Nestled in a prime location, La Concha Renaissance San Juan Resort attracts guests with its proximity to local beaches, shops, and attractions, though some have noted the nearby surf can be rough. While the hotel offers multiple pools and beachfront access, reviewers have reported a mix of impressions, citing maintenance and service inconsistencies, and a club-like atmosphere that may detract from the expected serenity.
Despite praise for overall cleanliness and some room views, guests have called out issues such as overpriced amenities, outdated room decor, and occasional unprofessional service, suggesting the hotel may not always meet value expectations.

Detailed Reviews
La Concha’s lush courtyard, 3 pools, soft beach, many bars, Rose wine all day theme, and modern rooms deserve a 5 but the front desk service brings my rating down to a 4.
Service
Checkin, including the wait, took 20 minutes. Although our package included 15% off food & drink, the concierge who checked us in did not give us a 15% off card. When we asked later no cards were available. They left the card at the front desk but never called or contacted us to inform us. We were also very disappointed when we requested to change from room 303 because of the small bed, dirty windows, and view of a moldy green roof top, because the staff did not apologize in any way.
Rooms are clean and modern including a small fridge, espresso maker, and plenty of charging outlets. They provide Aveda products, make-up wipes, but no shower cap. Room 102 in the cottages looks over the courtyard and has a small patio with two chairs and a table.
Amenities
The abundant beach chairs, umbrellas, soft sand, and service were appreciated. They ask for room number for towels but no need to check them back in. With 3 pool areas plus the large beach felt uncrowned and unnecessary to hoard beach chairs. Live DJs play thumping music in the afternoons by the beach and adult-only bars.
Dining
Serafina restaurant on the street is some of the best food and service plus a fun outdoor dining experience in Condado. Poke bowls and snacks at the pool bars are better than average. Our package included a decent breakfast buffet with a omelet station on the weekends.
Location
Walk ability from La Concha is awesome - conveniently located to some of the best nearby restaurants, CVS, and Starbucks.
Clientele
The customers were relatively diverse compared to nearby properties.
I would choose to stay at La Concha over the nearby Marriot Stellaris

This was our 3rd stay at La Concha and once again we are glad to have chosen this hotel. We had an oceanfront room in the Ocean Tower and we loved the amazing view. We opened the sliding door to get the fresh breeze and hear the ocean sounds but it would be nice to have a real balcony to sit on. Again, it was our 3rd visit so this was not a surprise. On our last visit we had an oceanfront balcony in the Suite Tower which is great but the floor to ceiling glass in the Ocean Tower rooms provide an awesome view.
We prefer the location in Condado over staying in Isla Verde mainly for the proximity to so many great restaurants. The water is rough with big waves so it's important to be aware of that, especially if you are expecting to float around in calm water. Many people were enjoying the waves though and on our last day the water had really big waves which brought out many locals to surf. It was fun watching them ride the waves.
We enjoyed all three hotel pools and the beach as well. Since the hotel building blocks the sun in the late afternoon, the two beach side pools and a portion of the beach are shady after 3pm. The main pool is less affected by the shadow of the hotel. On our first trip to La Concha, the Vanderbilt hotel had not yet opened so this hotel used the entire section of the beach. Now the area that gets all day sun is used by the Vanderbilt and the La Concha section of that area is a bit crowded as a result. Although, there is plenty of beach area to find a less crowded space if you go further down the beach. They will set up a chair and umbrella anywhere you want.
Service was wonderful everywhere we went in the hotel including the front desk, the beach guys setting up chairs and umbrellas, poolside/beach side service, bartenders and the housekeeping staff.
I know there are several reviews about the noise at the hotel. Since this was our 3rd stay we knew what to expect. We are couple in our early 50's and this was a trip without our teenage kids. While we were here to relax for a long weekend, we didn't find the music bothersome. Generally the music by the main pool was relaxing and on Monday and Tuesday the resort was very quiet. The beachside pools were loud on Saturday night and Sunday all afternoon and evening. We did hear it in our room as we were getting ready to go out to dinner but again, it didn't bother us. I could understand how it would bother others so if you are looking for a tranquil hotel, this is not the place for you (especially on the weekends).
We look forward to another visit to San Juan sometime in the near future hopefully and we will be staying at La Concha. I would not recommend this hotel if traveling with small kids, although there were families there, but I could see staying there with my teenage kids. They would love the ocean waves. On our last trip we stayed in Isla Verde and the kids thought the water was too calm.
Thank you La Concha for another fun long weekend getaway!

I love La Concha and have been staying there for many years. I recently visited and was appalled by the lack of recycling that's going on. I wrote the management with an idea: Sell inexpensive water bottles upon arrival and put filtered water around the resort, along with wipes to wipe the opening of the bottle, so they conserve on using plastic. The management was very prompt in their response to me and said that they are working on it. I also think that they could do a better job to encourage using one towel for the duration of the trip by putting up a sign in the room. They can also ask their restaurant to compost scraps and give those scraps to farms in Puerto Rico.

