the beach at Hotel on the Cay. Right next to the boardwalk, and all the restaurants and bars. Short walk to all the downtown historic sites, as well as shopping and dining. Had a wonderful time!
