It's an awesome place. I was welcomed on Wednesday evening and was offered a tour of the hôtel.. It's right on the bay between the sea and the lake. It's surrounded by vegetation and gives a really nice feeling. I had a room on the first floor with a lake view. It was so large it took me time to go from the wardrobe to the bathroom if I had forgoten anything. Everything had been set to welcome me and I felt really good. The necessary stuff was at the ready so that I could just pop out to the beach or to the Spa. The bed was queen or king size and very comfortable. The room was sound proof and I had excellent sleep. The staff had a discreet presence and adjusted my room for the night during my dinner time. The valet service was very nice. I forgot my Cell phone serveral times in my car and when they retrieved it for me their beeing helpfull was so very natural. The welcome staff and the waiters at the restaurant greeted me by name and made me feel welcome. The restaurant is enchanting with its crystal swarm of fishes. I tried the main dinning room for my first dinner and the outside terrace for a professionnal lunch the next day ; both were nice and confortable. Food was excellent and my glass of white wine was divine. My wife found that I had a rested face when I came back home ; I am definetely looking forward to sharing the pleasure of this hôtel with her.

Lets start with the positives; Front desk ladies are (present tense since we are still on site as I'm writing this review) all very nice. Thomas (pardon the spelling) was nice who picked us up from another resort since we wanted to try 2 new resorts on our favourite island. Nice beach front setting. Car valet staff are also nice. Alex and Rahael at the beach were also very gracious. Here's why we are giving it an average review: (1) On Sunday (July 4th) my wife took the kids to the beach. She asked for towels for the lounge chairs. No one brought anything for 20 mins. She went back to ask. Then a manager showed up and asked her "Do you belong to this hotel?". Maybe there was a better way of asking??? How did this manager (gentleman, not the beach lady manager) get trained??? (2) Had dinner at Aux Amis restaurant. This place needs more staff. We ordered mashed potatoes for the kids and kept getting fries. Ordered a bottle of wine after 2 glasses of champagne and had to go remind them after 30 mins. (3) Maybe we were unlucky but my wife and I both had tuna tatare at dinner and both of us got sick. (4) Ordered food at the beach and got the wrong checks twice before they figured out the correct one. On Monday July 5th, my family and I returned to the room around 5:15 and found the room unkempt. No one has come to refresh the room while we were out. We mentioned all of these to the front desk. They shrugged and offered an apology. We booked this hotel through American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts program. For the price we are paying, the service needs to be more attentive and some sort of letter from General would have been a nice courtesy. I definitely wouldn't classify this place as 'Fine'. As mentioned, we are still on site. I wonder what else may go wrong tomorrow.

Not enough space here to sing the praises of the staff and resort. Traveling during the pandemic came with a whole of of questions and requirements, but everyone at Le Barthelemy was so helpful. From the roughly a hundred emails prior to our trip working out details to the arrival, to the arrival, and treatment once there, it was truly exceptional service. I happen to be lacto-ovo vegetarian and there were many options for all meals, and in fact, they even ordered impossible burgers as a no meat option for me. My husband and I opted to eat some meals on our balcony and the food was always delivered promptly and with care. The service in the restaurant was fantastic and would like to provide a shout out to the sommelier, Quinten. Thanks for the great conversation and sharing of your knowledge. Additionally if you would like to meet one of the hardest working staff members I have ever met, Amanzolou( likely butchering her name spelling) was beyond friendly, fast, and we couldn’t stop commenting about how quickly she moved about ensuring everyone was happy and had what they needed. There were so many other great staff as well, we only wish we got everyone’s name. The resort was clean and use of masks were required in some areas, but it truly didn’t detract from our stay. With so many requirements for travel to St Barths, just knowing that many people there are vaccinated, tested prior to arrival and before leaving made it all seem like travel before the world turned upside down. I very rarely recommend places because one person’s opinion likely doesn’t mean much, but as someone who travels all over the world staying in 5 star places, I would highly recommend this resort and St Barths. I’m a firm believer that you pay for what you get, and paying a little more gets you a great trip if you choose to stay here. I will add that everything on the island is spread out and the resort isn’t really within walking distance of anything, but we tend to enjoy the solitude and then venture out when we want. I would recommend a rental car for part of the stay and a visit to each unique beach. Colombier will be in our dreams til next time.

We will absolutely be returning to Le Barthelemy next year! The staff went above and beyond to assist us with everything from multiple rescheduling (due to Covid) to flights (since Air Antilles does not speak any English and have terrible customer service) to dinners and activity reservations (and re-booking them all when we had to cancel our trip in March). There was a lot more to coordinate for this trip than any other I have ever taken due to the Covid restrictions and travel constraints and everyone was prompt in replying from Margaux to all of the concierge staff members such as Coline, Eve, Julie, Marie-Charlotte, Margot and others. They were super helpful in getting us a taxi anytime we needed and then getting us connected with a gentleman who became our permanent driver we could just text. Kevin and all of the waiters and waitresses at the pool, beach and restaurant were top notch. We really could not have asked for more or better service. They remembered our drink of choice every night (which was helpful as I was having trouble remembering the French wines). We also really loved having "resort pets" with Feelu and Pistacio. We both have pets at home so we loved having a little companion to see during happy hour while on vacation. The housekeeping staff were always super friendly and did a great job on our room each day. We really felt at home here and cannot say enough good things about the beautiful and well kept resort. Breakfast and dinner were top notch (we did not eat lunch very often). We went to several other resorts during the trip for either the day (rented chairs) or dining or drinks and hands down we think this resort is the best on the island. Air Antilles - do NOT use this airline. They cancelled our flights with 5 days till the trip, without rebooking us and said their only English speaking worker was out for 3 months. After cancelling the flights, they gave us a disconnected number to call and the email address had a kickback saying they were out of office for the summer. Also do not go to Gypsea. Our waiter charged us a 42% tip even though we wrote down a 10% tip! We only realized when we got our credit card bill but at this point it is too hard to dispute it from afar so just BEWARE. We will not be returning. The food was good but only because of what was on the specials - the menu itself is not extensive and the service was sub-par and took forever for someone just to bring us water and drink menu.
