ACOYA Curacao Resort, Villas & Spa is celebrated for its amiable staff and diverse atmosphere, where live music and serene gardens are prominent, though some guests find it to be noisy at times. The accommodation varies, with spacious villas receiving compliments, while smaller rooms face occasional noise and connectivity issues. Cleanliness is generally upheld with tidy facilities, though housekeeping can be hit or miss. The resort's amenities, including shuttles and entertainment, are well-regarded, yet some see room for enhancement. Opinions on value are split, with some meal deals appreciated but breakfast considered costly. While the location is deemed peaceful, its distance from popular beaches can be a drawback for some visitors.

What a super nice place Acoya is. You can visit the hustle and bustle yourself if you want. You are close to everything and you even have free access to Mambo beach.

There are 2 new padel courts less than 5 minutes away by car. So bring your padel equipment.

Every morning at breakfast the children can feed the animals in the lake.

In short, a dream place to discover Curaçao with children.

In the evening at 8 p.m. there is a beautiful fountain show. And afterwards you can sit at the pool bar.

Tip: rent a villa with a private pool so that the children can swim and you don't always have to come along.

Staying at Acoya for 4 nights was far better than I expected. To start, the location is very ideal, with Acoya being only a 20 minute drive from the airport, 15 minutes from Willemstad, and very close to the aquarium, freezone and other big attractions. Many tour agencies (including Irie Tours) picked us up at the hotel and brought us back. Acoya even has free daily shuttle services to and from Mambo Beach, Downtown Willemstad and the grocery, which all made getting around Curacao very easy and affordable. Acoya is also far from busy main roads, so the entire resort is always quiet and peaceful.

Regarding the hotel services, all were exceptional. The staff can speak fluent English, Papiamento, Dutch, Spanish, and some German. Late checkout can be easily requested and is usually allowed, the concierge desk remains open until 10PM, all the hotel staff are extremely helpful, courteous, professional and caring, and the housekeeping is always on time and thorough in cleaning the rooms. Tours can be easily booked and paid for, taxis can be called and documents for travel can be easily printed at the front desk

The restaurants and bar are right next to the lake and pool and serve delicious food and desserts. At the resort, I usually ordered pasta, burgers, fries, ice cream and brownies for dinner - All of which were delicious. The 4 nights I stayed at Acoya even had live musical and jazz performances. Breakfast is served buffet style and includes delicious muffins, toast, croissants, eggs, hashbrowns, fruits, and more. Hot chocolate and coffee are easily available. All of the food was delivered in good time as well. I was highly satisfied with all the food options available and they were all delicious.

At Acoya, I stayed in a 2-bedroom villa with a living room, tv, kitchen, fridge, and 2 bathrooms. The room was very spacious and was close to the lobby. It was very clean as well. You can even request to have bottled water delivered to the room. There's also an outdoor balcony area so you can put wet clothes that you wore to the beach outside.

Overall, staying at Acoya was a fantastic experience. It satisfies everything you need at a cheaper price than staying in downtown Willemstad. My favourite things about Acoya included the proximity to tourist sites, Willemstad, and the freezone, as well as how easy it was to get around. I also loved how quiet, laidback, and peaceful the resort felt, as well as the food, pool, and how tours can pick you up at the hotel. I'd highly recommend staying at Acoya regardless of the purpose of your trip. Doesn't matter if you are visiting for business, wanting to go out everyday, or just want to stay by the pool, Acoya perfectly accommodates all travel purposes and is perfect for all ages and families to stay at.

This resort is a hidden gem on the island! I booked a one bedroom villa with private plunge pool at this resort to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday. The villa was dope and we got more than I anticipated (partly because I didn't read much of what was in the room outside of the pool:-). The room villa came with a living room, kitchen, dining room patio with furniture along with another half bath and the pool.

Once there we went to the restaurant to eat and that is where we met our startender Natasha! She was absolutely fantastic and took great care of us! There was a party at the hotel on Friday night and our startender Natasha kept the party going. So much so that we requested that the coupons (they had to be purchased for the event) we had left over be given to her (I hope they did!😤).

Sandra (hopefully I spelled it correctly), who I believe is a manger was very helpful and accommodating. There were some misunderstandings as to how often housekeeping came around to clean the villas which was the only downside to the trip due to expecting them to come through more often, but when they came through...my Lord did they clean it!

I do recommend that a person rents a car through the hotel because cabbing can get expensive. We would definitely stay here again and bring family with us.

Dear Jason, we thank you for your Review and love that our Charm has shown during your stay. The one bedroom villa is a great choice for Couples and guests wanting a private pool. We keep a close look when staff needs to clean rooms, usually the same day it is requested. I am sure the staff loved entertaining you and hope you come back again soon. Thanks.