My two adult daughters (23 & 26) and I stayed for a week at La Concha. Let me preface by saying I traditionally have high expectations for our vacation resorts. And I can pleasantly say that my expectations were far exceeded at La Concha.
Room: Modern, roomy and QUIET (never heard a thing from outside the room other than the ocean waves). Comfortable beds and pillows. Lovely, modern bathroom (who doesn't love big, plush towels?) with yummy Aveda toiletries. Very clean and cold AC! Accommodated with a fan, foam pillows as requested.
Restaurants: Good choices with sushi, Italian, American, and traditional Puerto Rican. The quality of food was unexpectedly good, cheers to the resort chefs. The costs were a bit high (especially for the cocktails at $14 a piece) but we expected that.
Pools & Beach: Applause, applause. We loved the three infinity pools. We could enjoy lounging in the clean pools while being only a few yards away from the sand and sea. In addition, on a rainy, overcast day, the two hot tubs were a welcome surprise. La Concha had more than enough lounge chairs and cabanas to accommodate everyone at the pool. And let me brag about their large beach area: clean, with soft sand, tons and tons of beach loungers and umbrellas.
Service: This is where La Concha soared. Everyone (and I mean everyone) was warm and welcoming. Their smiles sincerely seemed so genuine and made us smile in return. They have a huge staff that's constantly asking how they can help. From the wait staff to the front desk, from the pool staff to the valet guys, I was continually reminded how excellent customer service makes all the difference.
Activities: The resort doesn't plan a lot of activities, but they did have a couple dinner special events, one day they had a fun game of beer pong, another night they had a DJ, and on Th-Sat nights, there's a night club setup in the lower level. Oh, and they have bicycles to use at your convenience.
We will definitely be visiting La Concha again (sooner rather than later, hopefully)!

I decided to stay here based on my Marriott status. Now if your not aware Puerto Rico has taxes and fees it’s very expensive. I was aware and understood the resort fee and room tax(85.20+275=360.20) a night. With that being said check in was horrible. The front desk can not be bothered the young woman never advised us of WiFi, no direction to room, no bag service so I wasn’t very happy. When I did get to my room the front desk attitude quickly went away because it was gorgeous, clean and everything I requested was in my room. The only down side the Nespresso machine was broken, but I chalked it up. My first night was great didn’t use the amenities as of yet. On Friday I went to the pool over looking the beach such a great space. The server was pleasant enough but he had an attitude (again the service could use work). The beach employee as I laid on the chair came over to me twice and asked me if I was at the hotel, he wanted my room number I was quite annoyed as I saw several younger women he did not ask, who I can tell you were not of the hotel. They had coolers and there own towels. Again, I let things go pretty much all day. The pool area had all kinds of locals and people with coolers and there own food, which upset me because what’s the point of 85.20? If just anyone can use the facilities? I don’t mind paying but why would I pay for amenities that anyone can walk in off the strip to use? There was no accountability and it’s definitely in need of a better system. Wrist bands, key card entry something that shows the people that pay are being respected. The next day I decided to go to the adult area only to be rudely told I could not have my coconut water since the hotel sold it? I was so annoyed. I went over to the main pool and my day got much better. You need 100 LEuYani’s she was attentive and so sweet. When I was goin g to get a poke bowl she said I’ll get it, yesterday the server said I can’t get you that? I will be honest that the facilities are clean and beautiful, but I’m just not really impressed with the standard of the actual food severs. You housekeeping amazing they are on point! I hope this does not discourage anyone from visiting as tourism is a key part of Puerto Rico, but I do want the actual service staff and hotel to do better.

My husband and I stayed here through Christmas and had an enjoyable stay with a few minor issues. At first we were put in the rooms that had the kitchenette which didnt suit us at all. The first room smelled like bleach so they moved us to another one on the floor above and it smelled like mold. My husband is a platinum member and neither of us considered those rooms to be any type of upgrade. Third times the charm and they moved us into the other tower with the renovated rooms and it was perfect. Beautiful view and nice balcony. We ate most nights at the Serafina restaurant and loved the food and eating outside. The beach area is small because they share it with another resort so they put lounge chairs practically on top of each other. If you pay/tip The Beach Boys they will set up an area for you prior to everyone hitting the beach. It was windy on our 2nd day and my husband got hit in the face with a beach umbrella that took flight and flew across several people to hit him. They should NOT be putting up the umbrellas if it is that windy. We enjoyed the adults only pool but there were no more chairs pretty early on. We walked through old San Juan and really enjoyed the atmosphere and Christmas decorations and the views. Overall it was a really nice getaway and I would recommend the hotel!

