Sederkloof Lodge is located in the spectaculair Baviaanskloof, on top of mountain hill with magnificent view. A real 4x4 takes you up to your beuatiful chalet. Allthough we were the only two guest at Sederkloof Lodge we felt very welcome and were excelently taken care of. The staff was friendly and helpful, the trips were nice and the meals were perfect. Breakfast and lunch were served outside, diner inside. Alle meals were made at the site for us by Caren and Spyke. It was great!

While road tripping around the Langkloof and about to enter an awesome traverse of the Baviaanskloof from Hankey/Patensie, we had heard of Sederkloof Lodge as a good place to stay. At a short notice, we were able to pitch up to this wonderful establishment balanced high in this unique World Heritage Site. Our excellent hostess, Anneke, showed us up the steep windy gravel road to the stone and glass lodge, which blends in to sweeping views of a wide expanse of this wilderness. Now that the lodge offers a bed and breakfast type of stay, we had the lodge to ourselves to prepare supper for the night with a wide hearth , comfortable furnishings and an excellent Natural History library. Didn’t get to use the large reflector telescope but the lack of light pollution and New Moon made the skies incandescent with stars. Quite marvellous for us urbanites to see.

The information booklet in our room was compiled by our host, Anneke, who is a naturalist by training. This provides a wealth of knowledge of the region from the geology to San paintings and folklore. Our time here was too short but we have keen anticipation of coming back for a longer stay. We would really like to experience some of the trail walks and surrounding wilderness with the counterpoise of the indulgent comfort of this Sederkloof Lodge. If you are considering a trip through this World Heritage site, have a thought of spending a little time here.

What an amazing experience, nestled into the rocks on top of a gorge, beautifully appointed rooms with personal touches which made it special. Aneke looked after us superbly. Would highly recommend Sederkloof Lodge to anyone looking for accommodation in the area.

This was the worst place we have ever stayed . Anneke is an awkward, unskilled, unbalanced host who has no hospitality skills whatsoever. Arrival was a shambles, dinner had to be cooked by yourself, there is only an outside shower which is not very pleasant in cold weather. Anneke could not care less. When I sent her an email days later raising my concerns ( meaning well for her business) I was harassed , told to never contact her again unless I was buying the farm, currently for sale at R 13 million. The daily rate is so high because she needs to keep riffraff like me out. I would not go back for free. Avoid at all costs unless you enjoy drama and bad service.

My wife and I stayed at Sederkloof Lodge on a roadtrip to Cape Town and it was absolutely spectacular. Each chalet is private and secluded yet offers fantastic views of the mountains. The chalets are tastefully and elegantly decorated, offering luxury and simplicity. The main lodge is well equipped for cooking and relaxing and there are so many things to do, such as hikes to Bushman paintings or MTB in the area. Our hostess, Anneke, was attentive to our needs and made our stay all that much better. The lodge is remote and requires an effort to get to but it is totally worth it.

We stayed at Sederkloof in the Winter of 2023. The chalets provide breathtaking views of the Baviaanskloof en die mountains. The lodge is fully equipped with everything you may need to braai and prepare meals. Inside and outside braai facilities available. The many hiking trails on the farm provide samples of many of the biomes in the valley. We were fortunate to have our host, Anneke, who is an ecologist, accompany us on a walk, helping us to identify many of the plant species and providing interesting information on the fauna and flora. Breakfast was as good as the hospitality.

Sederkloof lodge is still in a spectacular location despite some of the previous review. It is no longer a fully catered facility (breakfast is included and served at the main lodge) but the self catering and braai facilities are good. The location of the rooms is quite magnificent. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable with amazing views down into the kloof. There is an indoor bath with a view and an outdoor shower also with a wonderful view. You need to go to enjoy the space and not look for the luxury you would find in the city - the luxury is in the secluded and peaceful environment although the rooms were certainly very good too!

We had forgotten to bring food but Anneke was able to prepare a braai for us. We had a wonderful evening, partly because of Anneke.
The location is remote, but if you like peace and nature then this is an excellent stopover after or before a visit to Baviaanskloof

All that I can add to the many reviews is that if you are planning to visit the Baviaanskloof then indulge yourself with a stayover at Sederkloof - at least 2 nights or more. If you love nature and the peacefulness it offers you will not be disappointed. Your hostess - Anneke - is sensitive, well informed about the flora and fauna, and ensures that your stay is wonderful in a charming, unassuming manner.