We truly enjoyed our 3 week stay at Acoya. What a beautifully landscaped property. The suite was spacious with well equipped kitchen and exceptional furnished terrace balcony. Curaçao residents are all welcoming and friendly but the hotel staff are exceptional in making sure your stay is pleasant and to your liking. Location is ideal to get a real feel for Willemstad with available daily free shuttles to Punda, Mambo Beach and a supermarket. Beach chairs at the Madero Beach Club a definite plus. The resort has competitive pricing of rental cars that let you explore the food and natural wonders of this beautiful island. We had some top notch housekeeping staff most days, however a few seemed to cut corners - the front desk addressed the rare issues we had. As we were about to board our transfer to the airport some front desk personnel came to the entry, wished us safe home and waved goodbye. It felt so genuine. What a nice touch.

With a few simple adjustments the resort could make the client experience even better. Music in the pool area needs to be more varied and changed regularly. Better pool/beach towels. Thicker and new lounge pads for pool area. Happy hours every day would be nice. A tuck shop with necessities and some food/snack items. Since the hotel is paying Madero Beach Club for access to beach chairs, the chairs provided should be in good condition - many need attention. Update the shuttle vehicles and include a step for seniors to ease access. Shuttles to grocery should be every second day. On that day a late afternoon pick up shuttle at Punda and Mambo should be available. This would allow guests to try more dining experiences in those areas.

The Willemstad/Curaçao government should be encouraged to add paved sidewalk on Dr. Hugenholtzweg. Also, the city should look into addressing barking dogs in neighborhood. Hard to get used to that.

Love Curaçao, love Willemstad, love Acoya and will miss the staff.

I am currently staying at the Acoya and so far, not impressed. We arrived an hour later than our scheduled check in time on account of a delayed flight, and then waited two and a half hours sitting around with our bags to be brought to our one bedroom villa. Our room wasn’t ready until 3.5 hours after we were supposed to check in, which is pretty wild. The pool and restaurant area doesn’t look much like the photos they show, neon lights around the trees and the ‘lake’ is more of a dark swamp. Dinner was served quickly, which was appreciated, and the simple italian meal was satisfying, but the strange scheduling of the restaurants isn’t well explained and staff don’t volunteer much information. The ambiance for dinner was live singers, and the howls of stray dogs and strange bangs that continued into the evening. Also revving engines of vehicles. The villa itself is spacious and relatively nice, the bed is good and sheets were clean and crisp. Couches and chairs are all stained, which isn’t very appealing. AC works well and is quiet. There are security cameras around our private pool at our one bedroom villa, and strobe-like flickering security lights at night so it’s necessary to draw the curtains to not have your sleep interrupted. The location is poor, nothing really to walk to. Combined with the way the pool area under delivers and the lack of eating options, the only decent thing at the Acoya is the rooms. I’m considering moving up my return flight, and I won’t be recommending it to others.

Dear canadianaggie93, thank you for your review on your stay. Very nice to read that you enjoyed the speed of service and our restaurant with entertainment. In addition, it is more than nice for us to read that the villa with air conditioning has been to your pleasure. To give even more atmosphere to our pool, which is one of the largest in Curacao, we have recently added neon lighting. My apologies for the waiting times which you indicate. I will discuss this directly with my team. We strive for fast service times and rooms that are available immediately upon check-in. This has not gone according to our procedure. We hope to see you again at Acoya.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Acoya for 7 nights. Resort was well maintained, with giant palm trees and welcoming atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. We stayed in a one bedroom villa and the rooms were clean and bright with great air conditioning. The shower did leak and the bed was not comfortable (my boyfriend slept very poorly because of this). Also, our villa had two other occupied rooms (attached and separated by a locked door) on each side and you can hear everything so keep that in mind. We had a full kitchen which we used everyday. A shuttle brought us from the hotel to the grocery store on our first day which was great. We did not eat on the resort except for drinks and apps and the food was decent. Cocktails were great though but service is slow (a theme throughout the island no matter where we went). The pool area was nice but there was animal poop near the right side pool that no one cleaned up one day. The resort is 5 minutes away from Mambo beach and 15 minutes from the main city central. It was quiet and low-key which we like but in terms of amenities it was quite basic.

My wife and I were looking for a tropical vacation but not to Mexico, and found an unbelievable deal for a week in Curacao at Acoya. I kept thinking "what's the catch??"

The trip to Curacao itself was wonderful, but the resort was not the best part of the trip.

The food is ok at best, and the breakfast buffet (not included in our deal) was $26 USD each before we were admitted. The breakfast food was ok but certainly not worth what we paid.

The room itself was ok, small, clean, but the walls are paper thin. The AC was directly above head so we dealt with a slight drip on one night; however the room was nicely cool throughout. Internet access was spotty and we often got bumped. Not reliable in any case.

