Every review has said everything that could be said. Staying at Casa Tony in Vedado gave me the absolute best picture of Habana because of its optimal location and staying in a family home. The apartment is very spacious and well-lit/nicely ventilated. There's many windows and fans + air conditioning if you need it. The breakfast his wife makes for you (for only 5 CUC) has the freshest bread and fruit/fruit juice. If you need to catch the bus to anywhere else in Habana rather than take a taxi, the main streets (Paseo, Linea, Malecon) are 3 blocks away. There's very close nightlife, restaurants, parks, and the bank is super close. Tony had to be the most informative host I've ever stayed with and I've been traveling solo for a decade now; he answers your questions thoroughly and extensively. He's been doing this for 15 years and you experience his expertise in every part of your stay.…
We stayed at Casa Tony from December 6-8th, 2018 and we were so happy with our accommodations and decision to stay in his apartment. The location of the apartment is in Vedado and is close to downtown Havana, the Malecon, restaurants, bars and hotels. The neighbourhood is very safe and friendly; we walked around late at night and never felt uncomfortable. Tony’s apartment is extremely clean, with a private bedroom and ensuite. The bedroom has air conditioning and a safe to lock up valuables and is very spacious. The bathroom has good water pressure and hot water. Also, Tony provides a set of keys to lock the bedroom and the main door into the apartment. There is a fridge in the common area to put water, beer etc. Tony, his wife, mother and son are so welcoming and friendly and really made us feel as though we were family and ensured we were comfortable and had everything we needed. He speaks English extremely well! Upon our arrival he told us about some of the tourist hotspots, gave us the directions to locations and information regarding the bus and cabs. We paid 5 CUC per person for breakfast each morning, made by his wife, and it was excellent- fresh fruit juice, coffee, eggs, bread, and fresh fruit. We highly recommend Casa Tony to anyone travelling to Havana and we will definitely be returning! Gracias Tony por todo. Los dos días estás excelente. Besos Celia & Michel…
The location is great, close to good restaurants and the Malecon, and also to several hotels so it is easy to catch a cab to anywhere else. Nice neighborhood, very safe for walking. The apartment itself is clean and comfortable with plenty of privacy and space. Tony's English is really good, and he is so helpful, with plenty of suggestions and information. Nice family, nice breakfasts...we will definitely stay here again if we are back in Havana.
Our stay in Havana was excellent with the help of Tony. Tony can speak english very well. We had total privacy if needed. The casa was always clean. We had no issues at all with this casa . We enjoyed our visits with Tony and his son. The casa is close to the Malecon. We walked from Tony's casa to down town along the Malecon a couple times. Took about an hour walk.
Tony and family were so friendly and made us feel very welcome. Tony speaks English well but I recommend that you brush up on a few Spanish phrases to communicate with Tony's mother, wife and little son (he's so cute!). It was very hot and humid in Havana but the air con in the room provided us with a cool haven - it works very well. Private bathroom with hot water and good water pressure. Breakfast is 4Cuc and consists of fruit, bread, eggs, coffee and amazing smoothies! Although the house is fine as it is, Tony mentioned that they are planning some renovation/improvements soon. Advice - Take the old/rough looking taxis for 5 Cuc to Havana Vieja from the road Linea or from Malecon. We even shared a ride with a family and paid 1cuc! To get to Havana Vieja it is a good 10 minute taxi ride - we tried to walk it but it was too hot and too far for most people (probably 50 minute walk). The tourist bus has increased in price to 10cuc and doesn't offer a direct route to Havana so we didn't use it again. The local area is really nice and you can look around/get your map out without anyone trying to sell you a cigar etc. There is a really cool nearby club/art gallery/bar called FAC walking distance from the house. We really enjoyed the Vedado area, it is residential but offers welcome relief from Havana Vieja.…