Despite numerous earthquakes in the region, Our family, along with two
Others we were traveling with, decided to
Keep our reservation at LaConcha. To say that this hotel is not family friendly would be a gross understatement. I would never recommend this hotel for those traveling with children. The staff treated them like stray dogs, as if they were a nuisance and unwanted, the staff was unfriendly and at times overtly rude; they yelled at our children, complained and told them at one point that they weren’t allowed to play at the pool. They had no entertainment at the pool or beach: no music, no fun activities to keep the kids entertained. At one point, we started playing our own music, which the other guests were so happy about until Alina, the pool manager sent one of her minions to tell us to shut it down, while she hid behind him. the food and beverage service Was paltry at best. Most times it took over an hour to get our order, something as simple as a few cocktails and at times we never even received our orders. When ordering at the pool bar directly, numerous staff members would stand around Watching us attempt to order while being completely ignored and did nothing to assist. Alina, the pool/food and beverage manager, was incredibly rude and dismissive. She didn’t make any attempts to assist us. Just stood there watching. They nickel and dime you over everything, like charging extra for every little side sauce, etc. for example, an impossible burger ended up costing more than $20 if you were foolish enough to order a side of garlic aioli. On our last day, we ordered 5 impossible burgers and a few drinks and the bill was $345. When we asked the waitress and manager why , they simply said “look here’s the menu. This is what we charge. Too bad”. Their non apologetic and arrogant attitude left us walking out of the hotel with the worst taste in our mouths. Additionally, we didn’t not receive any of the benefits of the suite package we booked like discounts on food and beverage, welcome bottle of rose, casino coupon, etc. the casino smelled like vomit mixed with two month old popcorn from a porn theatre. Needless to say, we will not be staying at this hotel again with our children and would certainly not recommend it for those looking for a family friendly resort.

First and foremost we would like to than you for your feedback of your recent stay. I would like to mention that the tremors happening are in the Southwester region, not the North were we are located as we are more than 80 miles away from the epicenter. We at La Concha resort aim to go above and beyond from guests expectations, and it seems we fell a little short. We apologize that you feel our staff treated you so but I assure you our staff member show respect for each of our guests and will always try to accommodate any way they can. There is indeed a pool where children are not permitted as it is an 'adult only' pool, and there is a signage that indicates so. We like to keep transparency in all our communications and the ticket referred to was of $273 which was left open given that you left in a hurry so it was covered by another of your guests. Management joins me in apologizing for any shortcomings from our team. Again, thank you for staying at La Concha Resort and we hope to see you again! We have been guests at La Concha numerous times over the past five years and sadly this visit fell a little short of the great service we have come to expect when we stay here. The first room in the Suites Tower, which was the room we originally booked, was located in a hallway with peeling paint on the carpet outside our door and when we looked up it was peeling above our head😳 We were moved easy enough to another room in the Ocean Tower, which was lovely but was a downgrade. After being told by hotel desk they would definitely adjust the rate, which they did eventually, but only after I proactively followed up before checking out and then found that the bill was not adjusted for the last night. Back in line!
Housekeeping did not refill soaps and shampoo until we made a request😳 Room service did not bring our wine of the day until very late in the day. This bottle came with our room package. I thought this would be a nice treat after a day in the sun but it was more work than it was worth plus the wine was a terrible Rose. Note to self —next time buy 5 bottles from the wine store across the street! Lobby bathroom was not clean with paper towels and toilet paper on the floor. The security/covid precautions at entrance functioned smoothly for the most part, but using the same path for people to come in and out of hotel created a bottleneck at busier times.
The Bonvoy app did work great and we found this the best way to communicate with the hotel staff.
The pool is still quite the scene and the hotel will always have an awesome location if you like to walk everywhere,,, BUT La Concha you can definitely do better!

The Bonvoy app did work great and we found this the best way to communicate with the hotel staff.
The pool is still quite the scene and the hotel will always have an awesome location if you like to walk everywhere,,, BUT La Concha you can definitely do better!

Do not take upgrade to city view. It is a construction zone from 7am- until after sunset. Don’t bother complaining because they will move you to another city view. When asked to purchase an ocean view on a high floor, we paid the much higher fee with promises of a higher room number only to be disappointed over and over again. No transparency. Every time we checked to see if the room was ready they advised that house keeping was not done. It is now almost 7 pm and we are still currently wanting. The manager finally told me that the room has a maintained issue. When I asked for a discount on the rate since we are still currently waiting the manager Stephanie state’s “ it’s not like your without a room waiting outside you already have a room”. To my self I thought yes, its a room I purchased but it is super noisy. I wish I could post video on this site.
Best of luck,
Don’t book city view

+1
This is a beautiful resort, with lots of amenities! Granted, things are a little different post-Covid 19, but staff and guests all were respectful of wearing masks and sanitizing hands.
We were only there for one day/night, but it was fabulous. We had an oceanfront suite which was roomy and well appointed. Lunch at the outdoor restaurant was very good - huge burgers! Everything is served in takeout containers, and menu/orders are done thru an app. All staff wearing masks as well. Tables and chairs are sprayed/sanitized after use.
There are multiple pools, but we went to the adult pool for the afternoon. Lots of umbrellas for shade, beautiful infinity pool and comfy lounges.
Drinks could be ordered using the barcode on the chairs.
The Condado area has lots of great restaurants, although not all are open yet. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, even with restrictions, and look forward to returning when we can stay longer!

I was there first week of April and construction was going on. We walked a wooden plank bridge to get from lobby to tower.
We didn’t! But I always travel with a white noise machine and our rooms were facing the city/bay, not beach.
We were in the ocean tower they were updated and all ocean view rooms and suites we were on the 8th floor
Really nice , comfortable rooms
Uber is very easy from the hotel and they also have taxis waiting outside