The front desk help was hit and miss. There were a couple of folks who were helpful (Colin comes to mind), but others would see people (not just my wife and me) at the desk and not look up to ask how they could help.

Housekeeping was very poor in general. Our room wasn’t cleaned before 5 pm on any day, and all that was done typically was they made the bed and gave us some towels. On the day before we were leaving, the housekeepers actually skipped our room altogether. We finally complained, and another team came and properly cleaned the room as it should have been all week.

In terms of location, the nearest beach (Mambo) is a 30 min walk away, and it was made clear to me that it was not safe to make that walk at night. Daily shuttles to Mambo and a local supermarket were nice, but last shuttle back for each was 2:30 pm, so if you missed it you were on your own.

As soon as we realized what we were into, we rented a car, which we were able to do at the main lobby, which was convenient, and the tour specialist was friendly and accommodating.

The pool area was fine.

Basically, if you’re looking for a bed on the island and not much else, you could do worse. But if you stay here you will definitely want to rent a car to explore all the beautiful beaches and everything else that Curacao has to offer.

Acoya was a very quiet peaceful resort, it was very clean and the one/bedroom apartment was very well equipped, roomy, great location and the beds were very very comfortable. Tstandard rooms were extremely small. The food in the restaurant was just okay. Happy Hour was wonderful but they had limited availability of drinks during happy hour. The evening entertainment was live music but it was very nice. I read on trip advisor how wonderful it was that they had a car rental right on the property. That is a story in itself. I emailed ahead of time to book a car and was told no worries, I could just come to the lobby and rent a car when I got there. I went to the lobby first thing in the morning for 5 days straight, promised a car the next day, No car for the entire week. At one point he had two clients fighting over a car because he accepted one woman's booking, took all her information, gave her license plate of the car she would be renting, told her to come at 900 am to pick it up. She arrives before 900 and he says to her, "I am giving your car to this woman because she was here first this morning and I started work at 800 am." The front desk staff told her he started at 900 and he himself told her he started at 900 but he came in early that day. He then had the two women argue it out as to who was going to get the car. Those that were like lucky enough to get a car felt extremely unsafe in the cars, they broke down, air conditioning did not work, hand break did not work, had to pull onto an 80 km expressway and the car would only go 40 km, afraid for their life. Trunk would not open on one, flat tire on one, someone stopped to help and the spare tire did not even fit with the car so could not change it. This car rental staff member would be a lot less stressful if he would just be honest with people and say I don't have a car for you, instead of having you come back every morning, trying to be the first one there, only to be told that he has no car.
Shuttle is a 4 seater car but the staff doing the shuttling of guest were wonderful. The "reserved seating at the beach" chairs are in such poor çondition, you fall right through them and they are right in front of the speakers blasting in your ear all day.
I would go back to resort if price was right but would Rent a car from the airport. If you want to go out for dinner there is not return shuttle after 215 PM so you have to walk 35 to 40 minutes back or get a taxi.

Just don’t do it. Check in is 4 we showed up at 415 with no room ready. Paid almost $60 at the bar for 4 bacardi drinks while we waited. After checking in here we wished we just stayed a few extra days at dreams. It was my 40th so we splurged on a villa with a private pool. Beautiful? YES! The private pool was a great finish to a sun soaked day at the beach. The grounds of the resort are also beautiful, very well kept and very clean. On the inside is a completely different story.. Tons of mosquitos INSIDE the villa, my partner got bit more overnight while sleeping than she did the entire 12 days we were there on the island! The shower didn’t drain so you stood in water while you showered. Stains on the couch, the lamps and the walls (obviously from the previous people that stayed killing bugs) The bartenders were just rude unless you were a good looking guy. We are in the restaurant business so we understand wait times and being understaffed but the bar had 4 people behind it at one point and about 8 guests and it still took almost 20 minutes to grab a beer refill with dinner. In our opinion, the food was overpriced so we went into the Mambo Beach area for dinner those last 3 nights. Also, there is a 15% service charge your aren't told about so keep an eye on that. We are not hard people to please, especially when you are in paradise but we 100% would not go back.

Stayed for 24 days, July/Aug. 2021. Great complex and surroundings. Thats about it.
Service is minimal, they will only clean every 4th day or if you make a request, same for clean towels. We upgraded twice for better room.
Our rainshower did not work, after 10 days still not fixed. A room for two, but cups and glasses only for one. Adjusted when we asked for it. Staff is friendly but cleaningcrew abused and underpayd, so make sure you tip them, they work so hard. Breakfast was too expensive (no choice for eggs, pancakes hard and cold, knives dont cut, Juice from Packs , fruit (watermelon) nearly spoiled, old bread and so on)
By checkout not a friendly word.

This was my 34th visit to Curacao but never stayed in such poorly serviced hotel before.
