My Wife and I came here for our honeymoon and had a great time! Andrea and Rupert were the perfect hosts. They made sure we had everything we needed while we were waiting for our covid tests to come back. Once we were clear of quarantine, they set up a tour of the island, a sailing and snorkeling adventure, and various trips around the island. Lets talk about food. I have had good food, but what we were served was absolutely amazing! Many places say they are known for steak, but nothing I have ever had stands up to the Filet Mignon at Sugar Mill. The good food did not stop at the steak, everything we ate was absolutely delicious! The only things that we thought were not optimal were all due to Covid. It is difficult to see the beautiful view from the patio when you can't go and enjoy it, but hopefully all of that won't be a problem here in the near future. My wife and I had planned on vacationing in many different areas, but after our stay and Sugar Mill, we have already made plans to come back!

My husband and I booked this place after being canceled on a yacht charter. On day one at the Sugar Mill, we were very happy our yacht charter had been canceled and we were staying a week at the Sugar Mill Hotel. Rupert and Andrea were the best hosts and, now life-long friends. They truly went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time, from delivering food to our room at any time to taking us on a day tour of the island. They truly love their job and their home and it shows. It was like staying in a luxury 5-star resort combined with the small personal attention to every detail. The staff, cook, housekeepers, and everyone we encountered were so very nice and made sure we had everything we needed or wanted. We are already planning our return to the Sugar Mill.

We celebrated our 'third' honeymoon (first was 40 years ago, renewal in 1999) again in the Sugar Mill. We went in April of 2021 during Covid tourism restrictions. Sugar Mill managers were diligent and gracious in maintaining guidelines, so that we felt quite comfortable and safe. The facilities are beautiful, immaculately well maintained, with spectacular views. We had one of the many rooms with a balcony overlooking the ocean - and like all the balconies, it faces west to take in the beautiful sunsets. We had all of our meals in the two on-site restaurants. The food was excellent, the selection always interesting, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. The staff was, to a person, warm, friendly, and helpful. The managers and owners made a point of chatting with us daily to make sure all was well and to inquire into what we might need. We will certainly return as it is one of our favorite resorts.

We found The Sugar Mill after checking into another hotel just down the street. I immediately knew I was in the wrong place, did some quick looking online, found The Sugar Mill and prayed for the best! I called and spoke to Andrea who was immediately warm and welcoming and sent her husband Rupert to pick us up. Andrea and Rupert run this quaint resort with impeccable attention and personal service to meet your every need. Nestled in the hill side with beautiful ocean views from every room, the rooms are private, quiet and comfortable. The 300 year history of the original property is fascinating. Their main restaurant was not open (sadly, as we heard it was one of the best on Tortola) but their second restaurant, Tramonti, was open our 2nd day and it was delicious! The whole lobster and pan seared grouper entrees were one of the best meals we had on our entire trip! This was a wonderful experience mainly because of Rupert, Andrea and their staff. Thank you both for making us feel like more than just guests. When we return to Tortola we will definitely return to The Sugar Mill.

It has been four years since our trip to Tortola, but I find myself thinking about it often and reminiscing with my wife about it often. Cleaning out my desk the other day I came across my travel log and decided I had to share. Upon arrival, we met with Mary (owner) who offered us a drink, talked about the excursions we planned and received some great advice about things to consider while on the island. Our cottage was well equipped (coffee, fridge, etc.) with a beautiful and private stone outdoor shower. Our bed was heavenly and included luxury linens. Overall, everything was nicely furnished and appointed. The pool was small but provided an intimate setting. We were there before the season kicked off so it was quiet. There is not a bar at the pool but the fridge was stocked and the main restaurant was just a short walk. The beach is beautiful with AMAZING views and there are wicker "apples" for lounging and privacy. Food - We were on an all inclusive plan and enjoyed every single meal we had. We would typically have breakfast in the Sugar House overlooking the beach and Apple Bay. For lunch, we would eat down by the beach at Tramonti and enjoy amazing food like fish tacos, conch fritters, fish n chips, etc. The dinner was always AMAZING! The setting is beautiful as it is in an old stone rum house overlooking the water. Each meal was multiple courses and showed the skill of creativity of Head Chef Bernard (Hey Bernie!!). We especially liked the lobster, ravioli, scallops, duck breast and pork belly. We were lucky enough to do an excursion with the owner and Bernie where we visited various bars like Soggy Dollar, Willy T's etc and snorkeled between stops. It was literally one of the most fun days I have ever had. After our stay here, we went to Scrub Island for a few days. Scrub is nice, but the vibe cannot compare to Sugar Mill. When we left Sugar Mill, it was like saying good bye to family. The staff was fantastic and the owners are so gracious. We will definitely be back soon and I cannot wait!
